Workaholic - September 14th

High School AU.
“Ugh, why did you volunteer to do the scenery? This is tiring.”
Jongdae complained, but even so, he continued to work. That was all for a play Jongin’s class was doing for the end of the year, and even though Jongdae wasn’t in the same class, he was helping out.
“They all looked so full of stuff to do already. As the class president, the least I can do is this.”
Jongin said, looking around and using his hands to feel for the scissors, as he had lost it in the middle off all the colorful paper once again.
“The least? You are organizing the whole thing, and now even doing the scenery! Are you trying to pass out from over working?”
Jongdae asked in a very exaggerated manner.
“Of course not. I just like being helpful.”
Jongin responded, pouting a bit and sitting back, nearly giving up on finding the scissors and considering going all around the house to look for another one.
“You’re a workaholic.”
Jongdae said, pulling out the scissor for a few bits of thick cardboard next to him and handing it to Jongin, who smiled.
“No I’m not.”
Jongin defended himself, but as soon as he had the tool, he went back to work. He had been straight at it for hours, without taking breaks like Jongdae had.
“Yes you are, there’s no use denying it. Look at this. Is a sunny weekend day, and you’ve spend all of it face deep in paper, inks, and tools, to finish something for your school. Most people are out playing around.”
Jongdae made a good point, and Jongin couldn’t help but make a bit of a annoyed face, responding in the most sassy way he knew to – which wasn’t much, but he knew it would suffice.
“Fine, I am. So what? I see nothing wrong with liking to work. It’s nice that at the end of the day you can know that you worked hard and accomplished what you wanted. Plus, aren’t you one too? You’re always helping me.”
Jongdae scoffed, feeling a bit offended to be called a workaholic when he hated to work so much.
“That’s because I want to spend time with you, dummie! I’m not here for the work, yuk!”
Jongdae made an extremely exaggerated disgust face, putting his tongue out and all, making Jongin laugh at him.
“Since you’re always working, the only way for me to spend time with you is helping out. Cause just sitting here and watching you work feels cruel.”
Jongdae continued, and the two laughed.
Even though it started with a complaint, the whole conversation gave Jongin a warm feeling inside. It was nice to know Jongdae was there for him like that, even in such a silly way.
