“Are you sure about this, sir?”

Kris nodded. “100%.”

The reporter and secretary warily glanced at each other before nodding and settling the files.

Kris leaned back in his chair and drank his black coffee while staring at the tv screen as he waited for the news to break.

BREAKING NEWS: Wu Electronics Is Bankrupt

Kris walked out of the company building. The workers walking by whispered amongst each other as the heir of the bankrupt company walked to his million dollar car.

Kris took out his car keys and looked at it before throwing it behind his back. His secretary stumbled to catch them.

“Sir, what-”

“You can have it.” Kris put his hands in his pockets before walking out of the parking lot.

He sat down at a park bench and took his phone out to look through his contacts. He scrolled through the list while clucking his tongue against the roof of his mouth.

“Hm, let’s start with him.” Kris pressed the call button of his friend he played golf with.

After a couple of rings, the call went to voicemail. Hey! You have just reached Byun Baekhyun’s voicemail. Sorry I can’t get to the phone right now. Just leave a message and I’ll call you bac-

Kris hung up and scoffed. “Of course.”

He spent his afternoon calling his whole contact list but didn’t say a word at all. As the sun went down, so did his feelings as he went to the last contact on his list.

He hesitated before calling her. His face fell when it went to voicemail.

The last person I thought would do this. Huh. Kris bitterly hung up and turned his phone off before forgetting it in his pocket.

"One more soju!"

"Coming!" Heera ran past the crowded tables and grabbed a bottle of soju from the refrigerator before giving it to the middle-aged man. She jotted down the table number before rushing to seat the next customers with a tired but big smile on her face.

"Welcome!"

Kris sat down outside the convenience store and groaned with his face planted on the table. His stomach was growling but he was stupid to leave his wallet in the car he stupidly gave to his secretary.

"This was not worth finding who my real friends are." He lifted his face and put his chin on the table. "At least I now know that I don't have any."

Kris closed his eyes and laid his cheek on the table before falling asleep.

Heera wiped the table next to a full one with middle-aged women gossiping about the latest trends.

“Oh! Did you guys hear?”

Heera wasn’t usually one to eavesdrop but she found herself leaning closer when one name caught her full attention.

“What?!” She yelled at the table, making the women gasp and jump.

The other customers and waiters stared at her in shock as she threw the rag on the ground before running out of the restaurant.

Heera took out her phone and called him but it went straight to voicemail.

“Come on, Kris. Pick up.” She bit her thumbnail as she waited for a cab.

“Where to, miss?”

“Wu Electronics, please.”

Heera got out of the car and rushed inside.

The lady at the front desk bowed, “What can I do for you, miss?”

Heera slammed her palms on the counter. “I’m here to see Kris Wu.”

The lady frowned and tilted her head to the side. “He left before lunch.”

“What?” Heera sighed and looked at the time. It was past dinner time. He’s probably sitting alone somewhere. Did he eat?

Heera faced the lady and thanked her before running out of the building. She ran to the convenience store where they used to meet and frowned when he wasn’t there.

She turned to search somewhere else but turned around and walked into the store. With two banana milks and triangle kimbaps in her hands, she kept searching while calling him multiple times before she ended up at the park nearby.

Kris was slowly swinging on the swings, looking down while playing with the sand. He looked up when he saw a pair of shoes stop in front of his.

His eyes widened when he saw a plastic banana milk carton in front of his face.

“Heera…” She put the milk in his hands before sitting on the swing next to his.

“I knew you’d be sitting alone somewhere like this. What a loser,” she joked.

The corner of Kris’ lips lifted into a lopsided smile as he looked at the banana milk in his hands.

“Ah! I also brought this.” She gave him the kimbap and took her own out. “I figured you would have starved the whole day. Sorry it’s not much.”

Kris stared at the food on his lap and smiled. “No, this is more than enough. Thanks.”

Heera beamed at him before taking a bite of her kimbap.

Kris stared at her with adoration in his eyes. I shouldn’t have doubted you. Well now that I know-

“So, where are you staying now?”

“Huh?”

“You went bankrupt, Kris. You probably need a place to stay, right?”

Kris bit his lower lip, “Actually-”

“You can stay at mine.”

Kris’ ears perked up at her words. “What? I can?”

Heera nodded, “Of course! It’s small but I can fit one more person.”

Kris nodded and thanked her before opening the plastic wrapper of the kimbap and taking a bite.

Keeping it a secret for a little longer won’t hurt.
