“Trauma! In coming! ____________, doctor Byun trauma room six!” The voice of the nurse resounded through the crowded halls as you held in the middle of your tracks, which almost caused you to bump into an old man who was standing in front of you. An apology tumbled over your lips as you clang your tablet close to your chest, the last thing you wanted to do was drop it in the middle of your actions. It was a busy day, you had been running around for hours now, none stop, going from one patient towards another. You’ve seen the ones with the serious issues, who had a true reason to be here and who made your internship totally worth it and who made that you got some real experience. But then there were also the ones who came in with a small cold or with a finger cut who made you want to kick them back out because you had more important things to do. But these kind of things were a part of the job, you’d just have to get used to it. Instantly your heart rate shot up as you turned back around and hobbled all the way over to trauma room six, wondering which adventure was waiting there for you. You had been very sure about the very beginning, in what you wanted to be when you grew up. The education was horrible and it seemed to take forever, six long years before you would finally get your degree. You had started your fourth year last September and you knew that you were lucky that you had a good set of brains inside of your head. It was the only reason why you were able to survive this whole thing, everything your residents put you through, the seniors. It were long and tiring days, sometimes you spend more hours in the hospital than in your bed, but it would be worth it in the end.

For the past two months you had been walking through these halls and you honestly had become quite close to the other people who were working here. The nurses were sweet and supportive but they surely knew how to keep you busy. The doctors trusted you now that they knew what you were able to do and they helped you wherever they could. They had taught you so many things during such a short amount of time that it almost seemed impossible. But you still had two more years to go before you would actually be a doctor, for now you were just a student and you had to listen to the commands. “____________, place a central line. I need 1mg of epi, right now.” Baekhyun threw the words at you as soon as you shoved the door of the room open, revealing a few ambulance drivers who were busy taking away the stretcher from under a man. His clothes were ripped, and the deep red color of blood was visible on his chest and arms. The lines and signals on the monitor told you that his vitals were dropping in a very fast pace, his blood pressure was lowering because of his blood loss, his pulse rising because his heart was trying to get the small amount of liquid that was still left in his body to reach all his important organs. It was obvious that this was a serious situation, whatever had happened to this guy had caused him to get into a shock, you didn’t need to touch him in order to know that his skin would be cold as ice. You told yourself to keep your head with your work as you walked into the room, threw your tablet to the side and grabbed a set of gloves. There was no way you were going to put yourself into danger by touching his blood, maybe he had some sort of disease or something.

Placing a central line was something you had been having a hard time with when you had first arrived at this hospital. The only thing you had ever practiced on and that came close to a living human being was a dead body, and an orange. The first time you had ever done this your hands had been shaking so hard that you hadn’t even been able to get it in anywhere near to right spot. Your resident had pulled the thing out of your hands and had done it himself when you had let him down. You had been so disappointed and freaked out ever since, but now you had that all under control and you were a master in this. Quickly you prepared the medicine before connecting it to the line and pushing it in, hoping that this would be enough. From the moment that a patient needed to get epi, you knew the ending was near. “Code blue, room 6.” The words got spoken out by a robotic voice while a blue light covered all the computer screens and tablets inside of the hall. Nurses and doctors rushed inside of the room, offering their help as you told yourself to stay calm and rushed forward until you were sitting on the edge of the bed, your knees on top of the mattress. Your braid was sticking against the side of your neck as you placed your hands in the middle of his chest and harshly pushed down. If it had been quiet inside of the room you were sure you would have been able to hear a few of his ribs breaking and if he would get through this then he would definitely feel it for the next few months. But then at least, he would be alive. Your breath left your lips in soft pants as you tried to keep your back straight, knowing you would regret it tomorrow if you wouldn’t think of it now. You tried to listen to everything that got said around you, to all the people yelling in the background, but it was so noisy that you could barely focus on anything else than the man underneath you. His skin was so pale that he looked like he was dead, as if every sparkle of like that had still been inside of him when he had gotten in had flown away.

A pair of nurses rushed in the crash car and you continued to do whatever you could with all the strength inside of you until someone else told you otherwise. “Charged, everybody out of the way.” Baekhyun rumbled over the noise and you were quick to loosen your hand and make sure you had no connection with the body at all as you waited patiently at the side. The beds were made from special material, curing you not to feel anything of the electrical impulses as the shock traveled through the man’s body. All his muscles contracted, and your eyes hot locked on the screen showing you his vitals, which were still absent. “Nothing, give me another milligram of epi. Charge again, everybody clear.” The second shock came and went as quickly as the first and you could feel your heart drop inside of your stomach when nothing changed. You looked down onto the face of the young man on the table before a loud scream caused all of you to jerk your heads up. A young woman was beating on the glass doors, her fists causing vibrations to go through the entire room by the strength she was using. Tears were running down her face
