Being a father is never easy. Most especially, when you have so many responsibilities in hand and your time is split in every way possible. I’m the kind of father who will always give whatever my children wanted, no matter how big or small their wishes are, I give it to them. I don’t even care if what they want is not even possible, all I know is that I have to give them the life that they deserve.

Today is a very special because it’s Gabby’s birthday. I can’t seem to imagine that she’s already ten years old. Time is really passing by so damn fast and all I want is for it to stop even just for a minute. Now that my children are growing up right in front my very eyes, I can’t help but realize that, whatever they grow to be, they are still our children and the most important of all the things we can give to them is unconditional love. I can give them the world, but without love, their journey here on earth would mean nothing.

“Babe”

“Babe…you have to wake up now…please” my wife keeps on shaking me by the shoulders and to tell you honestly, it’s pretty annoying.

I’ve been so busy in finishing my new album, that sleep is already erased from my vocabulary. I actually have forgotten about my role as a husband and father for weeks now and I’m just so thankful that busy days are over, and all I want is to get a long and peaceful sleep. But I guess, my wife will not give that to me for now.

“Five more minutes” I told her lazily and turned my back at her.

“Babe…we have a lot of things to do…I mean…fine! I’ve got a lot of things to do…and I’m about to go to the office now” she wrapped her arm around my waist and rested her chin on the crook of my neck.

“You’re going to work today?” I asked.

As far as I know, I made it clear to my wife yesterday that I want her to spend this day with us because it’s our daughter’s birthday and we have to celebrate it.

“I am” she answered and I turned to look at her “I know that I promised you that I’ll stay here the whole day …but…I really need to attend this board meeting…after all…it won’t take long…I’ll go home right after it finish” she said and I’m not in the mood to argue with her.

“Arasso....are they all awake already?” I asked and she nods.

“They are” _______ answered while drawing circles on my chest, using her index finger “I already told Gabby that I’ll go to work for a while and she permitted me…so we’re all good with that…about the party later…I’ll figure out something fun for us to do…so don’t worry about it anymore” she continued and I chuckled.

As a matter of fact, we don’t have any plans for Gabby’s birthday party yet. Honestly, Gabby doesn’t want to have any parties and all she wants is for me and her mum to be with her the whole day. I guess, she got sick of parties already coz we celebrate a lot every year.

“Are you going to work today?” _________ asked and I shook my head.

“Nope…I promised Gabby that I’ll spend the whole day with her” I answered and ________ gave out a pout.

“Now I’m starting to feel guilty” she said and I giggled.

“Just go to your meeting first babe….I can take care of the kids anyway…just make sure that you’ll go home early” I told her and she nods.

“I promise” she said and gave me a peck on the lips.

“Fine…I love you” I said and leaned in for a kiss.

“Love you too” she replied and got out of bed.

So this just means that I’m going to be a househusband for today and this is pretty interesting. I’m excited to bond with my children and give them all the time that I have.

After freshening up, I went out of our room and that’s where life begins. My boys are running around with their swords in hand, while my girls are watching Barbie on television. If you’re going to look at it, there are really a big difference between boys and girls and I’m about to go in between them to somewhat relate in both parties.

“Hey baby girl!” I sit beside Gabby, shocking her.

“Dad!” she hugged me right away.

“Happy Birthday” I said while brushing some hair out of her face.

“Thank you” she replied cutely, making me smile.

“Mum went to work” Isabella said and I can feel that they are a bit disappointed about it.

“I know…mum has a lot of things to do in the office…but don’t worry…she’ll be here in no time…she just needs to attend a meeting” I informed them and they sighed.

“DAD!” the boys shouted and next thing I know it, I’ve been poked by toy swords already.

“Aigoo” I said and they giggled.

If you’re going to ask me the difference between little boys and girls, I can answer you in just a snap of a finger. Girls are just too timid and boys are really wild and loud, though girls can be hyped sometimes but they still move with poise.

“Kids…you’ll hurt dad” DK told her brothers and I can really hear my wife in her.

“Danny…why do you have to poke dad with your swords? Can’t you see? The tips of those are a bit sharp...be careful” Isabella added, making the boys bow their heads down.

“They are right…you can hurt dad and I’m telling you…mum will surely scold the three of you if she happens to know about this” Gabby said in a tone higher than the usual.

I don’t know, but I feel really protected while listening to my daughters scold the hell out of their brothers. I know that I should be the one doing all the scolding, but I’m not the type of dad who is so sensitive and can’t differentiate play from serious matters.

“It’s all good babies…I’m not hurt anyway” I told the girls and they just looked at me then shifted their gaze to their brothers again.

“Say sorry to dad now” Isabella said with her arms crossed across her chest.

“Go!” Gabby ordered like a total boss.

“We’re sorry dad” the boys said in unison and I hugged the three of them all at the same time.

“Aigoo…it’s OK” I said “But next time…be careful in using that sword…don’t poke your sisters with it...and don’t let Karielle get a hold of that” I told them and they nod.

Well, as expected, my youngest daughter is having a world of her own once again. She’s just too absorbed in watching that she doesn’t even give a damn on what’s going on around her.

After that, I head to the kitchen with my girls and they helped me to prepare breakfast. I’ve noticed that my daughters are really acting mature nowadays and they are very helpful (I wonder what’s gotten into them).

“I can do these babies…no need to help me” I told them, but they just shook their heads.

“Dad…halmeoni told us that we should help you and mum around the house because you guys are really tired and we are already old” Isabella said and I looked at her weirdly.

“You’re not yet old” I said.

There are times that Omma gets a little exaggerated and it’s really making me go insane. I’m thankful for her because she’s been teaching my daughters a lot and she educates them well, thing is, I’m brushing the thought of my three girls growing up so fast and here she is, injecting in their minds that they are no longer kids when the truth is, they are still kids.

“Dad? I have to tell you something…but don’t be mad at me” DK said and I looked at her curiously.

“What is it?” I asked, with my heart beating so fast.

I already prepared myself to hear that DK had broken something around the house or she has eaten chips or something like that.

“I already have a new crush” DK confessed and I just stopped for a moment while the two girls keep on giggling.

This is really unexpected. Yes, I do know that my daughter is crushing on TOP hyung, but it looks like she’s got a new one and it’s pretty shocking to me.

“You’ve a got a new crush” I repeated and she nods.

“Shocking” I added and I’m a bit speechless.

I told myself that I’ll be open to these kind of  things already since I can’t stop them from having crushes, but I guess I’m not that good with it yet. Once again, THEY ARE STILL BABIES!

“Do you want to see him dad?” Isabella asked and I looked at her and next thing I know it, they are showing me a picture of DK with a boy beside her.

“Should I confiscate your Ipad and cellphones?” I asked after looking at the picture.

“Dad! NO!” the girls protested.

“I told you...we should’ve just kept it from him” I heard Gabby say and it made me chuckle.<
