"Jaehwan-ah. Lee Jaehwan."
Eunbyul shook her head with furrowed brows. Sweat rolled down her hot forehead as she repeated his name. She woke up screaming his name, tears rolling down her cheeks. "Jaehwan-yah."
Eunbyul held her face in her palms and sobbed as her boyfriend's death replayed in her mind.
When the sun rose, she didn't have the energy to get out of bed. Just then, her phone rang. "Eunbyul-ah! Are you ready?"
Eunbyul furrowed her brows. "Don't tell me you forgot! It's Jangmi's baby shower today!"
Eunbyul groaned and sat up. "Oh shoot. Okay, I'll be right there." Ignoring her fever, she showered, got dressed, and went outside.
Walking around the streets of Gangman only reminded her of Jaehwan even more. Eunbyul sighed and shook her head.
It's been six months, Han Eunbyul. You have to let him go.
Her focus came back when she accidentally bumped into someone.
"Sorry." This voice. Eunbyul gasped when she saw Sungjoo walking away.
"Jaehwan." She whispered. She ran after him and caught his arm. "Jaehwan-ah!"
He turned around with a shock written over his face. He nicely smiled and pulled away. "I'm sorry, but I think you have the wrong person."
Eunbyul grabbed hold of him again and pulled him closer to her. "Jaehwan-ah."
He gawked at her when he saw tears slipping down her face. "A-Are you okay?"
As soon as he finished his sentence, her eyes rolled back and she fell into his arms.
"I don't know what she was thinking. She had a very high fever and she hasn't been eating properly for the past few months."
Sungjoo softly gazed at Eunbyul lying down on the hospital bed. He closed his eyes and sighed.
He thought back to what her friend said after she rushed to the hospital.
"Sorry for what happened. But I would have done the same thing. You look exactly like her boyfriend. Unfortunately, he died in a car accident six months ago and our poor Eunbyul was there to witness the whole thing."
Sungjoo opened his eyes when he heard her pleas. "Jaehwan-ah. Don't go, don't leave me behind."
A tear slid down the side of Eunbyul's face. Sungjoo tightly grasped her shaking hand and wiped the tear away.
"It's alright. Everything is going to be okay." He gently carressed her hair to calm her down.
Soon, her breathing went back to normal. He stopped touching her hair and unconsciously admired her face.
She's beautiful. Sungjoo softly rubbed her hand and held it tightly.
"I don't know why, but I want to protect you, Han Eunbyul." He kept her hand in his for the whole night, ending up falling asleep next to her.
