“Ahh-” Jiyeon held onto her chest while holding onto her kitchen’s island.
It hurts.
Her heart was squeezing the hell out of her again.
“AHH!” And it hurt even deeper.
No one was at home to help her. Not even a single soul. She was alone. She was all alone, in the empty one-room apartment.
That was all she could afford. She had delayed 2 months of rent already, but the landlady was nice enough to keep her there.
She was embarrassed, but she has to survive.
That was all she could do. She had been working too, and studying. Yes, she could go to the school, tributes to her smart brain.
She received scholarship easily, thanks to her perfect results.
She was a clever girl.
But even so, she had no friends. Her family abandoned her. She had no one. She had no one to talk to and no matter what happened, she kept it in her heart.
She didn’t even have a pet, or even a plushie, to talk to.
No one.
And with so many troubles in her heart, she felt pain all the time.
She had no idea why.
She had no idea why her heart hurts.
On top of that, she can’t even afford extra for any medical fees.
Jiyeon let her pain died down before grabbing her small wallet on the counter top, and went out to get her dinner from the convenience store.
It wasn’t a short trip too.
It will take about 15 minutes to the convenience store, and 15 minutes back. She even has to wait for the traffic man to turn green.
Jiyeon was a rather patient girl, so it was alright.
She waited for the man to turn green, grabbed her sushi dinner from the convenience store and headed back to the traffic light.
The traffic turned green after 2 minutes.
However, even before she could reach the other end of the road, she felt light-headed. She felt as though she was floating.
Jiyeon’s eyesight turned blurry.
She couldn’t take it anymore.
She landed onto the ground, right in front of the car beside her.
Of course, everyone was shocked. Some passengers crowded around her and tried waking her up, but she was still unconscious.
The driver got down from his car and rushed to her side, spreading the passengers out at once, saying she needed air.
He did a small check on her before bringing her up.
“Hey! Where are you bringing her to?! Let’s wait for an ambulance!”
“It’ll be too late! I’m a doctor!” The man took out his doctor ID and showed it to them, in which they finally let him go.
The man brought Jiyeon back to his hospital and did a check up on her personally.
She had no physical injuries.
Thank goodness.
The man did a scan on her whole body, and he realized why.
There was a problem with her heart.
There was a small hole in her heart.
She needed surgery soon, otherwise, she couldn’t live if the hole turned bigger.
He had to discuss it with her when she woke up, definitely.
And as such, he remained in her ward, even after his work hours.
He was a doctor, and he wanted to be sure of her condition. She was a new patient, and she needed extra care.
Yes, he waited.
He waited for her to wake up, in which she finally did when sun came up.
“Hey, are you alright?”
Jiyeon frowned and sat up on the bed, trying to get down at once.
The doctor pushed her back to the bed immediately, stopping her from leaving. “I’m your doctor, alright. It’s fine here.”
Jiyeon shook her head and attempted to leave again, but he stopped her, once more. “You can’t leave now.”
Jiyeon frowned and looked up at him. “Why?”
“You need to have a surgery.”
“I don’t need one.”
“You don’t even know what’s going on with your body and you reject doing one?”
“I don’t need any surgery.” Jiyeon was determined. She pushed him away and stood up from the bed successfully.
But she wobbled.
He caught her at once and sighed sadly. “You’re weak now.”
“I don’t want a surgery.”
“Tell me why.”
Jiyeon couldn’t even speak.
“Tell me why not?”
“I don’t have money!” There. And she was sad.
The man sighed again and helped her down to the bed, “That can’t be an excuse.”
“I don’t need a surgery.”
“Alright alright.” Luhan was mad. He can’t even help her at all. To him, she was a patient, and he always helped patients.
But this time, he can’t even help her.
“I’ll get you discharged. Where is your guardian?”
Jiyeon lowered her head sadly.
“Where are your parents?”
“I have no one.”
He frowned at once and lowered to her level, facing her. “It’s okay. I’ll get you discharged. But you have to promise me something.”
“What?”
“You have to tell me every day when you reach home.”
“Why?”
“I have to know you’re alright before I could sleep. I’m your doctor.”
“But how?”
“I’ll give you my number.”
“I…” Jiyeon frowned and shook her head sadly, “I don’t have a phone.”
“Then I’ll go to you every night. Tell me your address.”
“It’s fine.”
“No. I need to know you’re fine or I can’t even sleep. You must be a student now, right?”
“Yes.”
“Where’s your school?”
Jiyeon looked at him sadly, “Why are you asking me so many questions about myself?”
“Because I need to know.” He simply smiled. “Alright. First, tell me your name.”
“Park Jiyeon.”
“Age.”
“17.”
“School?”
“Manwon High.”
“Address.”
Jiyeon told him everything he asked for, and she was finally being discharged. “I will be going to your house every night alright?”
“Every night?”
“Yes.” He assured, “And my name is Luhan. Xi Luhan.”
“Luhan?”
“Yes. I’
