It was weird to be here, during this hour of the day but still you had managed to make it. Exhaustion was taking over your system and honestly you just wanted to go home, crawl into a ball underneath the sheets and sleep all day, but you couldn’t. It was eight o’clock in the morning and you knew that visiting hours were far gone but you didn’t have any other choice than to come now. He was probably still asleep, or he knew that you would come and he would be waiting for you. Then you would scold him, telling him that he needed to rest and that he shouldn’t bother about the fact that you came by. At this moment it was his health that came on the first place, the only thing he had to think of. It didn’t take you that long to find the way towards his room, even though you barely visited this hospital it seemed to be just the same as the one you worked at. You didn’t easily get lost anymore in buildings like these, you felt too comfortable in between the white walls. But unlike other times you weren’t wearing your white coat, which made you feel a little bit out of place. People didn’t look at you with the same look they normally did, to them you weren’t a doctor right now, you were just a girl who came to visit someone. It was weird, how roles could change so quickly just by changing out of some clothes. You quietly counted the room number, searching for the one you remembered from the text message he had sent you. Every single door seemed one too much, why did there always have to be so many? 

This whole situation was still slightly painful to you. After all this was the first time that he was at the hospital and that he wasn’t your patient. The thought that you couldn’t control everything that happened to him and that you had to put your faith into someone else’s hands terrified you. Before you had known every single detail about him, from his temperature to all the medication he took, now you knew just as little as he did, and you only got the information they told you. But Baekhyun seemed happier now that he no longer had to call you his doctor, he seemed more free around you. It was true that things had changed ever since he had broken off his contract with you. When he had been discharged from the hospital he had immediately asked you out, not even hesitating or afraid that you would say no. It was almost as if he wanted to take every single chance that he still had to make the most out of his life. The fact that he didn’t think he could do that without having you by his side made butterflies explode inside of your stomach, even though you knew that was scientifically impossible. It was weird, going to the movies with him, feeling him holding your hands, hearing him make jokes about things that didn’t have anything to do with his disease. At first you had had a slightly hard time with it, to adjust yourself to the new situation, to see him as a person and not your patient. But he had given you the time you needed, had never complained, had never given up. Slowly your feelings for him had blossomed, noticing that you liked him even more while being his true self than while laying in your hospital bed in a hospital gown. 

Everything was different from how it had used to be, and you realized that you didn’t mind. You had never really believed in those kind of feelings that other people talked about, like love. Of course you had known that you could feel certain things and that you could like some people more than others, but you had never thought that you could have these kind of strong feelings for someone. Baekhyun had expanded your vision in so many ways, and you were grateful for that. If you told your friends about your new relationship with him they all told you that you were making a mistake. They thought you were the one who was going to end up heart broken, dating a man with a chronicle illness that could never be cured. The fact that he would die before you was as clear as could be, you didn’t need to lie about that to yourself. But that didn’t mean that you couldn’t spend the time he had left with him, enjoy his presence while he was still here. Wasn’t that was life was all about, grabbing the chances that came your way and make the most out of them? That was something you could see in him, a chance for you to finally be in love, to finally have your own movie scenes, and you weren’t going to let that pass. The thought that there were actually doctors walking around in these buildings, doing their tours and examining people made you feel strange. Normally you were one of them, but now you just had to sit back and watch them do their jobs. It wasn’t going to be easy not to get involved in this whole thing, but for Baekhyun you were willing to try. You ignored the sound of your sneakers peeping against the tiles as you stopped in front of the room you needed. 

A deep breath entered your lungs as you thought about what to expect. What he had told you over the phone hadn’t seemed that bad, but you knew that there was a chance he was keeping things from you. If he got into the hospital you always had to stand open for the fact that maybe this could be the last time you would see him, just the thought made your heart throb. You decided that it was better not to knock, after all you didn’t want to wake him if he would be asleep. Slowly you reached out for the door handle, pushing it down as quietly as you could before slipping through the small opening. It was dark inside of the room, the lights were off and you could see his form
