STUCK

It seemed different to be waking up to see Jongin on a school day. It’s never happened before and he thought of it as something new. He didn’t care that he had to go to school or if it was early in the morning. All he could do was smile at the marvelous figure laying there in front of him.

“Kaibaby, wakey, wakey!” Kyungsoo softly spoke to make sure he didn’t scare Jongin.

“Mmm… what time is it?”

“Time for school, hah.” Kyungsoo sat up and just smiled at how happy he was. Everything seemed so hectic yesterday, but today was something different, Kyungsoo definitely felt a new feeling in the air. He did have some worries about yesterday, but it wasn’t enough to dominate him.

Kyungsoo and Jongin walked into school together with a fresh new feeling for the New Year.

“2014 and it’s with you!” Kyungsoo was so excited to spend more time with Jongin now that they’ve confessed to each other. Jongin chuckled and smiled.

“This is going to be a gr-”

“JONGIN!” Tiffany called out from the other side of the hallway. Kyungsoo felt a fear in him kick in.

“Wh-what is she doing here?!”

“Don’t worry, I won’t let her do anything to you.” Tiffany ran up to the two boys. Her smile seemed so cold in some way and just the fact that she once had a confrontation with Kyungsoo made him very uneasy.

“Hi Kyungsoo!” Tiffany smiled and waved. Kyungsoo softly smiled and waved back, he started walking away before Jongin grabbed onto his wrist. He was surprised to see Jongin do this. He was still facing Tiffany and didn’t turn back to look at Kyungsoo at all. Kyungsoo tried softly pulling out, but Jongin kept a firm grip on him.

“How was your break you guys? I’m sure you had a lot of fun!”

“Yeah, we did. It’s going to get even more fun this year.”

“Oh? How do you know, Jonggie?”

“Don’t call me that name anymore.” Tiffany took this as a tease.

“Sure, whatever Jonggie.” Tiffany smiled and walked away. Jongin turned around to a smiling Kyungsoo.

“Aw, Jong-”

“Finish that and I won’t talk to you for the rest of the semester.” Kyungsoo’s smile went away and he nodded.

“Do you mind letting go of my wrist?” Kyungsoo started pulling his arm to let Jongin see that he was still holding on.

“Oh yeah, oops sorry.” Jongin finally let go and Kyungsoo felt the blood start running again.

“Why’d you do that anyways?”

“I don’t want you walking away whenever she’s around. You’re mind and she should be the one feeling uncomfortable, not you. Do you feel like you’re the third wheel?” Kyungsoo was hesitant, but he nodded.

“Yeah… I just always felt that way before and I guess the feeling didn’t go away.”

“Don’t worry, she’s not going to get in between us, nothing will.” Jongin smiled and reassured Kyungsoo not to worry.

“Alright, I believe you!” Kyungsoo smiled and the bell rang.

“Kyungsoo! Sit with us!” Kyungsoo was searching for Jongin during lunch, but couldn’t find him. Jessica and Baekhyun who were already sitting down found him. They left a lot of seats empty for anyone who wanted to join them.

“Thanks Jess, where’s Chanyeol?” Baekhyun shrugged while still searching the incoming crowd for his boyfriend.

“Baekhyun, it’s not that hard, he’s as tall as a tree.” Jessica stood up on the table and looked through the crowd.

“Hey, get down from there! You’re going to fall!”

“Aw, look at that, Byun Baekhyun cares about me.”

“I’m only trying to help you here…”

“I found him!” Baekhyun jumped up and saw Chanyeol. Jessica started waving her hands and yelling his name. “CHANYEOL, OVER HERE CHANYEOL!” He saw her and waved back and started rushing towards the table.

“Aw, Jongin’s still not around here.”

“Um… I don’t think you’re searching very well…” Jessica pointed to where Jongin was. Walking next to him was none other than Tiffany.

“Aw, look at the two of them together.” Baekhyun tapped on Jessica’s shoulder and leaned in to her ear.

“Psst, Jessica, let me tell you something.” Jessica nodded and listened.

“Um… well… Kyungsoo and Jongin are going out…” Jessica smiled at the good news, but then her smile slowly disappeared. Baekhyun had briefly explained what happened. “Oh… sorry Kyungsoo…” He shrugged.

“There’s nothing I can do, besides they’re just friends after all right? Jongin said that she was a good friend even before they started dating, so I can only guess that there’s nothing more going on.”

“They just hugged…”

“You and I hug all the time when we saw goodbye don’t we?”

“Do you rub my hair and smile at me, too?”

“WHAT?! He didn’t!” Jessica nodded.

“Yep, he did.”

“He does that to me though… She’s such an evil person… Ah, I don’t know what to think. I want to think that they’re just being regular friends, but then I feel like they still have feelings for each other.”

“What you need to do is tell him how you actually feel.” Jessica patted Kyungsoo’s back and saw that he was watery eyed. “Don’t cry over this, come on Soo, you’re stronger than this.” He wiped his eyes and nodded.

“He’s coming over, come on, stop crying.” Baekhyun quickly handed a tissue for Kyungsoo to wipe his tears with.

“Hey guys!” Jongin waved and smiled.

“Hey Jongin!” They all said in unison. Jongin gave Kyungsoo a weird stare.

“Kyunggie, something wrong?” Kyungsoo shook his head and smiled.

“Ah, nothing’s wrong. Nothing at all, hah.”

“Hm… Can I talk to you?” Jessica looked over to Kyungsoo who was wondering what to do. She nodded and he got up to talk to Jongin.

“So, I was wondering, would you mind if Tiffany and I hung out at the library today? I don’t want her thinking that we have to ignore each other now that we’re not going out. Besides, I don’t want to ruin a good friendship that she and I used to have.” Kyungsoo felt his heart drop and the worries kept on flooding in. He wanted to tell Jongin that it wasn’t alright with them that they’re seeing each other, and everything else he had on his mind.

“Yeah… sure. Just let me know when you finish… I’ll be at home.”

“You sure you’re alright about this?” Kyungsoo softly nodded.

“Yeah… totally fine.”

They’re just friends… they’re just friends..
