A/N: After having to miss my laptop for an entire week due restorations
I'm glad I'm finally able to post something again

The man hissed silently when you placed the cold metal of the stethoscope against his chest. You ignored the smooth and warm feeling of his skin against your fingertips as you listened to the sound of his breathing. It had been one hell of a day and you were longing to go home and get some rest. Luckily for you, you had the weekend off and you would enjoy your free time at home. It was something to look forward to, the thought that you could just lay on the couch with a glass of wine and a good movie. While working, a person realized that sometimes that was the only thing they needed. The small things were the ones you got pleasure from these days, it was something that your job had thought you. Lives were always at risk, no one ever knew how much time they still had left. For as far as you knew, you could be dead tomorrow and you wouldn’t even have the chance to do all the things you had wanted to do in life. Though, you had nothing to complain about. At this moment you were perfectly happy with the way your life was going, or at least, almost. Your internship was slowly coming to an end and in less than a week you’d be going back to school. You had passed, and you were so excited to start with the next part of your education. Of course you were sad you had to leave, but the hospital was happy with all the work you had done for them and had promised to think of you as soon as a spot would be available next year, when you graduated. 

The staff had always taken real good care of you. The nurses had always been kind and friendly to you, the doctors had treated you as a colleague instead of a student. Honestly, you couldn't have had more luck with your internship, it was much better than anything you had expected. Even though the past weeks had been rough and you had worked more hours than you had slept, you were still very content with your life. “Your vitals are stable. I’ll send a nurse over to take care of that wound of yours. After that you’ll be able to leave.” You told him with a kind smile and hung the stethoscope carefully around your neck again when you were done. The man seemed happy that he seemed okay and as soon as you were sure he didn’t need any more information you excused yourself and pushed open the door to get out of the room. You had been very tired today, the pressure and stress was slowly starting to weigh on you after all this time. You may really love this job, but actually you were quite happy that your internship was almost over. Now that you had been here this long and the seniors knew what you were capable of, they gave you more responsibility. You were really honored they trusted you this much, but it didn’t exactly make things easier for you. The sound of your phone vibrating in your pocket caused you to jump and you almost dropped your tablet which was safely tugged underneath your arm. 

While pulling your phone out of your jeans your eyes focused on the man who was making his was towards you through the sea of parents who were waiting for someone to help them out. He had a big smile on his face as his eyes met yours, though a frown appeared between in eyebrows as he studied you. “This is _____________, how can I help you?” You asked politely as you pressed you phone against your ear. Recently you had to change your introduction, before you had always informally picked up your calls. But now you found more patients calling you, which caused that you couldn’t just say anything you liked anymore. “Honey, where are you? The party started half an hour ago.” The sound of your mom’s voice confused you so badly that you stopped in the middle of your tracks. For one second you had no idea what she was talking about. But then your eyes widened and you groaned, realizing that you had forgotten something. “God mom, I’m so sorry. I completely forgot.” You started and you could already hear her sigh on the other side. This wasn’t the first time this had happened. Over the past few weeks you had occasionally forgotten about arrangements you had made with people. Last week you had completely forgotten that you had asked one of your friends to go to the movies, which had caused her to stand there waiting for you for at least half an hour before she had figured out you weren’t going to show. The problem was that you had so many things you had to think of and worry about, you barely had time for anything else. Having to think about all your patients issues caused that you didn’t have time to think of your own. 

Baekhyun stopped in front you and patiently waited for you to be done with your phone call before he interrupted you, but you could tell he had something important to tell you. Private conversations weren’t forbidden at work, but they also weren’t extremely loved. As an intern you could have gotten into trouble for this, but since doctor Byun and you got along quite well, he didn’t say anything about it. You knew you were extremely lucky with him as your resident, and not just because you had a huge crush on you. He was always there to help you, to explain things to you and to give you advice. The two of you had gone out before to have some drinks, but it hadn’t happened very often. After all, a resident wasn’t allowed to date one of his students.
