“Hi Naeun-ah!” Myungsoo smiled as he sat opposite of Naeun in the café she asked him to meet at.

“Hi Myungsoo.” Naeun let out a small smile, pushing the coffee towards him. But Myungsoo shook his head and pushed it back to her, “I don’t like coffee now.”

Naeun nodded her head in understanding, confirming her thoughts once again. “Myungsoo.”

“Yeah?”

“Let’s end this.”

Myungsoo blinked at her, letting out some small laughter after, “What do you mean, Naeun-ah?”

“What I mean is let’s break up.”

Myungsoo stopped smiling at once and stared at her, “Why?”

“Because you don’t love me anymore.”

The accused man widened his eyes, but he managed to avoid hers. “I… I still do!”

“See. You’re hesitating, Myungsoo.”

“I…” Speechless. He went speechless at once.

“Myungsoo. You love Jiyeon, not me.”

Myungsoo opened his mouth, trying to deny it, but nothing came out. Indeed, that was what he felt a long time ago but he just denied his own feelings since he had Naeun.

“You don’t love me from the beginning at all. I’m just one of your past-time toy, Myungsoo.”

“No, you’re not. I did love you, at a point of time.”

“There. You admitted it.” Naeun smiled once again, relieved to hear that. “But your attention and interest changed when Jiyeon came. Do you even realize something?”

“What?”

“You had been talking about her whenever we’re out on a date. When we’re together, I felt your heart elsewhere. You’re not really there. You had been thinking about her always. You had been changing your interests and habits according to what she likes. Like this coffee, you used to love black coffee, but not anymore after you met Jiyeon.”

“Naeun…”

Naeun smirked instead, “It’s fine. I lost interest in you too. Long ago. But I kept it to my heart since I couldn’t find someone else yet.”

Myungsoo was somewhat relieved to hear that. “Have you found that someone yet?”

“Yup.”

“That’s good to hear then.”

Naeun smiled sweetly, but her fists were clenching under the table, unknown to him. *And you became so dense after you met her.*

“Well… Go to her now. You’re single man now. Keep it in mind, Myungsoo. I’m breaking up with you.”

Myungsoo smiled, happy about how she felt. “Thank you, Naeun. I wish you happiness.”

“You too, Myungsoo. Go get her.” Naeun sincerely wished, “But I have something to confess.”

“What is it?”

“Actually, during our school festival last month, I talked to Jiyeon.”

“Really?”

“Yeah. I told her not to get close to you. I know she likes you too.”

Myungsoo couldn’t stop smiling anymore, “Really? She likes me too?!” He didn’t even realize what Naeun did was wrong, but instead, he only heard what he wanted to hear.

“Yes, Myungsoo. Go now.”

Myungsoo thanked Naeun once again, and sprinted out of the café to her house, leaving poor Naeun behind. “Yes Myungsoo. Go get your love.”

Myungsoo ran all the way to Jiyeon’s apartment, ringing the bell countless times, and he even banged on the door too.

And the door finally opened.

Kim Myungsoo and Park Jiyeon met a year ago.

At that moment, Kim Myungsoo was Park Jiyeon’s crush. She had her eyes on him every time, every moment.

Her friends knew it too, and called her stupid and fool in love, since Myungsoo already had Naeun.

But she continued having a crush on him anyway, hoping one day he would change his view from Naeun to her.

But it was somewhat impossible.

Naeun was the popular and beauty in school.

Her?

She was the commoner and average girl in school. Just a nobody. Why would the perfect man look at her anyway?

Not a chance.

But without knowing, they met.

Myungsoo was playing basketball alone in the park where Jiyeon lived one noon. At that time, it was time for Jiyeon to head out to get some dinner for herself.

Yes, she lived alone since her parents lived in their hometown.

Without knowing the basketball was occupied, Jiyeon tried to walk passed it as a shortcut to the streets.

Her thoughts were long and elsewhere, which caused her to block out any other voices.

So in the end, the basketball hit her face, and blood dripped down from her nose immediately. The culprit gasped in horror when he reached her side and took off his shirt at once, since he had no napkins or tissues.

He used his shirt to wipe the blood away, apologizing at the same time.

Jiyeon was smiling, telling him it’s fine too, but when she finally saw who it was, she became so quiet. She was stunned.

Her crush was there, right in front of her, wiping blood off her nose using his shirt!

She almost fainted right on the spot alright.

Myungsoo was panicking already, when he realized she wasn’t responding to his questions. “Hey, hey! Are you really fine?! Do you need the hospital?! Huh?! I can bring you there now!”

Jiyeon finally got back to her senses when he shook her. “E-Eo…?

“Are you alright? Did the ball hit you too hard? I’m sorry! I can pay the medical fees for you!”

Jiyeon smiled shyly and shook her head lightly, “I’m fine. Don’t worry about it.”

“Are you sure?!”

“Yup!”

“Okay then. Where are you going now?”

“Out to buy dinner.” Jiyeon pointed down the road, “I was heading towards the streets.”

“Ah~” Myungsoo got it at once and smiled brightly, “Then I’ll go with you!”

“Huh?! I’m really fine now!”

“No, I insist.” Myungsoo smiled and wore his shirt back, which only made Jiyeon gasped.

“The shirt has my blood!”

“It’s fine! Don’t worry.” Myungsoo smiled and dragged her along, pulling her out to the streets while holding the ball in his other hand.

“Where do you normally get your dinner?”

“The convenience store.”

“You eat ramen?!”

“And sushi…”

Myungsoo laughed hard at once, “You can eat well huh?”

“I… Yeah… I guess…” Jiyeon blushed instead, embarrassed of her own diet.

Myungsoo ruffled her hair playfully and brought her over to the street store instead, “Don’t eat instant food anymore. You have to eat these. Trust me, it’s yummy!”

Jiyeon stared at the food on the stalls, and truth to be told, she was salivating. “But… I…”

“Don’t worry. I’m treating you!”

“No! This can’t… I can’t…”

“It’s fine. Let’s treat it as the medical expenses okay?” Myungsoo sat her down on the seat before sitting by her side.

He pulled lots of food over and paid for it since he promised, and pushed them to her, urging her to eat them all.

He too, was enjoying it.

After much persuasion, Jiyeon finally started eating, and that was when their friendship bloomed.

The next day, Myungsoo arrived in school and spotted her immediately. “Eo! Jiyeon-ah!”

Jiyeon smiled shyly as waited for him to reach her side.

“I didn’t know you’re a student here too!”

“Yeah… I’m an art student.”
