The fire place was burning bright, lighting up the entire room and warming up the house. Above, there were hanging two stockings, waiting to be filled. There was a big Christmas tree standing in the corner of the living room, decorated with hundreds of balls and and other kinds of things. Underneath the floor was filled with presents, and you couldn’t help but wonder which one belonged to you. You stared at the small blue package, the one you had bought for him. You knew that the content would confuse him and you couldn’t wait to see the look on his face. A lovely smell was coming from the kitchen, where you had kept yourself occupied for the last few hours. The table was et for two, lit with candles, decorated with a lovely flower in the middle. Even though it would just be the two of you tonight, you still wanted it to look perfect. This wasn’t the first Christmas the two of you had spend together, but that didn’t mean that it wasn’t a special one. It wasn’t the first time you would celebrate the holiday while being called Miss Byun. The first time as a married couple that you’d be together on this wonderful time of the year. There wasn’t a thing you didn’t love about this holiday, everything was special and every detail was important. The only thing you were still missing was the snow outside, but sadly enough it wasn’t cold enough for the rain to freeze into little flakes. 

Baekhyun was still at work and you had told him not to worry about anything, that you would take care of it all. You loved to prepare for these kind of things, it brought up some kind of sphere that you just adored. Everything just so much more cosy, so intimate and snug, you which that it could be like this the whole year through. But then you would probably be broke, because besides all of that Christmas was also a very expensive holiday. Though you hadn’t spend much money on your present this year, though it would probably get much more expensive as the years passed. You looked down on yourself and didn’t think you still had to change anything about your look. Normally you always kept it casual, but tonight you had wanted to do something special, after all it was only Christmas evening once a year. You are wearing a classic dress that made all your features come out on the right places. Your high heels were pitch black and made you a little taler which made it easier for you to reach the top shelf in the kitchen. Still you had kept your make up quite light and simple because you hadn’t wanted to overdo it. Honestly, you thought you looked good and you were content about how things had turned out. With a fast beating heart you lifted your eyes to look up at the clock, seeing that the time that Baekhyun would arrive was getting closer. 

It was making you feel so excited, the thought that he was probably already on his way over here and that it wouldn’t take much longer before you could be together. Was it strange that you were so  into this while the two of you had celebrated Christmas together before? Though it was still special that this was the first time you’d be together as a married couple. There were many special things about this Christmas, and you could feel the butterflies flying around in your belly as you stared once again at the present you had for him. You almost couldn’t wait to give it to him, you just wanted to see the look on his face, you wanted to know what his reaction would be. In a happy pass you walked over to the kitchen and pulled open the fridge, ignoring the feeling of the cold air that was creeping onto your skin. You reached out for the bottle of whine that you had put in there a few hours ago since you had wanted to be sure that it would be cold enough when it had to be served. Luckily for you, Baekhyun and you had the same taste in these kind of things. Right at that moment you could hear the lock of the door open, and a set of keys jiggle, which could only mean one thing, your husband was home. With a big smile on your face you grabbed the bottle of whine and skipped over towards the table, placing it down in the middle. 

As soon as his face came from around the corner of the hallway you could no longer hold back your excitement and you waved your hand at him to welcome him home. “Hi there.” You giggled, content to see that there was a huge smile covering his face as well. Baekhyun was almost as much in love with Christmas as you were, which almost wasn’t possible because you just enjoyed this holiday too much. He put down his bag a little end away before he walked over to you, opening his arms as he neared you so that he could give you a hug. You didn’t dislike that gesture as you met him halfway and nuzzled yourself against his chest, taking in his sent. He smelled like sweat and lemon, the way he always did when he came home from practice, very manlike. “You’ve overdone yourself again, this gets better and better every year.” He said inside of your hair and you felt a little bit proud about his words. Yes, you had had a lot of work preparing all if this and cooking all the food and decorating the place, but in the end it had all been worth it. The result had been absolutely amazing, and you wouldn’t want to change it for anything less. “Let’s just hope that the presents are just as good.” You leaned back your head in order to look at him and saw that he had a big grin plastered all over his face. The gifts had always been his favorite part of the evening, along with the food. He would alway be so curious every year to know what he was getting for Christmas, and each year you refused to tell him. You had always been kind of nervous to give him your present, because you didn’t know if he was going to like it or not. But this year everything seemed even more thrilling, and actually you wanted to give him his gift straight away just so that he could see what was inside and you could see his reaction. But you weren’t going to ruin the evening, and so you would wait, and he would have to wait as well. 

“Wait and see.” You said as you broke free from his embrace, making him pout at you cutely. Just the look on his face was almost enough to make you run straight back to him and hug him again, but you had food to think of. While turning around you sent one look on the cubes wrapped in beautiful wrapping paper and felt your heart beating inside of your throat. The two of you made the deal that you’d be getting the food ready while he would take a shower and freshen up himself. Not that he didn’t look good after a day of work, but you didn’t really appreciate him sitting on the other side of the table wearing a sweater and some sweatpants while you were all dolled up. You walked into the kitchen and began to finish off everything you had started earlier while you were playing Christmas songs on your phone. Having the thought that you were the only person present in the kitchen you swayed your hips from left to right while stirring in the food, that was almost ready. A chuckle that came from behind you made you realize that nothing was less true and with a little jump you turned around. Baekhyun was staring at you as he stood in the middle of the doorway, leaning against the frame. He was clearly enjoying himself, since you could see the small twinkles inside of his eyes and the smile on his face. Actually you should be annoyed by him because he was making fun of you, but instead you just rolled your eyes and turned off the stove. “The food is ready.” You announced and demanded him to go and take the plates that you had placed on the table so that you could fill them…

… “This was great, I wish it was Christmas every day.” Baekhyun muttered as he took his napkin from his lap and wiped his mouth with it. It was clear to see that he had enjoyed his food, he had even asked for a second portion. But this only made you feel good, because that meant that he appreciated all the hard work you had put into this. You smiled before broach
