“I don’t understand why you’re making such a big drama about it? I just want to have some fun, it’s not a big deal at all.” You said as you slipped on your new pair of heels and tried to get used to your new length. At this point you were almost as big as he was as you stood in front of him and you could clearly see the annoyed look inside of his eyes. The only thing that was left for you to do is to roll your eyes at him, letting him know exactly what you were thinking about his behavior. Instead of saying anything he showed you a very displeased expression while pressing his lips together into a thin line. Great, now he had lost his tongue. You should have known that he wouldn’t be happy but you hadn’t expected this kind of a reaction. “Baekhyun-ah, you’re my best friend! You should be happy for me because I’m finally stepping back out there and making myself ready to date again.” You said as you looked at yourself in the mirror and suddenly didn’t feel very confident about your dress anymore. Maybe it was too much for a first date? But since you weren’t in the mood to get changed again this would have to do and you checked your make up one last time in the mirror before you figured you were ready to go. 

Baekhyun was still standing behind you, he hadn’t moved an inch from his spot. He looked really cranky, but you didn’t think he had any right to react like this. “It’s a blind date! Who knows what kind of a loser that guy is you’re setting yourself up with! I think this is a really bad idea…” He muttered and his eyes pierced into yours as he tried to let you know how he was feeling only by using his eyes. You crossed your arms over your chest and stared back at him, a frown on your forehead. This was something you had been thinking about for a very long time, but you didn’t doubt your decision. This was your moment to have some fun again and to get to know some new people. “My friend would never let me go out with a bad guy Baekhyun, you know that too.” You said as you walked over towards your bed and while doing that you made sure to lift your head and push back your shoulders. You were tired of his childish behavior and you just wanted him to be happy for you, was that so much to ask? “I don’t want you to get hurt again. I don’t want to come home to you and having to pick up all the small pieces someone broke your heart into __________-ah, I just can’t.” 

His words made you freeze for a moment but then you quickly shook off the feelings they gave you before grabbing your purse and looking inside of it to see if everything was still inside. One and a half year ago your ex boyfriend had broken up with you. He had been your everything, the air you had been breathing, the thing that made the world keep on turning. But then he had broken up with you out of nowhere, without giving you an explanation or anything. You had been devastated and you had been heartbroken. Back then it had been Baekhyun, your best friend, who had been there to catch you up and to take care of you. He had been there during the moment you had needed him most and you loved him for that. Maybe a little bit too much. After you had finally been able to forget your ex you had made the most stupid mistake by falling for your best friend. But during that time he had been so nice and sweet to you and he had done everything in his power to make you feel wanted and loved. Back then he had almost treated you as if you had been his girlfriend instead of his friend. But you knew that this couldn’t work. Baekhyun didn’t have any feelings for you in that kind of way and you didn’t want to destroy your friendship by confessing to him. 

“Well, you no longer have to worry about that because I’m not planning on throwing myself into this right away. I said I’m open for dating, not for a relationship.” You said as you checked your phone one last time before walking out of the door and leaving him in your bedroom, figuring he probably knew the way out himself. It would only take half an hour before your date would be here, you had agreed to meet up at your place so that he could pick you up here and then you would go to a restaurant and have a nice dinner. It wasn’t a very big deal, he was just a friend of a friend, it wasn’t anything huge. It would only be a drink or two and something to eat, a nice chat and then you would go home again. Of course you hoped that you’d meet someone who was open to get to know you a little bit better and someone who could make you forget the horrible love life you had been through before. “I still think you shouldn’t go.” His voice was coming from behind you and you knew that he had followed you out of the bedroom and into the living room. Just like usually he wasn’t letting you win just like that, he wasn’t giving up. You turned around to face him and saw that he still had that stubborn look on his face. If he would only see the slightest chance to keep you here and to stop this date from continuing the he would do it, you were sure of it. 

A big sigh left your lips as you walked over to him and placed your hands on top of his chest. With a soft smile you looked up at him and tried to give him the cutest and most innocent look you could bring up. “I’m going to be fine, you don’t have to keep on looking out for me forever. I’m going to have to find another guy someday right?” Because there wasn’t a single part of you that was planning to stay alone forever. You also wanted to find someone who would ask himyouto marry him and have kids with, eventually. But at this moment you just wanted someone who would be fun to be around and who would treat you well. And if Baekhyun couldn’t be that person for you than that meant you had to find someone else. For a short second you forgot why you had even asked him to step by tonight. Maybe it had been better if you hadn’t told him anything about this, but then again he was your best friend, he knew everything about you and what you did. But you had been stupid enough to think that he would approve this whole thing. But something told you that there was something else bothering him, that it was more than just the fact you were going out with a guy you had never met before. Baekhyun was glaring at you as he tried to find another argument to talk you out of this. But you were done with the way he was acting and you quickly held up your hand before he could say anything more. 

“I invited you here to companion me until he’s here because I’m too nervous to wait by myself. The only thing you have to do is leave five minutes before he gets here and that’s it. If you’re planning to keep complaining about this plan then you can better leave because I’m not in for that.” This time you made sure that there was a very frustrated look on your face, one that told him that you weren’t in the mood to argue. No matter what he would say, you were going to do this, you wanted to do this. So you walked over towards the couch and sat down, turning on the TV and trying to find something interesting to watch. You had to find something to kill the time so that you could get your mind off of things. The fact that your best friend was so much against this didn’t exactly make you feel more comfortable about this whole thing. It was indeed scary to meet up with a boy you had never seen before, not knowing who he was and what his intentions were. But you needed this, a fresh start with someone completely new. For a few minutes Baekhyun kept on standing on his previous spot, not moving at all as he watched you from afar. But eventually he gave in to you and he moved over to you, mocking because you weren’t listening to his advise. 

Sometimes there were just moments that he thought he knew everything better. Ever since the events with your ex boyfriend had occurred he had been very protective over you. Of course you understood that somewhere, he had seen the most horrible parts of that break up back then. He had been the one who had been holding you while you had tried to fall asleep at night, crying too hard to actually do so. He was the one who had helped you throw away his stuff and who had returned the box of his important things back to him so that you hadn’t had to see him again. He had been the one who had convinced you that none of this had been your fault and that he was the one who had lost something. He had seen everything and he had been through everything with you. So no, you didn’t blame him for acting this way…Okay, maybe just a little. The truth was, you were scared of starting over again and throwing yourself back out there. Opening yourself up for someone and a relationship meant that you were making yourself vulnerable and you hated that. Knowing that the next person could hurt you just as badly as the last one had done made you a little bit restrained. But you were sick of the fact that all your friends were slowly settling down and you still weren’t able to even think about going out again. 

“You know I’m just worried about you.” He said as he shifted beside you, watching the clock that stood on the table underneath the TV. The time for your mystery date to arrive was getting close, and it would only take ten more minutes before he would show up at your door. That was at least if he would be on time and if he would even show up at all. It almost seemed as if Baekhyun was just as nervous as you were, but you pushed that thought away. Why was he being like this? Wasn’t he supposed to be happy that you had finally picked yourself back together and you had found the confidence to put yourself out there again? “
