“Just be careful.” Baekhyun muttered from his spot on the couch, leaning his head back so that he could look at you who were standing behind him. The only thing you could do was smile at him, it was cute that he was always to concerned about you. The two of you had met a whole while ago, if you weren’t wrong then you thought that the two of you had been together for over two years now. Ever since you had met him you had stopped looking for another man because you were sure that he was the one for you. He was really sweet, a gentleman and he always wanted the best for you. It was something that you had always dreamt of ever since you had been a little girl, a guy who really loved you and really cared for you. You remembered how it had been when you had just met, how you had pushed him off and had wanted to get him out of your life again as fast as possible. At first you hadn’t thought that you deserved someone like him, but ever so slowly he had been able to talk you into it. You had opened up to him and had rolled into the thought of being his girlfriend. To be honest you couldn’t be any happier, he had made your life so much better and so much more fun ever since he had come along. The truth was that you had never had a very easy childhood, things hadn’t been easy for you. Your mom had died at a very young age and your father had had a very rough time dealing with it. He had become an alcoholic and had started to gamble. In just a few months he had waisted all the money your family had owned and had made life a living hell for you and your older brother. When he hadn’t been able to handle it anymore he had grabbed his things and had left you alone with your father, since you had been too young to leave or to understand. Honestly, thinking back of it now, you understood his decision, you would have done the same thing. But you had always felt as if he had not only saved himself, he had also deserted you, he had left you with your father all by yourself. 

He was a hard man, who had caused you to go through hell during the next few years of your life. At the age of eighteen you had finally fled away from the place you had called home, though it had never felt like it. A few months ago you had had a phone call from a psychiatric center, telling you that your father had been taken in and that he was there to rehab from all his issues. Your gut told you that he would never be the man again he had once been, before your mother had died, not that you still remembered the man he had used to be, you had been too small to notice any difference. Still, your heart longed for the change which you knew would never happen, and a rotten pain gnawed at the edges of your heart as you told the nurses that you rather wouldn’t visit him. The contact with your brother had minimized towards a few texts each month, sometimes only a few e-mails went back and front. But to your own surprise you were fine with it, because he belonged to a life you had lived which was now in the past. Since you were with Baekhyun you had learned how to live in the now and how to look at the future, he had shown you that life could be something to look forward to instead of feeling horrible that you still had to continue one more day. Each morning when you woke up you found yourself being happy, just because you could see his face again, could see him smile again, could kiss him again. When he had met you, you had been a shadow, living in the background and hoping that the torture which you had called life would end soon. But he had picked up all the pieces of your broken heart and had slowly glued them back together into something that felt like whole, and for you that was enough. Somehow that seemed all you were able to wish for, and to see that he was content with it as well pleased you even more. 

After all those terrible years you had been able to get out of there and to built a life for yourself. You had found a job, which of course wasn’t perfect but it was everything you needed. You had rented a small apartment so that you could live by yourself, happy you had finally been able to start something for your own. A couple months later you had met Baekhyun and even though you had still been a mess, he had accepted you just the way you were. Yet, things could never really stay peaceful for very long. After getting the call that your father had been accepted into rehab you had been informed that he needed a person who would take responsibility over him, because the hospital no longer saw him capable of making the right choices for himself. For the first time in years you had seen your brother again, and of course out of all the places to meet, it had had to be in court. One thing had been clear, your brother wanted nothing to do with your father, just as little as you did. Not only did the man have many problems to deal with and issues lurking behind ever corner, he also had many debts, which he would never be able to pay off. The thought of letting the man who had once ruined your life come back in through a side door made you feel sick and miserable. The memories of your past felt like fresh burn wounds on your skin, those who would never heal again would always itch. The rage between you and your brother had come to the surface in a way you had never assumed to be possible. At
