“If you hear this, could you please call me back? I’m starting to get a little bit worried over here. Just… Call me okay?” You hung up the phone after your umpteenth voicemail you had left for him. He wasn’t answering his phone, wasn’t replying to your texts and most importantly, he wasn’t here. He had never missed out on a date before, he always showed up and he was never late. This wasn’t like him, he would never just blow you off and not let you know why he couldn’t make it. The least he would do was call, so yes, you were slightly worried about him. Or something had happened to him or something had happened to his phone? You had no idea what was going on but you had to know. With a big sigh you spun around and started at the big entrance of the cinema, where you had agreed to meet each other. This date had been planned for weeks, and he had still reminded you of it yesterday evening, there was no way he would have forgotten about it. There was no way you’d still be able to make it in time for the movie to start, even if he would show up. The strange thing was that you weren’t angry because he wasn’t here or because he hadn’t shown up, you were angry because he wasn’t replying your calls, because he made you feel so worried. What if something had happened to him and you had just been standing here all the time, while you should have been with him?

What should you do, go home and wait for him there or stay here and assume that he was going to come anyway? You stared down on your watch before hugging your coat a little closer around your body. It was freezing cold outside and even the amount of clothes you were wearing wasn’t enough to keep you warm. Not to forget that it was late and dark, and that the people who were walking around here were starting to scare you. You had been waiting here for forty five minutes, it was clear that he was no longer going to show. With a feeling of disappointment hovering over you, you turned your back to the cinema and started to walk back towards the parking lot. It was just sad, you had really been looking forward towards this evening. It had been a while since the two of you had been able to go out since you had always been busy, but tonight had been the perfect opportunity for you two to spend some time together. You tried to avoid the looks of the people that were passing you as you made your way back towards your car. It were those kind of people who just wanted to have fun on a Friday night and who were planning to keep on drinking until someone else would have to drag them home. When your car appeared into your sight your heart made a little jump at the thought of safeties and warmth that the image brought up inside of you. It was unbelievable how a single object could make you feel those kind of things. You quickly unlocked it and jumped inside before pressing the button again and making sure that the doors were firmly closed again so that no one else could get in. The first thing you did was turn on the engine and starting up the heating, hoping that your frozen and painful fingers could come back to life.
