"It's going to be fine." He assured you, squeezing your hand softly and for a second it seemed to work, but the effect was lost soon after that. It wasn't really helping that you were more nervous about this entire situation than he was. Actually, he was the one who was in charge of having to calm you down instead of the other way around. And then it wasn't even you who was on her way to meet someone. Telling your mother that you had a boyfriend hadn't been easy. Though at first she had been excited that you finally had something else to focus on that your career, her mood had changed like the wind when you had mentioned that he was a colleague and that he was a doctor. She had been furious, saying she didn't want to have anything to do with your relationship and it was already doomed before it had gotten started. That your mom hated your job and everything that had to do with it wasn't a secret anymore, you had know it for years. 

It was going a bit better now that you weren't working at the hospital anymore and you were going back to school. At least now you were capable of going home during the weekends and to visit your family a little more often. During your internship you had barely had any time to see anyone apart from the people you worked with. That was what had caused you to get this close to Baekhyun in the first place. Even though he had been your resident and you had been his student, the two of you had been drawn towards each other. He was one of those seniors you admired and wished you could turn into when you graduated and he had always been there to help you during hard days. Eventually the two of you had put your teacher student relationship aside as soon as you had stopped working at the hospital and you had officially started dating. 

The time you were able to spend with him was amazing. He was a great man who was very interested in your studies and who made up for your mother's leak of enthousiasm. When the two of you met up he would always as you how your school was going and if you needed any help. When there was a chapter you were having a hard time with he'd sit down with you during his breaks or when he came home from work so he could help you through it. And of course he was able to keep you updated about all your previous patients and about everything that happened in the hospital. In this way you had the chance to stay in touch with the colleagues you were able to get along with while you worked there. It was very strange to find out how well the two of you seemed to fit together. You had the same interests, the same dreams, the only difference was that he was slightly older and more experienced.

For so long you had thought that you would never find a boyfriend, because you were so busy with yourself. Now you realized that maybe you had just been looking in the wrong direction all along. "You warned me about everything that could happen tonight and I'll get through it. I know she won't like me because I'm a doctor, but that doesn't mean she hates me." Baekhyun said as he parked the car at the side of the road and shut down the engine so he could look at you. He looked so different without his uniform. When you had first seen him like this you had been astonished. You had already known that he looked extremely hot in his uniform, but in casual clothing he was even more handsome. His style was simple but boyish, which made every single girl in the area want to jump on top of him and devour him. Yet, he had picked you over then and now you were the one who could call him your man. You had tried to avoid this moment for as long as you could, but now both parties were willing to meet each other and there was no way left for you to stop this.

Baekhyun wanted to meet your mom so he could convince her that he was the right guy for you and that he loved you. Your mom wanted to meet your boyfriend to prove to you that he wasn't good for you and that you shoudl end this before you'd be in it too far. The thing that scared you the most was probably that they both had very different intentions about tonight. One was trying to make peace while the other was planning on ruining everything. Situations like that just couldn't turn out right. What if your mother would say something hurtful to him or he would realize this wasn't what he wanted and he would leave you? You knew how important it was for people to get approved by their partner's parents and you were sure that Baekhyun thought of it the same way. But the chance that your mom would ever like seeing the two of you together was extremely small. Could as well have brought a magnifying glass if you really wanted to find it.

"But what if she scares you away? Besides, I don't want you to feel bad because she's going to say hurtful things or because she's not going to accept you." You bit your bottom lip as you stared through the window, watching your house a little further ahead. The lights were all and you were sure that your mom was waiting for you to arrive, but you still had ten minutes left before you would be officially late. A finger curled around your chin and you didn't fight him as he turned your head towards him so you had to look at him. His soft expression caused your heart to melt, he was capable to give you those kinds of looks which made it impossible for you to worry about anything. "Nothing she says will be able to scare me away. I love you, it doesn't matter if she likes it or not." He muttered and you felt the corners of your lips curling up into a smile because of his sweet words. It was a very soothing thought that no matter what would happen today, he would still be there. 

"We should go, at least we'll make a good first impression by showing up on time." He unfastened his seatbelt and handed you the car keys so you could safely put them inside of your bag. He was wearing a beautiful button up shirt and suit trousers. He looked like a real businessman, everything about him screamed that he was an important person. And he was important, after all he was saving lives, there was nothing more important than that. You took a deep breath as your fingers curled around the handle of the door.
