Myungyeon, Ahreum, Sungyeol

Jiyeon is an orphan ever since she can remember. It seems that her parents left her at the orphanage and lived her life alone with no one caring about herself. When she was able to get out of the orphanage along with her only best friend Ahreum, they managed to struggle through life with small amounts of money from their waitresses’ jobs. One night, when Jiyeon and Ahreum were about to close the bar where they worked 2 mysterious boys barged in and somehow forced them to hide with them till the ones searching for them left. Then they started to tell each other life stories while drinking and the boy Myungsoo got drunk after staring at Jiyeon the whole night receiving her glances full of admiration. It was obvious that some spark burnt in their heart for one another and apparently Sungyeol, Myungsoo's best friend saw it while Ahreum was clueless. Suddenly some gangster tracks them and tries to kill Myungsoo but Jiyeon saves him risking her life. After she’s put in the hospital, Myungsoo lose contact with her unfortunately and lives 2 years looking frantically for the girl that belongs in his heart. Finally they meet at the same bar and Myungsoo gets drunk confessing finally at Jiyeon and she somehow drags him at her apartment and finds out that all this 2 years while she suffered thinking she will never see him again, he loved her too. Then Myungsoo ask her to be his wife and Jiyeon gladly accepts it while discovering the hilarious secret that their best friends Sungyeol and Ahreum are actually lovers~

“Reumie~ Got everything packed? Remember-”

“We won’t step back here again so leave nothing behind. I know, Yeon! You’re becoming to nag like that old woman now~”

“Yah! Reumie!-”

Ahreum cupped her hand over Jiyeon’s mouth, when she heard some footsteps nearing.

“Shh… Let’s pretend to be sleeping.” They did as planned, and finally, when the door closed they waited before they heard the door from the other side of the hall closed and locked.

“Done. Let’s go now, Yeon~”

Jiyeon nodded her head once, and hooked the sling bag over her shoulders easily, “Shall we go now, Reumie? No regrets?”

“Oh please. The only regret in my life is to stay in this orphanage for so long and to stay under the wrath of the old woman for so long. We’re like her maid!”

“I feel bad for the other kids though.”

“They’re old enough too, Yeon. They’re even older than us. Let them be.”

“Only by a year! We’re 18 and they’re only 19. Should we ask them along?”

“No. It would be troublesome. And I don’t like their attitudes too. They think they owned this place too and often bully us! Yeon! Don’t you remember?”

“You’re right.”

“Let’s go now. Before anyone wakes up.”

Jiyeon followed Ahreum out to the front door, and they sneaked out after grabbing three days of food supplies and squeezing them into their bags.

“We’ll find a job soon, and we can definitely survive.”

“We’ve been through it before. Don’t worry, Reumie~”

Ahreum smiled as she hooked her arm around Jiyeon’s shoulders, “I’m glad I met you, Jiyeon. My best buddy in the world.”

“Me too, Ahreumie.” Jiyeon sent her a genuine smile, and they walked down the streets happily, celebrating the day that finally arrived: the escape from the orphanage.

Both of them were kids when they were being placed outside the orphanage, and they had no choice but to survive on their own inside.

It was nothing like any other nice orphanage people sees on TV.

It was hell for them.

The old lady would only give them meal if they do their work, and the older kids would often bully them since they were the youngest.

They don’t even remember when they joined the orphanage too.

Since then, the two same aged friends had been through thick and thin together, and they suffered the same fate together.

One night, they finally had enough and Ahreum had the thought of escaping. Of course, Jiyeon was tempted and was in it at once.

They planned it for one whole month, before finally escaping the orphanage.

They had to plan where they will head to, and they had to steal some money from the old lady too. Well, it wasn’t stealing to them, it was just taking back what they deserved by helping her clean the whole house up.

They even took the food supplies enough for three days, since it would take one night to head over to Seoul, and maybe another two nights to get a job there.

They planned it out perfectly.

But to their dismay, no one wanted two girls who had no work experiences before, and they don’t even have a skill.

The two girls reached their limit.

It was already the fourth night they escaped and they had lost all energy since they haven’t taken any food intake that noon.

“Do you regret escaping now, Reumie?”

“Nope.”

“Me too.”

They looked at each other and shared a laugh before Ahreum landed her head on Jiyeon’s shoulder. “Will we survive huh?”

“Of course we will.”

“We’re tough, right?”

“Yes, we are.”

Jiyeon smiled and placed her head on top of Ahreum’s then. “We will survive through this. We will walk around to look for more jobs tomorrow, hmm?”

“Okay.”

Right when Jiyeon was about to close her eyes, Jiyeon could see a figure walking towards them. “Hey, girls? I’ve seen you girls here for the whole day. Are you okay?”

Jiyeon managed to open her eyes widely, and looked up at the voice’s owner, “We’re fine.”

“Really? Do you need some place to rest?”

“No, it’s okay.”

The guy frowned and squatted down to their height. “Why are you girls here anyway?”

“We escaped from the orphanage, and we’re looking for a job now.”

“Job? Are you keen to work as a bartender?”

Jiyeon woke up t her senses immediately, and shook Ahreum up too. “Bartender?”

“Yeah. I owned a bar, and I need bartenders now. If you’re keen to work for me, why not join me? I can provide you a place to stay too. But the pay would be low, would it be okay?”

“SURE!” Ahreum agreed at once, but turned solemn the next, “But we can’t mix alcohol at all. We had no skills at all. And it’s not a job that we would sell our bodies right? We won’t do work like that.”

“Don’t worry, girls.” The guy seemed to be their savior, and he looked kind-hearted too, “I open a bar, not a nightclub. I promise it’s not about selling bodies or whatsoever. Only bartender. And you girls will be in the same station, deal?”

The girls looked at each and smiled brightly before turning back to the guy, “Deal!”

He took them back to his bar which was just opposite the street, and indeed, the girls realized it was just a bar.

Customers were sitting down on the tables, drinking some alcoholic drinks, and talking among themselves.

It looked decent.

“Come on over! I’ll show you girls your room. It’s small though, I hope you don’t mind that.”

They followed the guy into the back house with slight hesitation, but he did as said. He showed them a small room at the back, but it was comfy enough for the girls who had no homes.

“Thank you, erm…”

“Wu Yifan.”

“Thank you, Yifan-ssi. You’re Chinese?”

“Yeah.” Yifan shrugged his shoulders and smiled warmly, “I came over from China to study and also to earn some money.”

“I see…” Jiyeon whispered before turning her body to face him completely, “Thank you, Yifan-ssi!”

“You can drop the formalities. We’ll be colleagues from now on.” Yifan smiled, “Just call me oppa will do. Or in our country, younger ones will call us gege. You girls should be younger than me right? I’m 23.”

“Gege?”

“Yup. It meant oppa too.”

“Yifan gege~ I’m Jiyeon! And this girl is Ahreum! We’re best of friends since young and we’re 18 this year!” Jiyeon beamed and took the initiative to hug him, which tensed him actually. “Thank you, Yifan gege.”

“No worries.” Yifan cleared his throat to hide the embarrassment away, and headed towards the door. “Rest well tonight, girls. I’ll teach you girls some mixing of alcohol tomorrow noon, alright?”

“Okay!”

And he left.

Ahreum squealed like a kid and hugged Jiyeon tightly, “We have a place to stay now! And even a job! Oh my~ We’ve met our savior, Yeon~”

Jiyeon hugged her back equally tight before heading for the bed at once. “Yeah~ We’ve met our savior!”

Yifan, on the other hand, was smiling as wide as he ever did before. *Jiyeon… She’s cute.*

It had been two months since the girls joined the bar, under Yifan.

They had a fun time with the boss himself, since they were the only bartender in the bar, and Yifan too, had the joyous time in his life with the two girls joining his bar to work for him.

The bar was doing great too.

Even though Yifan gave them little for their work, they didn’t mind that.

They couldn’t thank him enough too, since he gave them a place to stay.

“Girls~ Close the door after cleaning up, alright? I have to go now.”

Jiyeon narrowed her eyes as she eyed him playfully, “Some girls are waiting for you huh, gege?”

“Nope.” Yifan poked her forehead and pushed her back into the bar, “Stop joking around, young lady. Go back in and lock the door after you’ve done cleaning.”

“Yes yes, gege~ Since when did you become so naggy?”

“Yah! Park Jiyeon!”

“I’m going in now!” Jiyeon rushing back into the bar, but not before sending her tongue out to tease Yifan.

The tall giant smiled at her behavior and walked away while shaking his head in disbelieved. “Cute as ever.”

He had no idea how he felt for her too, but he knew, she held some space in his heart.

Jiyeon walked back into the bar and joined Ahreum with the cleaning of the glasses, and when they were done, Jiyeon walked back to the front door so as to lock the door up as instructed.

But right when her hands were about to touch the door handle, it pushed open towards her, and two stranger stormed into the bar.

They looked panicky as they looked around frantically.

“Jiyeon~ What’s the noise?” Ahreum walked out from the back house, and almost let out a scream when she saw the two strangers, but one of them got hold of at once.

The other guy pulled Jiyeon and told his friend to follow him, and they rushed towards the back door. “Where can we hide? Where can we hide, huh?!”

Jiyeon blinked her eyes rapidly, since she was afraid, as she pointed to the storeroom. “It’s dark in there… And lots of things inside…”

They heard a loud thud from the front door, and pulled the girls into the storeroom immediately. “Let’s go.”

They managed to find a corner to hide, before the door opened then.

The middle aged looking thud looked around and kicked a few boxes before rushing out to the rest, “They’re not here!”
