“Abeoji! Must I really marry that childish innocent girl? You knew I had a girlfriend already, didn’t you?! Why did you still put me in an arranged marriage with her? You know I don’t like her!”

Myungsoo screamed at his dad in his study room.

“Myungsoo-ah. Listen to me. Your girlfriend isn’t a good girl. You don’t know anything about her! Just… Listen to me and get married with Jiyeon okay? She loves you! I can see from her eyes. She’s sincere about this marriage!”

His dad let out the longest sigh he ever had before.

“But! Abeoji! You don’t even know Suzy!! We’re together and I love her! I don’t love that girl I’m arranged to marry at all! I swear abeoji! I will not even step into the wedding hall when the time comes.”

Myungsoo glared at his dad and stormed out of their mansion. They lived in a huge mansion with maids and butlers. Myungsoo is the only child in the Kims so he’s being brought up to be a brat. He always get what he wanted and this time round too. He wouldn’t give in to his dad and mom. He wouldn’t allow his parents to manipulate his life and instruct him what to do next.

He wanted a life of his own and he intended to create it himself.

So this time will be the first and last time he showed his rebellious side. He drove off from the mansion and headed to his girlfriend’s house.

“Suzy Honey!” Myungsoo hugged her once she opened the door for him.

“Hey Myungsoo oppa! You’re here!” Suzy patted his back and invited him in.

“Honey, let me stay here for tonight, eo?”

“No can do, oppa. My parents are here and they don’t know I have a boyfriend now.” She smiled and patted his cheeks.

Myungsoo sighed deeply, “Fine then. I’ll get a hotel later.”

He left after a while to find a hotel for him to stay for a few nights.

He finally settled in his room and lied down on the bed tiredly.

He was about to fall asleep but his phone rang.

Without looking at the caller’s ID, he picked up the phone.

“Hello.”

“Myungsoo oppa!”

Myungsoo groaned at that voice he found irritating.

“What.”

He spat which made Jiyeon slightly gulped at the coldness in his voice. But still, she pushed it away.

“Oppa! Abeonim said you left the house this noon and didn’t come home at all! Tell me where you are please? I will take care of you!”

She was back to her cheerful and innocent personality.

“I told you before. Stop disturbing me and my family. I don’t get why you wanted to marry me that much and I surely don’t trust that you love me with all your heart. You wanted money right? I can give you. Just get out of my life.”

Jiyeon choked back on her tears and breathe in deeply. She knew Myungsoo was always being harsh on her and she had already gotten used to it.

But this is the first time she called her ‘money digger’.

“Oppa! Don’t be like this! Don’t you remember why I love you?! I love you whole-heartedly and that’s true! I wouldn’t lie to the one I love! I will see you next Monday at the wedding okay! Be sure to come then, oppa! Love you!”

Myungsoo scoffed at his phone and chucked it one side before falling into deep sleep.

On the other side, Jiyeon quickly ended her call in order to let her tears dropped on time. “I don’t love your money, oppa… I love you…”

She cried for the countless time after meeting her childhood lover again.

Myungsoo moved to America due to his parents’ work when he was 10. Jiyeon’s parents were close friends of his parents and always brought her over to their mansion.

The two kids always played together and even studied in the same school. They were childhood sweethearts. Even their parents thought they would be together when they grew up.

However, Myungsoo’s parents had to leave for America when he’s 10 so they were being separated.

Jiyeon could still recall how her childhood’s lover would take care of her and love her with all his heart. She even remembered them agreeing to find each other when they grew up and get married when they turned 21, the legal age for marriage.

But now, her childhood’s lover forgets all about their past and even had a girlfriend. She saw both of them holding hands before. She saw them giving each other pecks before. She saw how they would hug each other before separating before. And all she could think was, *that should be me… I’m Myungsoo oppa’s sweetheart when we’re young.*

The more she thought about it, the more she cried her hearts out.

Myungsoo’s dad approached her one day and told her what he found out about Suzy. Thus asking her to agree to the marriage he proposed for his son and helped him out.

Jiyeon totally agreed with his idea since,

No. 1: She wanted to help her love.

And No. 2: Simply because he’s her love. She wanted to marry her love and hoped for a chance to fight for his heart.

Ever since that proposal was being brought up to Myungsoo, he made a fuss out of everything and became to treat Jiyeon more harshly than ever.

She cried and cried into her pillow and drifted off to sleep, slowly waiting for Monday to come.

Her waiting paid off.

Monday came and she went to the church with her parents.

Her parents helped her in the wedding preparations, together with Myungsoo’s parents. They went to get the rings, the dress and the tuxedo. They even approached the wedding planner themselves and told them to prepare this huge wedding in the church for their children.

Jiyeon was carrying a smile the whole morning.

She changed to her dress and got ready at the holding room. People came in to greet and congratulate her and even compliment her beauty.

Finally, the time came and she had to walk out to her altar. Her parents were beside her and she was hugging her dad’s arm, preparing to leave the room.

But just at that moment, the door opened and Myungsoo’s parents came in.

Panic was written on their faces.

“Jiyeon-ah. Myungsoo’s not here yet. I think he’s really not coming. He told me before.” Myungsoo’s dad sighed and loosened his tie.

“WHAT?! Myungsoo’s not coming at all?! How irresponsible of him!” Jiyeon’s dad raged and shook his head.

“I’m sorry, buddy. I brought him up badly.” Myungsoo’s dad sighed and sat down on the couch sadly.

“It’s not your fault, I’ve got that. Your son’s just irresponsible. I really thought they will get married when they grew up since they’re sweethearts when they’re younger. To think I anticipated this day much.”

All this while, Jiyeon stood there like a statue and was digesting the news about Myungsoo. *He really didn’t come…*

She bit onto her bottom lips and let her tears rolled down her cheeks.

Without any explanation, she dashed out of the room in her dress and ran off to her favourite hide-out: her house by the sea which her dad brought for her.

While this commotion was going on in the church, Myungsoo was on the way to meet his girlfriend at her house.
