“So, any updates?” He asked as he leaned across the table and gave you that look. He just had a certain way of looking at you, as if when he had his eyes on you there was no one else on his mind, as if you were the only one he saw. At first it had made you blush, because you’d had a weakness for everything he did. Though by now you seemed to be better at hiding things, and the only thing you could feel as a sign of your body betraying you was the fast pace of your heart beat. You folded your hands on top of the table and watched the cup he had placed in front of you. Ever since that one night you had stumbled upon the small and cosy cafe you kept on returning here. It wasn’t that the coffee was better than anywhere else, also, there were different coffee shops near your place where you used to come often. But there were no other cafes where you could talk to someone the way you could here. You’d thought that you would regret telling Baekhyun about your relationship, and the truth about it. To most people you knew, the fact that your relationship with Sehun was slowly coming to an end was a secret. It wasn’t like you were embarrassed about it, though having your boyfriend cheating on you wasn’t exactly a compliment. 

The thing was that you didn’t have that same adrenaline rush anymore when you talked about him. There were no sweaty palms, no butterflies, no feeling that you weren’t able to eat while thinking about him. You knew that he was seeing someone else, in fact, that he was seeing one of your best friends. He hadn’t admitted it yet, not that you had really asked or confronted him about it. You weren’t sure how to feel about it, if you had to feel hurt or betrayed because you knew there was something going on between them and none of them had told you. But you couldn’t bring yourself to really feel anything else than a certain feeling of emptiness, and somehow relief as well. It was as if it got you another reason why you shouldn’t be continuing this. And that was the reason why you had taken a big decision. “I broke up with him, last night.” You said, and you saw how his eyes widened because of that information. You’d told him you’d do it hundreds of times before, but you’d never had to courage to do so. Not that you weren’t afraid to hurt anyone’s feelings, because you weren’t. He wouldn’t be heartbroken because of your separation, and neither were you. The thing was, secretly, you were scared of being alone. If you hadn’t met Baekhyun then you were sure you wouldn’t have put this step. Sehun had been in your life for years, he’d been the one you told everything, the one who knew you better than you knew yourself. 

Distancing yourself from someone who played such a big role in your life for so long wasn’t easy. Baekhyun gazed around the shop, looking down on the costumers in the room before lowering his face to yours. “Give me a second.” He said before walking off and leaving you alone at your table. During lucky times the two of you would be able to spend some quality time together. But he worked here, and when there were clients he had to get their orders and prepare their drinks. During those times you’d have to miss his company, no matter how much you longed for it. You were afraid that today was one of those where you’d have to spend some time by yourself. Though, you could use someone to talk to, now that you had finally decided to call it quits with your boyfriend. He was the one who had given you the courage to do this. Leaning your elbows down on the table top you closed your eyes and rested your face inside your hands. He’d probably moved his things out of the apartment now, you’d asked him to find a place of his own. You didn’t ask him where he was going, some part of you was afraid that he had decided to move in with your friend. How would you feel? Any other friend would probably feel betrayed. “So, tell me.” The sudden voice startled you and you flinched while leaning back and staring at the handsome face in front of you. A smile was plastered across his face, his attention devoted to you. Slowly you looked around the shop, seeing that there were still several people waiting for their coffee’s. 

He must have noticed your questioning look because he quickly explained himself. “We hired a new guy, I asked him to take over my shift.” Surprised you looked around, and indeed, you spotted a waiter you’d never seen before behind the bar, smiling friendly at the costumers. He seemed nice, but he could impossibly be as nice as the boy sitting in front of you at the moment. “So, you called things quite? How did he react?” He asked, and you heaved a deep sigh as you thought back about the conversation you’d had with your ex boyfriend last night. “He reacted the way I thought he would react, like he understood, as if he’d seen it coming all along. It was as if we’d both been waiting for this moment, but neither of us were brave enough to actually tie the knot.” You said, curling your fingers around your cup. Unlike the first time you’d come here, when the rain had been pouring down, the weather was soft and warm. It was a wonderful spring day, the sun was trying to break through the clouds and people were walking outside in t-shirts. It was the perfect time of the year
