Happy Lunar New Year II

I'm Different

“Do we really have to ride this?” Junhyung asked Haneul.

“Why? We’re in the queue. Besides, what is wrong with this ride?” She asked him with a slight pout that made his knees jelly.

“Nothing is wrong. We’ll just ride it if you like it.” He said, smiling.

“LOOK AT THAT!!” She squealed, pointing at the roller coaster that zoomed passed them.

Junhyung felt a knot in his stomach. He was on the verge of puking just by looking at it.

“It’s cool, isn’t it!?” She jumped excitedly.

“Ye..a.. Yea.. Cool..” He mumbled.

Junhyung wasn’t the adventure seeking kind. Just by looking at the roller coaster suspend in the air was enough to stop his breathing. He never understood why would one actually be willing to risk their life to go on such stuff, the more did he not expect his beloved girlfriend to be someone who actually enjoys such risk.

“It’s our turn!! Let’s take the front seat!” Haneul said excitedly, pulling him along.

“FRONT SE..” Even before Junhyung could finish, he found himself pushed into the seat.

Haneul affectionately helped him with the seat belt. He held onto her hand tight, earning a weird look from her.

“Just in case you get scared.” He said, but in fact, it was his heart that was racing.

“Don’t hold me like this. We should enjoy the ride!” She said, pulling her hand out of his.

“I..” He mumbled.

‘I’M SCARED!!! HOLD ME!!!’ He yelled inwardly.

“Okay~” He said instead.

When the ride started, Haneul was looking down excitedly while Junhyung held tightly onto the sides. Haneul, absorbed into her own world, had absolutely no clue how frighten her boyfriend beside her was. The ride started slow, going upwards. Junhyung was in a mess. On one hand, he wanted to know when the ride would start going down at devil’s speed, on another hand, he didn’t dare to look at how high they actually were.

Just as he was contemplating whether to open his eyes or not, the ride stopped, and so did his breath. They were going downhill even before he could regain his breath. The kimchi stew from the morning’s breakfast was at his throat. While Haneul was laughing and enjoying the ride, Junhyung was praying very hard that the ride would stop soon. And it did. It stopped, but not at its original position, but suspended midair, upside down.

“OH MY GOD!!” Haneul laughed, shaking his arm.

“Mmm..” He mumbled.

“What’s wrong?” She asked.

“I.. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!” Even before he could answer her, the ride started again, sending them flying at double the previous speed.

Junhyung couldn’t be bothered about his pride now. He threw himself onto Haneul, burying his face in her chest and screaming for his life. Haneul was lost between wanting to have fun and the sudden outburst of her boyfriend. She quickly digested the situation; Junhyung was scared.

“It’s alright!” She yelled through the wind and the many other screams from behind.

She hugged him, patting his back lightly.

After three more rounds, the ride came to a stop. Junhyung looked up, looking totally different from how he looks like when he first stepped out of the house.

“Are you… okay?” Haneul asked, his back lightly.

“Yes.. I.. think..” Junhyung mumbled, stumbling out of the ride like a drunkard.

“Let’s sit dow…” Haneul mumbled as she watch Junhyung sprint to the toilet.

She sighed and sat down on the bench, pouting to the Duckies.

“Sorry~” Junhyung said as he walked back awhile later.

The colour on his face was slowly returning, but his hands were still cold.

“Sorry.” Haneul said, hugging his waist.

“Silly. I’m fine.” He laughed.

“Why didn’t you stop me from going on it? I would not have gone on it if you didn’t like it.” She said.

“I rather throw up than take away the smile from your face.” He said, touching her lips lightly.

“Smile~” He said, pushing the corner of her lips up.

“Feeling better?” She asked.

“Much better. Now, which one next?” He asked, looking around.

“You still want to ride!?” She asked.

“Of course! Now that my stomach is empty, I can ride on anything!” He smiled.

“I don’t want.” She said.

“I know you want it. We’ll just go okay! But, hold onto me. Please?” He aegyo-ed.

“I’ll hug you tight.” She said, kissing his cheek.

They carried on going on various extreme rides. From time to time, Haneul would be so absorbed into the rides that she forgot her boyfriend’s fear, but she would quickly remember it just by looking at his face. He threw his pride aside and openly showed her his fear. She would hug him if she could or let him squeeze her hand tight.

“VIKING VIKING VIKING!!!” She screamed excitedly.

“Alright alright!” He laughed.

“BACK ROW!!!” She yelled the moment it was their turn.

“How about first?” Junhyung asked.

“Huh? First?” Haneul’s smile dropped.

“No. Let’s go to the back.” Junhyung said.

They were the only ones at the back, so they could hug each other.

“It’s not that scary after all! Just enjoy the ride and you’ll realize it is actually fun.” Haneul said as the ship started slow.

Junhyung just nodded, but his eyes were closed.

“Trust me! The moment you enjoy the ride, there’s nothing to fear! I wasn’t born fearless of such stuff you know.” She said.

He looked at her with a raised brow.

“What? It’s only natural to be afraid, but once you start telling yourself to enjoy the ride, this is PARADISEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HAHAHAHAHHAHA!!!!” Haneul yelled, smiling really widely as the ship went to its highest, zooming down.

“HUG MY ARM AND JUST OPEN YOUR EYES!!” She shouted.

Junhyung was a little doubtful at first, but he did it anyway. He hugged her arm tightly while peeking through the lids of his eyes. He sighed deeply before opening his eyes full. Haneul was right, it was indeed paradise. He felt as thou he was at the top of the world. He turned to his side and was greeted by an even more beautiful sight; Haneul was laughing and enjoying herself a lot.

“It’s fun right!?” She shouted, smiling at him.

He nodded.

As the ride went on, he suddenly cupped her cheeks, crashing his lips onto hers. She was stunned at first, but slowly started to enjoy the kiss. The people on the other side were yelling and cheering for them.

“I love you.” Junhyung whispered, brushing her lips lightly with the pat of his thumb.

“Hehe~” That was all Haneul could say.

As they got off the rides, guys were patting Junhyung’s back for his daring action while Haneul just looked down, smiling at her feet. If only they knew who he was, she thought.

“Shall we go for food?” Junhyung asked her.

Haneul did not answer him. She was just walking with her head down. If not for their hands intertwined with each other, Haneul may most likely end up banging into something.

“Darling?” Junhyung shook her hand.

“Hmm?” She looked up, blushing and grinning.

“Omo! What happened to your face!?” He laughed, rubbing her red cheeks.

She shook her head and ran off.

“Yah yah!!” He laughed, running after her.

“Someone is embarrassed?” He .

“No!” She said, elbowing him in his ribs.

“Don’t be shy.” He said, putting his arm over her shoulders.

“Why did you do that?” She asked softly.

“Do what?” He teased.

“Nothing.” She mumbled.

“Because I love you and I want the world to know.” He said.

She blushed even harder, smiled even wider.

They had lunch at the restaurant in the theme park itself. After lunch, they went on slower, calmer rides. The last one they went on was the carousel. They sat on horses next to each other, holding hands.

“Wouldn’t it be nice if we bring our kids here some day?” Junhyung said.

“Kids?” Haneul laughed.

“You don’t want to start a family with me?” Junhyung asked, feigning hurt.

“Not really. One Junhyung is enough. I cannot imagine another one. Gosh~ Madness.” Haneul said.

Junhyung pouted, looking down.

“We have them!” Haneul said, taking out the Duckies in hope to cheer him up.

Junhyung took the Duckies and rested his cheek on them.

“You’re flattening them!” She yelled.

“They are already flat.” He said, with his eyes closed.

Haneul smiled, touching Junhyung’s hair.

“Your hair is so soft.” She said.

“And your cheeks, so cute.” She said, pinching his cheeks lightly.

“So handsome.” She mumbled.

He opened his eyes and looked directly at her.

“What?” She asked.

“We will be forever, right?” He asked.

“Will we?” She asked him.

“I say we would.” He said.

“Then, we would.” She smiled, leaning over to give him a quick kiss.

They headed for the gift store as soon as they got off the ride.

“Let’s buy headbands!” Haneul suggested.

“Which one do you want?” Junhyung asked.

“Which one do you want?” Haneul asked.

“Me?” He asked.

“Of course!” She smiled, looking at the various headbands.

She tried many on him; bunny, lion, bear, elephant, cat, pig, dog.

“How come everything looks weird? And why don’t they have a dragon one?” She asked herself.

“I don’t suit such stuff.” He said.

“Yes you do! I remember your Minnie Mouse!” She said, putting a giraffe one on him.

“HOW ABOUT THIS!? SO CUTE!” She squealed, turning him to look into the mirror.

“I look weird.” He said.

“No you don’t! You look cute! We’ll just pretend this is a dragon.” She said.

“But this is a giraffe.” He said.

“PRETEND!! Besides, they look almost the same.” She said.

“How are they the same!?” He asked.

“I say they are the same!” She frowned.

“Okay! They are identical!” He said.

“Yes!” She smiled.

He rolled his eyes and laughed at her.

“How about you?” He asked.

It was now his turn to try on her. Everything looks cute to him he wish she would allow him to put everything on her head.

“Settle with one!” She got impatient.

“Okay okay! This!” He said, leaving the Panda ear headband on her head.

“This? I’m not Seungho!” She said.

“Of course you’re not! You’re way much cuter.” He pinched her cheeks as he made his way to pay for the headbands.

They walked around the theme park with the headbands on their head, linking arms and feeding each other cotton candy.

“Reminds me of the song you sang~” Junhyung said.

“What song?” Haneul asked.

“Cotton Candy.” He said.

“Oh that one. Tsk! Don’t talk about it~” She laughed.

“Why not!?” He shoved more cotton candy into .

“It’s embarrassing!” She whined.

“MMM!! COKE!!!” Junhyung jumped excitedly.

“No coke.” She said.

“HUH!? WHY!?” He asked like a kid who got deprived of ice cream.

“You had two cans just now during lunch.” Haneul said.

“PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!” Junhyung begged.

“No.” She said.

Junhyung knew that Haneul was doing it for his own good, but how could he resist Coke?

“I don’t deprive you of ice cream.” He mumbled.

“I didn’t deprive you of Coke too. You had two cans just now!” Haneul said.

Junhyung kept quiet, pouting like a three year old. He didn’t even open his mouth when Haneul offered him cotton candy.

“Alright, but last one.” Haneul sighed.

Junhyung’s eyes lit up and he nodded excitedly. He ran to the store and bought himself a bottle of Coke. He walked back, sipping onto the sweet drink and smiling really cutely.

“If not for this smile, I would never give in.” Haneul said, pinching his cheeks.

“Heehee~” Junhyung giggled as he continued to drink.

“Are we going back already? We have played almost everything.” Haneul said.

“I think so. We can go shopping since its only 5PM.” Junhyung said.

“Shopping!? Really?!” Haneul asked excitedly.

“Of course.” Junhyung said.

As they made their way out, Junhyung suddenly stopped.

“Why?” Haneul asked.

“That one. We haven’t been there.” Junhyung said, pointing.

Haneul froze when she saw what Junhyung was pointing at.

“Must we?” She asked.

“Come on! It’s fun!” He said, dragging her along.

‘I don’t want!!!!’ She was screaming in her head.

The Haunted House. Haneul could watch horror movies and laugh her head off, but for some odd reason, she just cannot stand being in the haunted house.

Chapter 208: Finally! I've read everything. It was ultimately satisfying. No regrets reading it for a long time even though I stopped at the very last chapters but I managed to finished it. I love everything in this story. The plot, the characters and so on. Their quirkiness and childishness always make me smiles and laughs most of the time. It makes my day at how ridiculous the characters are. However, it never fails to teach me the lessons of life and how important are the families including non-blood relation. It makes to appreciate yet enjoy the content as well. Yes, I agree with you that the ending was already perfect as it was. :D Despite the chapters are unbearably long, it was entertaining and well done. Love your story! ♥
