Myungyeon

Arranged marriage. Myungyeon dated once before but broke up due to misunderstandings and busy lives. Both from rich family but one day, Jiyeon's family went bankrupt. In the end, Jiyeon's parents ask for Myungsoo's parent help. So they suggested for arranged marriage for their children. Myungsoo readily agree as he still harbour feelings for Jiyeon & want her to fall in love with him again. However Jiyeon disagrees as she already has boyfriend and hated Myungsoo to the core. She still didn't know her family went bankrupt and thought Myungsoo's family was the one that needed help. So Myungsoo told her parents to keep it a secret and his family will just help her family. Myungsoo even decide on 1 yr contract marriage. If she still doesn’t fall for him, he'll let her go after year.

“Oppa, how could you agree to this arrangement?”

Myungsoo didn’t meet eyes with Jiyeon, who just accused him of that. Instead, he had his eyes only on the floor.

“Oppa, I’m talking to you! You’re always like this! Ignoring me and keeping silent to yourself. That’s why we broke up last year! You didn’t even bother to explain when I caught you in a bar with a girl who just happens to be your client!”

Myungsoo sighed inwardly and finally shifted his eyes to her, “I’m sorry. I can’t ignore my parents’ request, you know that too.”

Jiyeon sighed deeply and stood up from her seat, “Fine then. Let’s go on with this arrangement. We’ll get married but I’ll continue to meet my boyfriend even though we’re married.”

And she left.

Myungsoo watched her as she walked out of the café and let out another sigh inwardly. “Are you really going to be this cruel? I still love you, Park Jiyeon.”

He had no choice but to turn upset again.

The wedding ceremony was done in the morning, as requested by Jiyeon since she wanted it to be over and done with fast.

After the reception, the couple got into their car and the chauffer drove them to their new house their parents got them.

“I’ll be going out later.” Jiyeon announced right when they entered the house and walked towards the master bedroom. “You can use the room, I won’t be back anyways.”

And she disappeared into the washroom.

Myungsoo sat on the bed and looked at the bathroom with another sigh. “How am I supposed to get you back if you’re like this?”

 He waited for Jiyeon to return so he could stop her. “Jiyeon-ah.”

“What do you want?”

Myungsoo pulled out a folded paper from his pocket and handed it to her.

“What’s that?”

“Take it.”

She took it, obediently, and read it. “One year contract?”

“You hate me, don’t you?” Myungsoo whispered, but she heard it. Jiyeon let out a fake cough and ignored his eye contact.

“I know you do.” He started, “It’s fine. We’re married because of our parents too. To say the truth, I still have feelings for you.”

“Don’t lie.”

“I really do.” Myungsoo decided to spill everything. “That’s why I never once had a girlfriend this whole year. You know it too, Jiyeon. I know you do.”

And she kept silent.

“I still love you. My heart wants you, but I know you don’t.”

“Then why are you telling me this?”

“I’ll give myself one year, and if you still hate me, we’ll get a divorce. One year isn’t a long time, right? We have to explain it to our parents too. I’ll tell them if it really happens, don’t worry.”

Jiyeon read the contract again, and looked back to him. “This is it? There’s no condition or whatsoever?”

“Nope.”

“Okay then. One year and we’re over.” She signed the paper at once, before returning the paper to him.

But before even he could take it, Jiyeon took the paper back. “I’ll keep this paper. In case you deny this contract a year later.”

And she left, again.

Myungsoo looked at her back – yet again – and sighed for the nth times that day. “But still, you were pretty in your wedding dress.”

Jiyeon didn’t return home that night as she had said.

She only returned home the next morning, and Myungsoo wasn’t asleep. He waited for her in the living room for the whole night.

It did shock Jiyeon, since he never once did that to her before.

Back then, when they were together, they often stayed over at each other’s apartment but if Jiyeon were late to his apartment, he would go to sleep first while she waited for him if he was late.

To her surprise, he waited the whole night. “Why are you still up?”

“I’m waiting for you.”

“Don’t do things like this. It’s weird.”

Myungsoo walked to her side and took her bag and coat off, which surprised her even more. “It’s not! Don’t worry about this. I’ve got it. I said I’ll get you back within a year and I’m trying to change now!”

Jiyeon scoffed lightly and snatched her items back, “It’s fine. Don’t even change, it’s really weird.” And she left for the bathroom in the master bedroom.

Jiyeon looked at the neat bed and frowned lightly. “He really didn’t sleep and waited for me?” But she didn’t even bother to think about it for another second. “Whatever, it’s his decision. Not mine.”

She washed up, changed into a new clothing and went for work.

But Myungsoo was still in the living room. “Aren’t you going to work?”

“I took off today!” Myungsoo looked energetic though.

“Why?”

“I’m going to do grocery shopping later and fill up the empty spaces in the house and I’m going to make us dinner. Come home early okay?”

Now she knew why. “Do you really think I would come home just for your dinner?”

“Nope, but I’ll still make it!”

“Don’t bother, oppa.” Jiyeon sighed as she wore her heels, “I’ll be meeting my boyfriend for dinner later.”

And she left for work.

Myungsoo sent her to the door and his smile dropped once she was out of sight. “I really wish we could have a dinner together again though.”

But he didn’t let his hopes down.

He will make the dinner he promised.

And he did.

But she too, did as she said.

She didn’t come home for dinner in the end.

Myungsoo waited and waited and waited, and she only returned home when the clock 11. “Jiyeon-ah! You’re home!”

“Why are you still up, oppa?”

“I was waiting for you to eat!”

Jiyeon saw the untouched on the table and felt a little guilty. “You didn’t eat?”

“Nope! I can’t eat without you!”

“Gosh.” Jiyeon ruffled her hair angrily and stormed to the bedroom, “Sleep on the couch tonight and I’ve eaten! Go eat the food or throw them away it’s up to you!”

And she slammed the door harshly.

Myungsoo walked back to the dining area sadly, with a total loss of appetite. He threw away the food in the end and went to the couch for the night.

It was cold, but it was bearable.

He didn’t want to upset her further though.

And he slept that way.

The next morning, he woke up even earlier than Jiyeon, thanks to the weather, and decided to make breakfast for her on bed.

He sneaked into the room and placed the tray on the bed before shaking her up, “Jiyeon-ah~”

“What?”

“Wake up! Time for breakfast! You have work too!”

“Just get out will you?”

“I made breakfast for you though.” Myungsoo chuckled as he placed the tray on the bedside table before pulling her up. “Come on~ You have to eat it!”

Jiyeon frowned and pushed him away before staring at the food, “Why did you make them? I don’t even want it.”

“But breakfast is important.”
