Joshua whistled as he locked the door of his house. He chuckled when Mochi yelped at him while trying to go down the stairs.
"Hold you horses, boy." Joshua shoved the keys in his pocket and started to walk down the stairs.
He walked him all the way to the park that was two blocks away.
Mochi huffed with his tongue sticking out.
"Tired already?" Joshua chuckled and sat down at a bench to rest.
Mochi sat down on the ground and looked at the big park.
Joshua leaned back and looked at the sky.
The last time he was here, he was crying, he remembered. His mother passed away from cancer and he came to let it all out.
He stopped when he heard an angelic voice singing. He first thought it was his mother's voice from heaven until he opened his eyes and saw a girl sitting on the swingset under the moonlight.
Joshua rubbed his eyes to check if she was real but once he opened them again, she was gone.
The only thing he saw was the swing slightly moving with a carton of banana milk on the ground next to it.
Joshua sipped his banana milk and looked around the playground. I wonder who she is.
Joshua almost choked on his milk when he heard the voice again. He looked around but didn't see anyone there.
He started to get creeped out. Was it a ghost?
"Mochi, you hear that too, right?" He looked down and almost screamed when he found an empty leash.
He threw his milk away and ran around the playground to search for him.
"I knew I should've bought a smaller sized leash!"
Joshua huffed as he wiped his sweat. "Where is he?"
Just then, he heard the voice again. But this time, she wasn't singing.
"Oh my gosh! You're so cute! Where's your owner, boy?"
Joshua turned around to see a girl picking Mochi up. Mochi her face, making her giggle.
"I'm right here."
The girl looked up at him in surprise and quickly put Mochi back on the ground.
"Sorry, he just ran up to me. I swear, I didn't steal him!"
Joshua laughed, "I know. He's a troublemaker." He picked Mochi up and pet his head.
"I like your voice."
Leah gasped, "You heard? Sorry if I was disturbing you."
Joshua shook his head. "Your voice is beautiful. Even Mochi fell for it."
"I guess he did." Leah laughed, and Joshua thought it was more beautiful than her singing.
"Uh, well I should get going. It was nice meeting you, and Mochi."
Joshua smiled, "Me too. Wait! Can I get your name?"
She turned around and smiled. "It's Leah."
"And I'm Joshua."
"Well, I guess I'll see around then, Joshua."
Joshua dreamily sighed as she walked away. He looked down at Mochi and nudged his head.
"I owe you one." Mochi barked back and stuck his tongue out, making him laugh.
