Pairing: Lee Jongsuk/Jiyeon, Krystal

Plot: Jiyeon is very beautiful but she hides it so she is nerd. She has arranged marriage with Lee Jongsuk. Lee Jongsuk has a girlfriend named Krystal. Jiyeon love Lee Jongsuk so much.

Jiyeon walked into the school with her head low, almost hiding it behind the books which she was carrying in her arms. Those were the thick books which can’t fit into her bag and she had no choice but to carry it.

That’s right, she took books home to study often that’s why her bag was heavy, almost every day.

She pushed the huge and hideous spectacle, which was without degree, up her bridge of nose and brisk walked to her locker.

She could hear murmurs about her again.

But every time she heard them, she ignored them.

The students would just talk about her when she passed by and that’s it.

So far so good.

No students had attempted to bully her physically just because she’s a nerd.

She opened her locker and placed the thick books which were in her arms into it before taking out relevant books for the day.

 “Look! It’s the nerd again.”

She dug her head further into the lockers when she heard that, getting too embarrassed to look back at them.

“She always had those ugly specs with her.”

“Oh please, she always wears that.”

“Whatever. Let’s go. She’s nobody anyways.”

That group of arrogant students went out of her range and she could finally breathe properly. “It’s okay, Jiyeon.” That’s all. She would always talk to herself and encourage herself to be brave before going into the class for lesson.

She was the only nerd in school so people would always outcast her.

She sat alone in the back in class.

She ate alone in the garden with her own packed lunch.

She had no partners when it comes to project work and P.E lessons.

She had no one by her side, all the time.

In class, and at home too. She was always alone.

She came for a wealthy family, one of the richest families in Korea. They owned most of the shopping malls and hotels all over the world.

Just because she came from a wealthy family, and just because she was the only child, she felt lonely. Her parents seldom stayed at home with her, nor did they enjoy some family time with her. All they did was to work their sweats off.

The only one who talked to her was her personal maid at home. She wouldn’t call her maid though. She would rather call her ‘ahjumma’ since she had been with Jiyeon since young.

She took a deep breath before walking into the class, from the back door.

Well… Since everyone was busy chatting among themselves, no one noticed her and she was glad at that thought.

But she thought wrong.

“Oh, wow~ Look who’s here!” The popular guy in class cooed and eyed Jiyeon as she sat down on her seat.

But her flew right up when it touched the seat of the chair. She looked down to only see thumbnails on it.

They do pranks on her sometimes. Just small pranks.

“Ouch~” The same guy winced playfully and laughed with his friends, “It looked hurt~”

Jiyeon cleared the thumbnails and threw them away before returning back to her seat timidly, and at the same time, ignoring the rest of the class.

“Settle down, class!” The teacher saved her this time round. Mr. Im saw how they snickered while looking at Jiyeon and he knew why.

“Lee Jongsuk! Did you play a prank on Jiyeon again?”

Jongsuk shrugged his shoulders and played innocent, “Ssem! You can ask the class! I didn’t do anything to her, right~?”

The class hollered and agreed with him and that left Mr. Im speechless. *I’m sorry I can’t help much, Jiyeon.*

“Fine. Open up to page 143.” He sighed and opened the textbook and began teaching the class on a total new topic.

Jiyeon obeyed but her eyes travelled back to the mischievous boy in her class. She had always admired him from afar, ever since they were 8.

They went to the same pre-school, same middle school and now, same high school. Jiyeon knew him and began to admire him from afar just because he helped her once.

But as for him, he doesn’t even put her into his eyes. He doesn’t even see her at all. He doesn’t even know they were in the same school for their whole school-lives.

All she could do was to heave another sigh and returned her attention back to the lesson.

The day went on with her getting surprise by a few mini pranks from Jongsuk again, but nonetheless, she went home perfectly in one piece.

But yet again, she received another kind of surprise when she reached home.

“Yeon honey, you’re back?”

Jiyeon stared at her parents who were sitting in the living room, waiting for her to come home. “Omma, appa? Why are you guys here?”

Her mom giggled and went over to her, “Awww~ My dear honey. Why are you still wearing those huge spectacles to hide your beauty?” Her mom took off her spectacles but Jiyeon pulled them back. “Omma, you know the reason why. I don’t need friends who love me for my appearance or for your money.”

“Right right. Still thinking about him?”

Jiyeon sighed. “No. I’m tired, I’m going in now.” She bowed a little to the elders and walked back to her room.

But her father called for her, “Wait, honey.”

Jiyeon turned around when she was halfway up the stairs and looked at her dad, “Yes, appa?”

“Change into something nice. We’re going for a dinner at a friend’s house.”

Jiyeon frowned, “I have to go too?”

“Yeah. Go on, change into a pretty dress. We’ll wait for you down here.” Her mom urged her to go before sitting back down on the couch beside her husband.

Jiyeon obeyed and washed herself up before changing into some simple dress with her same nerd appearance.

“I’m done, let’s go.” She hollered as she walked down the stairs but only to receive a disapprove glance from the couple.

“Must you wear the spectacle?”

Jiyeon sighed as a reply and went to get her shoes, “Yes omma… Let’s go.”

The elders could only follow her and get ready to their friend’s house.

“It’s the Lee, do you remember them? I brought you to their house years ago when their son had his 6th birthday.” Her dad cooed as they walked up the flight of stairs to the Lee’s house.

“Not really… It was so long ago, appa!”

“It’s fine. I’ve guessed this much. We were all wearing masks that day too. Now I’ll introduce them to you again.”

And they were being welcomed warmly by the Lee family.

“Nice to meet you, Mr. and Mrs. Lee.” Jiyeon bowed politely when they set eyes on her. The Lee couple giggled and urged them in, “Such a sweet child. Come on in. Don’t catch a cold.”

And soon, they settled down on the couch and were chatting about their lives all these years.

“Sir, dinner is ready.”

Mr. Lee beamed and stood up, “Let’s go to the dining area now.”

“Oh, Jiyeon-ah.” Mrs. Lee called for her in which she replied immediately. “Do you mind going up and call my son down for dinner too?”

“Me?” Jiyeon pointed to herself in shock.

“Yeah. Would you mind?”

Jiyeon tried to eye her parents for help but they simply pushed her over to the stairs, “Go on, honey. Don’t let us wait.”

Jiyeon sighed in defeat and walked up the stairs to find their son.

She walked down the hallway only to find a room with its door close, and she assumed he’s in it.

*Knock knock*

She could hear shuffling sound and soon, the door opened. She held her head low and looked down onto the floor since she’s embarrassed. “Erm… Mr. and Mrs. Lee got me up to bring you down for dinner…”

The guy raised a brow with his head tilted, “Who are you?”

“Erm… I…” Jiyeon finally braved herself to look up but only to receive a huge shock. “You…!”

The guy gasped in disbelief, “Why are you in my house, nerd?! Are you a stalker?!”

“N… No…” Jiyeon mumbled and pointed downstairs, “My family… Dinner…”

“So you are the Park my parents were talking about?” Jongsuk scoffed and crossed his arms while looking at her. “Unbelievable.”

Without waiting for Jiyeon to reply, he pushed her out of his way and walked down the stairs to the dining table.

Jiyeon followed suit after calming herself down and soon, they finally began their dinner.

And silence filled the space for a while.

“Alright, I can’t stand the quietness in here.” Mrs. Lee announced first with Mrs. Park agreeing with her. “That’s right. Yeobo, let’s tell them now.”

Both the fathers placed their chopsticks down and looked at the two confused youngsters.

“So…” Mr. Lee began.

“We’ve decided…” Mr. Park continued.

“TO GET YOU TWO MARRIED!” And the mothers ended it for them happily.

“WHAT?!” Jongsuk yelled in astonishment and that made the poor girl flinched. “YOU’RE ASKING ME TO MARRY THIS NERD?! NOT IN A HUNDRED YEARS! WHAT ABOUT KRYSTAL?!”

Jiyeon bit her lips nervously and she could feel a deep hit in her heart, as if someone just punched it countless times. *Krystal is his girlfriend?*

“You know we disapprove of your useless girlfriend.” Mr. Lee shrugged his shoulders.

“Yeah. I don’t like her.” Mrs. Lee agreed too before turning to Jiyeon with a bright smile, “But I like Jiyeon. She’s cute and pretty.”

Jiyeon smiled weakly at her compliments but only to be shattered by her now-fiancé.

“ARE YOU OKAY, MOM?! DAD?! DID YOU JUST SAY SHE’S PRETTY AND CUTE?! KRYSTAL IS MUCH BETTER!”

“Lee Jongsuk!” Mr. Lee hissed while sending apologetic glances to Jiyeon. “Apologize to her now! You’re being rude!”

“No way. Don’t ever think of me getting married to her. You don’t even know how the whole school despises her!” Jongsuk spat and turned to look at Jiyeon. “And you. Don’t ever think about spreading it to the whole school. I’ll haunt you down forever if you did it.”

Jiyeon gulped in fear as she saw him leaving the dining area back to his own room.

“I’m sorry, Jiyeon-ah. My son is always this hard-headed. Don’t worry. I’ll talk to him.” Mr. Lee apologized to her and her family.

Jiyeon took a deep breath and began, “How about…” But when she saw her parents sending her sad expressions, she decided not to say anything. “Nothing. I just wanted to say I’m okay.”

Her parents smiled gratefully at her in which she did the same thing in return.

*Although it’s true that I like him, I never thought it would turn out this way. If he doesn’t like me like how I like him, I don’t want this marriage too…*

Indeed, when she returned to school the next day, it became worst for her.

Students continued picking and murmuring stuffs about her, but those stuffs were even worse than before.

They began to talk about her body size, her weird and ugly hair which was always up in a bun and they even started guessing her family background, saying she came from a poor family and bribed the principal with her body to get her to this school.

That was the worst thing she ever heard from the rest of the cohort. She was a clean woman, and she came from a wealthy family but she didn’t have the courage to say them all out.

That’s only mentally attack.

When she reached her classroom, it became worst. Not only mentally but also physically attack.

That’s right, by her secret fiancé.

The pranks went even higher where he would splash cold water onto her, tripped her down while she’s walking, threw papers of bad words to her, and many other situations you can think of.

That stopped when the teacher came in and started again during lunch, and when school had ended.

He even instructed the whole school of students to do the same when they saw her.

And they did.

The whole population in school treated her the same way Jongsuk did.

After that night when she knew about the marriage, her live became hell when she’s in school. Only when she returned home did she feel a little better.

Her room was her only hideout and she would cry every night to sleep.

♥♥♥♥♥

It had been a few weeks ever since that day her nightmare started.

She tolerated all of the pranks she received since she can’t afford to let her parents down if her grades dropped. She’s the only child and only hope to them.

She walked into the school with her head hung low again. Ignoring the students around her, she walked to her locker. Letters of hateful words dropped down from her locker but she wasn’t surprised at all. It became her routine to see them now. She would feel weird if she didn’t see those notes for her.

Well, she treated them as her love letters.

She threw them all into the rubbish bin nearby and went back to her locker to take her books before leaving for class.
