“Please tell me you’ haven’t come here to ruin my day with any bad news?” Baekhyun said when you walked into the room, holding your clipboard in between your hands, rushing inside. You were in such a hurry that you almost forgot to knock as you walked through the door, but you were just in time to remember that you were supposed to be polite. You shot him a bright smile before walking over towards his bedside and looking down on the papers which were at his foot end, just checking if you didn’t see anything urgent. “No, I’m just checking on you.” You explained, and he hummed playfully, looking at you from his side of the bed. Today he was sitting up, which pleased you, for the past few days he had done nothing else than sleeping and lying in bed. You had been really worried about him, and you were glad that he seemed to be doing better. For a moment you had actually thought that you would loose him, that his last moment had come, but as you saw him today it seemed like his day hadn’t come just yet. “It’s seems like you’re busy though.” He muttered and you felt him watch you as you wrote something down on your papers, just seeing the progress he had made over the past week. The color of your coat fitted perfectly fine with the color of the walls, and the stethoscope around your neck threatened to fall off. Your hair was a mess, several pieces hanging out of your ponytail and you could tell that you weren’t smelling very amazingly, but hey, that was a part of the job. 

“Tell me something about it, it’s almost as if everyone decided to get ill at the same day.” You chuckled, slowly walking over to him and grabbing the stethoscope from around your neck, placing the ends into your ears. Baekhyun immediately knew what to do as he leant forward so that you could reach is back. He shivered as the cold material touched his skin, and then breathed in sharply, before exhaling again. You listened to his lungs for a few times, before you hummed, telling him that you were done. Once again you made some notes and he gave you a curious look, wondering how he had been doing. “You’re looking a lot better than yesterday. How are you feeling?” For a moment your question seemed to linger around in the room, as if he needed some time to think of that. Baekhyun had been a one of your patients for a while now, slipping in and out of the hospital once in a while. Each time you would run into him in this huge building where you worked you would feel a heavy sting inside of your heart, hating it to see him here. Sometimes he would stay away for weeks, sometimes he would already be back after a few days. He suffered from an autoimmune disease, where his own body was slowly attacking itself, damaging it. You had tried a few types of medication before, but that didn’t make his life much easier. Even though it made the symptoms of the disease weaken, there would be other things that came instead. One time he had come in because of a pneumonia, it had been really bad and honestly you had thought that you had lost him back then. But miraculously he had survived, had knocked himself through it like he had always done. 

Since you had known him for such a long time you had become very attached to him, and he seemed to be feeling the same. He knew that he would never become better again and he knew that he would be ill for the rest of his life, but he had seemed to have accepted that. His life would never be easy, full of challenges and difficulties and it would be a very hard fight. But he was a very strong guy, very determined to get out of here and to get back to the live he knew. “I’m alright, I guess.” You looked at him as he spoke, noticing the slightly red blush that had formed onto his cheeks, the way his eyes seemed to be more alive, how they had a small spark inside of them. He really did look better and you were sure that he was going to be fine, after a few more day he would be out here and you wished that it would take him a while before he would come back again. “You look like you’re busy, does that mean we’re not going for a walk today?” He asked, looking at you with those sweet dark brown oceans and you were sure that you could get lost inside of them. It was a ritual you had started when he had first gotten in here and it had never stopped ever since. He liked being outside, just breathing in the fresh air and sitting on a bench, staring at the people as they walked in and out of the hospital. After being locked up inside of his room for days he really enjoyed being outside, and you were glad that you could do that for him. Baekhyun was around your age, which made it easy for you to connect with him. It inspired you, the way he lived his life and the way he looked at things. He was always so positive and his strength was something you were jealous about. 

“Are you kidding? I’ve been working my off all noon to make sure I can take you out, so you better get your lazy out of bed.” You said and you enjoyed the way his melodic laugh filled the room, how it seemed to light up instantly. Was it bad to say that you liked him, since you were his doctor and he was your patient? You had known him for so long and he had been a part of your life for months now, was it unfair to say that you had started to have feelings for him?
