the exhaustion was crawling over you and you felt as if you could fall asleep right where you standing. But you couldn’t stop right now, you had to get home and you just hoped that your boyfriend was still up and wouldn’t be angry at you. That night your colleague had asked you to take over her shift because her daughter had turned sick. Without thinking and because you had wanted to be helpful and had wanted to show your good heart, but had forgotten one really special and important thing. Which was that you had forgotten your date with Baekhyun for tonight. It had been planner weeks ago, because the both of you had busy schedules. You worked night shifts and he as always gone during the day which made it hard for you to see each other. So you had both been really happy when you had been able to make up this arrangement and now you had messed it up. 

But you had been so tired today that it had totally slipped your mind and when you had finally been remembered about it, after seeing all the missing calls on your phone from him, and you had rushed home. The last time you had eaten was this morning and your stomach was feeling numb, you already didn’t feel anymore that you were hungry. Your head felt light and you knew you needed some sleep, after double shifts you always felt as if you had been gone from home for ages. But this time you couldn’t get your legs to move fast enough towards their destination. You couldn’t believe you had forgotten, you had been so stupid. Normally he was always the one to leave you hanging on dates like these and then you’d always get annoyed, but now you had been the one who had let him down and you felt really guilty. You had longed for this night with him as well and now you had thrown in all away, for your work. 

When you finally reached your apartment you were grateful that you had finally arrived. Your legs were burning from your jog and your feet were feeling as if they were made of stone, making it hard for you to take a step forward. It had been a very long time you had worked this hard and this long, without shifts or breaks and even though you had told yourself you wouldn’t do it again, you’d always help out a colleague in need. You searched through your bag to look for your key and when you finally found it you cursed when you dropped it on the floor. Blindly, you crouched down and laid your hands flat on the ground, slipping them over it to look for your damn keys. You were eager to open the door and apologize to your boyfriend who had probably been waiting for you for a long time now. Hopefully he understood and he’d let you get away with it for this time, it wasn’t like he had never done it before so he didn’t have the right to be pissed at you. 

Before you were able to find your keys the door opened in front of you and the light coming from inside of your apartment surrounded you, making you squeeze your eyes together. There he was, standing in the doorway with his lips pressed together into a thin line and a stern expression on his face. You hadn’t expected him to be happy because you had forgotten about your date but honestly you also had no idea what to expect from him. Without saying anything you scooped your keys off of the floor and got back onto your legs, feeling them shaking underneath you as they were barely able to keep up your weight. When you looked back at him and shot him a smile you were quickly to notice that he didn’t smile back at you and that his expression was dark and upset. It was clear that he wasn’t pleased with the fact that you hadn’t showed up tonight and you threw him a apologizing look. Instead of saying anything he turned around and walked back inside, leaving the door open for you.
