Nervous was an understatement, to explain how you were feeling right now. You had been sitting here for half an hour, and now you regretted coming here this early. He had texted you the hour of his arrival last night, but you had been so impatient that you had decided to come sooner so that you’d be sure you would arrive here on time. The result was though, that you were only getting more stressed by sitting here on one of those plastic shares, staring at the clock and the flights that were arriving and departing. But finally the time that he’d show up was getting closer, which caused your heart to beat irregularly inside of your chest. You had woken up when it had still been dark, so that you would have had enough time to get everything done before he would arrive. The apartment hadn’t been this clean in months, and you had spent hours on your outfit and make up. It wasn’t the first time you saw him, the two of you had met in Korea when you had been living there for your education. Actually it had all gone real fast and before you had known it you had fallen in love with him and the two of you had started a relationship. When it had been time for you to go back home, you had been devastated. You had had an amazing time in Korea, had met amazing people and most importantly, you had met Baekhyun. But you had both known what you had been up to, and that you hadn’t been able to stay. You had no idea what to expect when he told you that you would make this work, that you would figure this all out. Of course you had been worried, you had had relationships before, but never long distance one.


It wasn’t easy that you never got to see him in person. The two of you called often, or face timed, but there was never the opportunity to touch him or to hug him. You both lived your own lives, in your own worlds and you wondered how long you were still going to be able to do this. Though, just when you had started to think that maybe it was better to put an end behind all of this and to move on from each other, he had called you with some great news. Since he had a few weeks off from work he had bought a plane ticket and now he was coming over. Honestly a few weeks was more than you ever would have asked for and the thought that he would be with you for so long was unbelievable. For months you had been satisfied hearing his voice over the phone, but now that you knew he was going to hear it live any minute, you were nervous as hell. Just at that moment the flight disappeared on the board and you knew it had arrived. He was here. Without any doubt you jumped off of your chair and almost tripped over your own feet. Quickly you looked around to see if anyone had noticed your embarrassing move before you swung your hair over your shoulder and began to walk towards the gates. What if he wouldn’t like the weather here? What if something would happen at home and he’d have to return? What if everything had changed while you hadn’t seen each other and the connection wouldn’t be the same anymore? There was always a chance that things would change? You took a deep breath while settling yourself between the other people who were waiting for their traveling family members or friends.


Some of them were holding up name tags or large bouquets of flowers, while you had come completely empty handed. You hadn’t thought it was necessary for you to bring him anything. After arriving somewhere after such a long journey you could only imagine that he spud be exhausted once he’d get here. You didn’t want to blow this up even more. The only thing you wanted was for him to see that you had been waiting for him and that he was more than welcome here, and of course, that you had missed him. A nervous and tensed sphere hung around in this space, as if everyone was about to burst as soon as their beloved person would walk through those glass doors. When the first man came in you held your breath, but exhaled deeply when you saw it wasn’t the person you had been waiting for. The older guy with grey hair and a dark blue shirt walked over towards a woman who was standing a few feet away from you, with her son in her arms. They both looked thrilled about the arriving of the missing family member, while the younger boy just cried out of exhaustion. A young girl came next and she stared ahead of herself in a bored manner as she walked over to the people you assumed were her parents. They accepted her with open arms, as her father took her suitcase with her. The girl shot one longing look over her shoulder back into the direction she had just come from, as if she couldn’t wait for the time she’d be able to leave again. Who knew, maybe she had met someone and she had had to leave him behind to come back home? If that was the case then you knew exactly how she was feeling.


A few more people passed you by, but none of them looked familiar. More and more of the arrivals began to leave with their family and at a certain point it was between you, an old lady and a taxi driver. Where was he? You were sure that if something had happened and if he hadn’t been able to catch his flight at home that he would have at least texted you.
