When he realizes he loves you part 5/5
Baekhyun One Shots“You’re still up for it?” Heather asked as the two of you walked through the hallways together. It was so weird to walk beside her, after everything that happened between the two of you. Though these days you two seemed to get along just fine. It was as if the battle between the two of you was finally over. Last period was finally over and you were glad that the day was coming to an end. You’ve had a a few tests today and you had been stressed out, fearing you wouldn’t be able to pass. In the end, they had worked out better than you had expected. “Sure, it’ll be fun.” You said, sending her a smile while your eyes were kind of searching through the corridor. The school year was coming to and end, soon all of you would go off to college, or anything they had planned for themselves. The sphere inside of the building seemed to have changed. Students knew this could be the last time they saw each other, friends knew they’d possibly drift apart and things might never be the same again. You spotted Baekhyun standing by his locker and without thinking you changed your course so you walked towards him. “Hey girls.” He said, a bright smile on his face that was pointed towards the both of you. When he leaned forward to wrap an arm around Heather’s shoulder to hold her against him you didn’t flinch as you had done so many times before. This time the smile that formed onto your face when you looked at them was genuine.
Finally it seemed as if everyone was happy and everything seemed to be exactly the way it was supposed to be. A certain peace had descended on top of you during the past few months and you could tell it had a very positive outcome on you. The first few weeks after your fight with Baekhyun you had been a mess. You had put your relationship with Nate on hold because you needed some time to think and clear your head. There had been one part of you that told you that you had been absolutely right and you were allowed to be angry. But another part had told you that this was just really stupid. Who’s fault was it even? The two of you had both been too stupid to admit your feelings to each other before it had been too late. Now your hearts had been strangled into something else and you had no idea if you had been able to fix that. Baekhyun loved Heather, you could tell by the way they had been acting when they had been together. Their break up had come to you as a shock and you had even felt guild building inside of you because of it. You’d felt like it was your fault they had broken up, as if you had been the one standing between them while you hadn’t even noticed it. You had been blind for his feelings for you, just like he had been blind for yours. That had made you realize that maybe you had been wrong all along. All you had ever wanted was for your best friend to be happy and loved, and you had been blinded by the fact that he had broken your heart, without his intentions to do so and you had treated him like trash.
Who were you to stand in his way? He was supposed to find happiness and if that wasn’t with you then so be it. By now you had figured out that a relationship between the two of you wouldn’t even have worked. You were both too stubborn, you knew each other way too well and way too long, it would have been like dating your brother. No, he deserved better than this, better than you. And now, as you looked at him, together with Heather, you knew he had found exactly what he needed. She loved him, more than anything and it was a beautiful thing to see. She was a really nice girl, you couldn’t believe you had once hated her so badly. “Where’s Nate? Or is he going to be late, like last time?” Baekhyun asked as he looked up at you and when you looked into his eyes it was as if everything had gone back to the way it used to be. The two of you spoke again, about stuff that normal friends didn’t talk about. You were so glad to have your best friend back, after all these hardship and struggles. The thought that you could have lost him in the end made you feel terrible and you couldn’t imagine how your life would have been without him in it. “He’ll be here in a few.” You said, reminding yourself that he had texted you a few minutes ago that he was on his way. As if on cue the doors of the school building opened and Nate walked in. A pair of black sunglasses resting on his nose, his jacket hanging around his shoulders and his hands in his pockets as he walked towards the three of you.
His amazing looks still surprised you, when he walked into a room every head turned towards him, as if they only had eyes for him. Sadly enough for them, the only thing he had eyes for were you. It hadn’t been easy for the two of you, with everything that had been going on between you and Baekhyun and the fact that he had to move back towards his parents and had to leave. But now that your friendship was restored and Nate was coming over every weekend you felt like the luckiest girl on earth. And there was more, now that you and Baekhyun had gotten over yourselves and had finally accepted things the way they were, it seemed that the boys got along much better than first expected. “I’m not late, It’s four on the dot.” Nate said as he gave your shoulder a little squeeze before giving Heather a hug and greeting Baekhyun with this weird handshake they always did when they saw each other. It was a big relieve knowing the two people you couldn’t seem to live without had turned out to be friends. Now that Nate knew Baekhyun was
