“Are you sure you feel good enough to go home? Maybe you should stay a few more days.” You started, but you could already see his answer written all over his face. He wasn’t going to give into you, no matter how hard you would plead, and who were you to blame him. The doctor had told him to stay for two more days before he had suddenly caught an infection. The antibiotic cure had taken another week, and his physician had wanted to keep him a few more days longer for observation. Soon, that was what they had promised him before, but by now he had already been here for two weeks. He was tired of being here and now that he was feeling better and finally allowed to go home he didn’t want to have you telling him that maybe it was better if he stayed. But you couldn’t help but be worried about him, he had been really sick and you had been terrified of loosing him. The only thing you wanted was that he was one hundred percent better before he went home so that he didn’t need to come back soon. “You’re not my doctor, so I’m going to ignore what you just said, like completely ignore it.” He warned you, hanging the hospital gown on a chair and leaving it there. You couldn’t lie, the thought that he was finally getting out of here and you no longer had to camp inside of this hospital room anymore thrilled you. For a moment it had seemed as if he would never go home again, so you were relieved that they were discharging him. But there was something telling you that you shouldn’t move too fast, he was too precious to be overlooked.

“Fine, have it your way.” You mocked, sticking out your tongue at him before walking towards the bed and grabbing one of his bags. You couldn’t help that you were a little bit scared. You were a doctor and a good one, but the fact that you couldn’t lay your finger on Baekhyun’s situation made you doubt yourself. Before you had always known what to do, but now he wasn’t your patient anymore, you didn’t look into his files or his other documents which left you unknowing. It was annoying to say the least, but you were adjusting yourself. As if he could tell that it was bothering you he stepped closer to you, lifting up his hand so that he could swing your hair behind your shoulder. “I’m fine! I’m feeling much better than I did last week, I promise.” When you looked him in the eye just to make up if you should believe him or not you then noticed that he also looked much better. He looked healthy, as if there was nothing wrong with him, but the truth was that there was a disease spreading inside of him and that he would never become healthy again. He would always be ill and that would never change. He seemed to be able to handle this much better than you did, but he had also had a lot of time to learn it. You sighed, giving into him anyway. The thought of taking him home with you sounded much more appealing then leaving him here. The two of you had agreed that he would move in with you so that he wouldn’t be alone. Even though you hadn’t been together for that long it had seemed like the right decision to make. You had known each other for much longer though, you were sure that it would all be alright.

He needed someone with him who could take care of him, besides, who wanted to be alone right now? You didn’t mind sharing your house with him, everything would be better if he would be with you. You watched him as he put a card on his nightstand, leaving it there for whoever would come in first. He had always done that, leaving thank you notes for the people who took care of him during the time he had been in the hospital, you had received many of those notes yourself. He was always so kind towards everyone, you really admired that. “It’s okay, I believe you.” You eventually said and he looked at you in confusion, as if he had already forgotten what the two of you had been talking about. You couldn’t help it that you were so slow to react to what he said, you were just completely lost in your own thoughts. The only thing you wanted was to see him healthy and to never need to visit him here again. Why did the world have to be so cruel? It was hard for you, you earned your money by treating people like him, people like him made that you were able to buy your food. For a moment it made you feel horrible. His eyes were scanning your face, as if he was trying to figure out what was going on inside of your head but just by the look on you face he could see that you were upset about something. “Hey, what’s wrong?” It was unbelievable how fast he could change from someone who could joke and fool around anything to someone who wanted to have a serious conversation with someone, it almost made you laugh. You didn’t really know what to do when he came over to you, standing right in front of you so that you had to lift your head in order to look at him, so you decided that you’d just stay where you were and wait for him to do something.

His eyes gazed into yours and for a moment it seemed as if you were staring right into his soul, as if he was inviting you to look inside. It seemed as if he had opened a lock and had opened a room only for you to see, it took your breath away. There were so many emotions inside of his eyes, but you could see that he was tired. How long had he been fighting against this illness, how long had he been coming to and going out of a hospital just to return again? He was exhausted of all the battles he had had to fight and all the times he had thought that it was over. But he wanted to live, he didn’t want to die. It was just too much, you couldn’t look him in the eye anymore. Your emotions seemed to be so overwhelming that you felt that you just had to run away from them, but you couldn’t. Without saying anything you threw your arms around his neck, nuzzling yourself against him. Even if he was surprised about your sudden attack he didn’t say anything about it, he just sighed before his arms s around your waist, holding you close to him. “I don’t want you to die.” You muffled, your words muted by the fabric of his shirt at his shoulder. His grip around you seemed to tighten, or maybe that was just your imagination. “No, me too.” It usually didn’t make you feel like this, you didn’t know how you had to describe all the thoughts that were rushing through your head. You had seen people die before so many times, you were a doctor, it was a part of your job. Maybe it was cruel to say but you had never had a really hard time with it, it was just a part o
