Myungyeon

Myungsoo and Jiyeon were arranged by their parents to get married. They became the best of friends in high school that's why both of their parents thought that the two would gladly accept it. However, what they failed to consider was the fact that Myungsoo is already in a relationship with someone. Myungsoo did not take the engagement lightly and made things difficult for Jiyeon that lasted for several months. Seeing that their daughter is having a hard time with the engagement, Jiyeon's parents called off the wedding. Without any explanation, the entire family migrated to another country to start anew. Several years later, Myungsoo and Jiyeon met each other again...this time Myungsoo is the one loving and doing the chasing.

“Omma, I’m going!”

“Soo-ah. Where are you going this time?”

“England.”

“For one month again?”

“Yup!”

“I hope you find her this time.”

“If not, I’ll just go to other country again!” Myungsoo cooed, smiling brightly.

“Make sure you don’t let her go if you see her again, soo.”

“I won’t, omma.”

Mrs. Kim smiled as she sent her son into the cab. “See you in a month’s time, omma!”

And he was off to the airport.

Myungsoo took 3 years to work two jobs a day, earning enough money so he could hop around the world.

It’s all for one purpose.

He wanted to search for that special someone.

He knew who she was, of course. They were engaged before too. But he ruined everything.

Only when she was gone, did he realize his heart was with her the whole time.

Whenever he recalled how he treated her, he couldn’t forgive himself.

But still, he has to find her.

He has to see her again.

He’d been to Rome, Italy, New York, L.A, Canada, Chile, Japan, Beijing, Shanghai, and many other countries – just to search for her.

Yes, he saved up three years of money from his two jobs, and he managed to travel to these countries for a month each.

He has to find her.

One thing he was sure was she wasn’t in Korea anymore.

Myungsoo walked over to the baggage counter and was about to check in his luggage, but a woman from afar caught his eyes.

He left the luggage at the counter and chased after the woman at once.

*One more step. ONE MORE STEP!*

He caught her.

“Jiyeon-ah!”

The girl turned around and stared at him with widened eyes.

“Soo oppa~”

“Eo?”

“What shall we have for lunch today?”

Myungsoo smiled as he ruffled the girl’s hair, “I’m sorry, Jin-ah. I’m having lunch with Jiyeon.”

“Jiyeon again?”

“I’m sorry~ We promised last night!”

“Alright. I understand.” Jinhee smiled, rather fakely. “Go on then.”

“Thanks, Jin-ah. I’ll go now!”

Jinhee watched as he ran away with a bright smile on his face. “Psh. Who’s your girlfriend huh? You love Jiyeon more than me.”

But she didn’t care.

She picked her phone up and dialed for another guy to have fun with.

Myungsoo met up with Jiyeon in the usual restaurant they went to. “I’m late, sorry~”

“It’s okay, soo~”

“Didn’t I tell you to call me oppa?”

“Soo~”

“Psh.”

Jiyeon giggled happily before ordering what they always ordered. “You didn’t go out with Jinhee today?”

“Nah~ I told her I have a date with you.”

Jiyeon laughed, and she was indeed happy deep inside. “Wouldn’t she get jealous?”

“Let her get jealous sometimes!” Myungsoo cooed, “She will know how great I am!”

“It’s not good to treat girls like that, soo.” Jiyeon smiled before turning her head out to stare outside. To her horror, she saw Jinhee leeching herself on another guy, literally.

Jiyeon turned back to Myungsoo and engaged conversation with him, until Jinhee was gone. *Soo can’t see that. He loves Jinhee so much.*

With that, the day ended with Jiyeon so confused.

She doesn’t know what to do.

In the end, she decided to talk to her if she had the chance.

The next day, Myungsoo was to go out with Jinhee for a date, but his parents called him home, asking him to bring Jiyeon along.

He thought something was up so he hurried back after he got Jiyeon, only to realize both of their parents were in his living room, laughing merrily together.

“Ah~ What is this?! I thought something happened!”

Mrs. Kim laughed as she pulled the both of them inside, placing them down on the couch too.

“What’s wrong, imo?”

Mrs. Kim smiled before turning to the adults. “Myungsoo appa, you can say it!”

Mr. Kim cleared his throat and faced the two of them. “We… decided to get the both of you married!”

“WHAT?!” Myungsoo was the first to react.

He was surprised, and horrified.

“But appa!”

“No second word, Myungsoo.” Mr. Kim hissed, and Myungsoo kept his mouth shut at once.

“Since you both are still students, we decided to get you two engaged first. After Jiyeon turned 21, we will get you two married!”

Jiyeon frowned as she looked at her parents, “Appa, omma…”

“Nope. It’s the final say.” Mr. Park hissed too.

The two of them sat on the couch, feeling so lost. Their parents always have the final say in serious issues.

“Ah, right! We’ve bought an apartment for the both of you! Don’t worry! It’s not far away from here.”

They’re neighbors alright.

That simply made the two of them speechless.

“And you will move in this weekend! We’ll fix everything for you guys, don’t worry about it. Just study hard, alright?”

Myungsoo sighed deeply, thinking about Jinhee the whole time.

Jiyeon too, sighed sadly, thinking she was the one who ruined Myungsoo’s love life.

But she loved him too.

She always felt attracted to him, ever since they first became friends. But he had his eyes on another girl so she gave up loving him.

Love just doesn’t go away all of the sudden though.

She thought she could let him go, but no. Her heart still loved him.

But she doesn’t want to ruin his life. She doesn’t want Myungsoo to hate her.

Too late.

He did.

From the moment his parents announced the sudden engagement, he hated her.

He hated her existence.

If she didn’t exist in his life, he would be happily dating with Jinhee, maybe she would be his wife in the future too.

But Jiyeon just had to ruin his love.

From that day on, Myungsoo never once spoke to Jiyeon.

If they met paths, he would glare at her instead, not his usual sweet glances.

That weekend, they did move in together, since their parents insisted. They settled in their apartment and when their parents were gone, Myungsoo gave her the silent treatment again.

Jiyeon sighed sadly as she dragged her feet to the guest room – since Myungsoo locked the bedroom door.

That night, she cried to sleep.

Myungsoo, on the other hand, talked to Jinhee on the whole for the whole night.

The next morning, there wasn’t school for them but Jiyeon woke up early to get breakfast ready. They still have to eat, don’t they?

Jiyeon prepared cereal and milk on the table and waited for Myungsoo to come out.

He did, only when the clock strike 12.

Jiyeon was so hungry but she waited for him. She doesn’t want him to say she ate before him, so she waited.

“Soo. Want to have some breakfast? I got cereal and milk out!”

Myungsoo rolled his eyes as he sat on the couch, ignoring her.
