Hyejung peeked outside her bedroom window on the third floor of her parent's mansion with her chin propped on the palm of her hand. She dreamily sighed and tilted her head as she watched Mingyu ordering the male servants around.

She giggled as she remember how small he used to be when he first came to the mansion, following his grandfather who was the head butler at the time. They played outside in the fields, going on imaginative adventures, and eventually went to the same high school. They were so close until they graduated high school and Mingyu's grandfather retired.

Mingyu then took his grandfather's place and became strict and stern about everything. And along the way, he grew enormously tall and handsome. And somewhere in between, Hyejung caught herself falling for her butler.

Mingyu finished his orders and was about to head back inside when the window above him caught his eye. He saw Hyejung, who happily waved at him, and instead of smiling back, he curtly nodded and walked inside.

Hyejung stopped waving and frowned. "What happened to my goofy Gyu?"

"Do you need a ride?"

Hyejung shook her head, "Mingyu's coming to pick me up."

"Mingyu as in your butler Mingyu?"

Hyejung frowned at her friend. "He's not my butler. He's my friend."

"That you're in love with," Jenny added. Hyejung hit her arm, making her wince. "He's just a friend."

Jenny raised a brow at her. "Is he even a friend anymore? I thought he didn't talk to you anymore."

"He does, too!" Hyejung pouted, trying to defend her precious relationship with Mingyu. She spotted a black Mercedes Benz parked next to the mall and gasped in delight. "He's here! Bye, Jenny!" Hyejung waved and ran to the car.

She giddily opened the car door and sat in the passenger seat. "Hey, Mingyu!"

Mingyu kept his eyes forward, "Hello, Miss Hyejung."

Hyejung frowned but replaced it with a smile. "Where should we go? Should we go to the cafe we always visited after school? Or what about the movies? We haven't seen anything together in a while-"

"You should sit in the back. I'm here as your chauffeur, not your friend."

Hyejung caught the coldness in his voice and obliged. She sat in the backseat and sulked while he drove home.

Hyejung lied on her stomach on her bed and sighed as she reminisced about the time she and Mingyu were still friends.

Hyejung peeked out her bedroom door and made sure the coast was clear. "Come on." She gestured Mingyu to come out.

They tiptoed down the hall and stairs to the back door. "What if we get caught?"

Hyejung looked back at him and smiled, "Then you're going down with me." She stuck her tongue out and he chuckled.

They successfully left the mansion and walked down the hill in the backyard to get to the main street.

"Ah!" Hyejung tripped on a rock and fell forward on top of Mingyu, making them roll down to the bottom. They landed next to each other and laughed out loud.

"You're so clumsy!" Hyejung breathed out a laugh, "Sorry."

Mingyu stood up first and helped her up. "Let's go," he held her hand and they ran toward the bustling city.

Tears filled Hyejung's eyes as she bittersweetly smirked, "I wish we could go back to those days."

There was a knock on her door. Hyejung quickly wiped her eyes. "Come in."

A maid poked her head inside, "Your parents want to see you."

Hyejung followed the maid downstairs. She furrowed her brows when she saw unfamiliar guests. Among the guests was a young man who was talking to her parents.

She could see Mingyu standing tall at the corner of her eyes. She looked at him, hoping he would tell her what was going on, but he avoided her gaze.

"Hyejung! We'd like to introduce you to someone." Hyejung's mother dragged her to the couch where a middle-aged couple wre sitting. "Meet your fiance and future parent-in-laws."

Hyejung's jaw dropped, "What?"

The lady stood up and cooed, "She's so beautiful! I'm so lucky to have you as my daughter-in-law."

Hyejung didn't react. She was still frozen in shock. I'm getting married?

Her eyes trailed to the young man who was now standing next to his mother. He reached out and held her hand. "Nice to finally meet you, my name is-"

"No." Hyejung pulled her hand back, shocking everyone.

She turned around and ran over to Mingyu. She grabbed his hand and brought him over to the guests and her parents. "I'm going to marry him."

Mingyu stared at her wide eyed while the guests gasped. Her parents nervously chuckled, "She's joking. He's just our butler-"

"I'm in love with him."

Mingyu's eyes grew wider, if that was even possible. He opened his mouth to utter an apology but she cut him off and hugged his arm, pulling him closer. "I'm going to marry Mingyu, mom."

Her mother's legs gave up on her, making her fall back. Her father caught her and the guests crowded around her to see if she was okay.

Hyejung gasped and was about to go to her mother when Mingyu pulled her toward the back door. He led her outside where the air was chilly.

"Are you out of your mind? What are you doing?"

Hyejung smirked, "Now you talk to me."

Mingyu heavily sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. "Hyejung, I'm just a butler, and I always will be-"

"Do you remember running down this hill?" Hyejung asked with her eyes on the tall grassfield that led to the streets.

Mingyu softened but didn't reply.

"Why can't we just go back to when we were friends? You don't even talk to me anymore. You always call me Miss and I hate it." She looked at him with teary eyes.

"Why can't you just be like the old Mingyu I used to know? The Kim Mingyu that I fell in love with?"

Mingyu opened his mouth, trying to form the right words. "I...I'm just doing my job."

"Then can't you quit? You can be a lower rank, or not even work here at all."

Mingyu sighed, "I promised my grandfather I would-"

"I know. That's why I never said anything until now." She bit her lip. "Are you going to let me marry him?"

Hyejung searched his face but couldn't read his expression.

He opened his mouth and she held his breath. "I don't own you. You can do whatever you want." With that, Mingyu walked back inside.

Hyejung's eyes watered and she let the tears fall.

After letting her tears dry, Hyejung walked back inside.

Mingyu was in the kitchen, ordering the chefs around. He glanced up at her and for the first time, she ignored him and walked to the living room.

If you don't want me, then I'll walk away from you.

Hyejung plastered a smile on her face and walked over to the guests. "So, when's the wedding?"
