"Boys only talk to you because they like you."
Hanna's voice kept playing in her head. Was what her friend said true?
The only person she could have been referring to is... "Hey, Vee."
Valerie didn't look up from her paper. She already knew who it was. Jae.
Valerie looked up and frowned. "You're late again."
Jae plopped down on the seat in front of her and grinned, making his eyes desappear. "Sorry. I'll make it up to you. What do you want? White chocolate mocha frap with a lot of whip cream, right?"
He got up and walked to the cashier to order her favorite drink. He remembers my favorite drink.
She lightly jumped when he set the drink down right in front of her.
"I asked for extra, extra cream this time." He smiled and sipped on his drink before taking his books out.
Valerie couldn't help but stare at him as he studied. His face was so concentrated and not to mention, good looking.
The way his eyebrows bunched up together when he didn't understand the problem and how he stuck his tongue out out of habit... She hated to admit it, but she liked him.
Ever since he first talked to her in chemistry class for help last semester, Valerie couldn't help but fall for him.
She tried to avoid him but he would always ask her for help and talk to her every chance he got.
"It's not good to stare." Valerie almost choked on her drink.
Jae laughed and wiped cream off the corner of her lips. "Am I that good looking?"
Valerie scoffed. "Who said I was staring?" She cleared and went back to work.
Jae shook his head with a smile before going back to the problem he was working on.
Valerie crossed out her answer for the tenth time that hour. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't solve the stupid chemistry problem.
"Do you need help?" Jae took the paper from her and looked at the problem. "This is easy! You just have to do this."
He continued to solve the problem, leaving Valerie shocked with he jaw open. "And~ that's how you do it. Easy, right?"
"When did you get so good at chem?" She looked at with suspicion.
Jae gulped and stuttered, "What do you mean? I just got this lesson. Other than that, you know you're better than me." He nervously chuckled and drank his drink.
Hanna's words replayed in her mind. Can it be true? Does Jae like me?
Valerie thought back to her conversation with Hanna the day before.
"Boys only talk to you because they like you."
"What? That doesn't even make sense."
Hanna rolled her eyes. "I'm telling you. Trust me, Jae likes you."
Valerie's eyes widened, "Stop joking! He's just a friend."
"Fine. Then tell him you're going on a blind date. If he doesn't react, he doesn't like you. If he tells you to not go, he likes you."
"Why would I lie?" "Don't you want to find out if he likes you or not?"
Valerie warily looked at Jae and cleared , catching his attention. "I'm going on a blind date." Jae's expression stayed the same.
Valerie tried to make it more convincing. "He's a friend of Hanna's brother. He's in med school and I hear he's super handsome."
Valerie paused before continuing, "Should I go?"
Jae blinked at her and stared at her for a long time before answering. "Don't go."
Valerie's eyes widened. "W-What?" Seeing Jae's expression, she knew he wasn't joking around.
"Don't go." After repeating those two words, Jae looked back down at his book.
Blush crept up Valerie's cheeks. He told me to not go.... A smile formed on her lips as she looked down, trying to hide her red face.
