Haneul’s POV

It was Christmas’s eve. The bookstore for close for the festival therefore I was just at home. I lied on my bed, unwilling to wake up. Christmas used to mean something to me, but not anymore. But then again, I couldn’t help to think about the times my family and I celebrate Christmas together. I walked out of my room and silence greeted me, as usual. There was an envelope on the dining table. I opened it and took out the contents; a slip of note and a credit card.

‘Merry Christmas, our Dear girl. Go buy yourself something nice. Have fun! Love, Mom and Dad’

Do they sell this thing called ‘time’ in the malls? Because that’s what I really want to buy.

I was brushing my teeth when my phone rang. I rinse my mouth and rushed to answer it. It was an unknown number.

“Hello?” I answered.

“Erm, this is Doojoon.” The voice said.

“Huh?” I was confused.

“Doojoon. You came to our dorm yesterday, remember? You’re the cleaning lady, right?” He said.

Oh~ Cleaning lady. Yes.

“Ah yea.” I said.

“I got your number from the security since you didn’t give me yours yesterday. I hope you aren’t offended.” He said.

“No, it’s cool. How can I help you?” I asked.

“I know today is Christmas Eve and you may have your plans, but you’re really needed today.” He said.

“Huh? I mean, sure.” I said.

“We have our schedules till tonight. Our dorm is really in a huge mess and we have people coming over tonight. Actually all I need you to do is to clean the place up and buy some stuff.” He said.

“Erm okay. So, what should I buy?” I asked.

“I left you a list on the door of the refrigerator, together with the money.” He said.

“Okay. I’ll be over in awhile.” I said.

“And one more thing, please be done by latest 6PM. Not that I’m trying to kick you out or anything but you know…” He said.

“Yea I know. I’ll be done before 6PM.” I said.

“Thank you very much. Merry Christmas.” He said before hanging up.

Yes, Merry Christmas, and I’m going to clean my boyfriend’s dorm. How merry.

I looked at the clock, it was about 10.30AM. I quickly showered, got dressed and left my house. When I arrived, I entered using the code Doojoon sent to me. I almost fainted when I saw the sight of the dorm. Doojoon was right when he said the place is in a huge mess. The entire place was turned upside down. What exactly did they do here last night?

“How do I actually clean up?” I asked myself.

It has been really long since I last clean up. I pulled up my sleeve and got down to work. I cleared the rubbish. Empty cans, food packets, chips, peanut shells, even half eaten bananas were all over the floor. How disgusting. I picked up everything and dumped them into a huge garbage bag.

After I was done with the rubbish, I washed up the dishes in the sink as well as the kitchen because the floor felt as thou it was coated with sugar. Did they have a food fight here or something? I could picture Junhyung being part of this as well.

I headed to the toilet after I was done with the kitchen. I almost slipped because there was soap all over the floor. How old are these boys again? Five? Toothpaste, toothbrushes, shavers, comb, towels and even boxers were lying all over the floor, the toilet bowl and the bathtub. I picked them up, feeling really disgusted and dumped them to a side.

I went into their rooms to collect their clothing that were lying around to wash them before heading back to wash the toilet. Honestly, I enjoyed washing the toilet because in the past I would always do it with my mother. It was fun as we would spray water on each other and just talk about stuff. Those were the days.

After the toilet, I went to make their beds and put their stuff in place before going to hang up the washed clothing. I cleaned up the living room, wiped the windows and vacuumed the floor. I searched high and low for a mop but I couldn’t find it. In the end, I took a piece of rag and went on my knees to clean the floor.

After I was finally done, I was already half dead. I looked at the time. It was 3.30PM.

I dragged my feet out of the house to the supermarket to get whatever Doojoon asked me to get. I was walking at a really slow speed, enjoying the cold and watching people enjoy their Christmas Eve. Junhyung didn’t even give me a call today. How nice of him.

I strolled the aisles of the supermarket, taking my own sweet time in buying the stuff they wanted. Chips, instant foods, biscuits, ice creams, cereals, bread, beer, COKE. Must be Junhyung. How unhealthy their diet is. But then again, not like mine is very healthy either.

My phone rang. It was Doojoon.

“Hello?” I answered.

“Erm, are you done?” He asked.

“Yea, but I’m in the supermarket.” I said.

“Oh, are you almost done there then? Because we ended early.” He said.

I looked at the time, it was 4.30PM.

“Can you be back before 5PM?” He asked.

“FIVE!?” I shouted.

“Sorry.” I apologized.

“Yea.. I know it’s kinda rush.” He said.

I sighed and rolled my eyes.

“I’ll be done before five.” I said.

“Thank you very much.” He said.

“Yea.” I hung up the call.

I rushed to get whatever they wanted. I paid and dragged the heavy bags back to the dorm. Luckily it wasn’t far, but the weight of those bags was enough to kill! I kept looking at the clock while shoving the stuff into their respective places. At 4.55PM, I put on my shoes, grabbed my bag and left the place. I was hungry and tired, but I didn’t have the energy to go get food. I took a bus back home and collapsed onto my bed instantly.

“Your idol is an !” I poked the Duckie’s nose.

Junhyung’s POV

“WAH!” Yoseob shouted as we entered the dorm.

“WAH!!!” I exclaimed as well, looking at the sight of our dorm.

It was so clean to the point it sparkled. I am not exaggerating. I have never seen our dorm so clean before! It even smelt good. It was like.. WAH!

“Seems like the new girl can really do her job.” Hyunseung said.

“What new girl?” I asked.

“We have a new cleaning lady.” He said.

“We do?” I asked.

“Yea, we do. You probably haven’t met her yet.” He said.

“Oh..” I said.

I opened the fridge to answer my coke cravings only ONE bottle of coke and the rest were all Evians.

“HYUNG! Didn’t you ask her to get coke!?” I shouted.

“I did! I wrote it on the paper! Why?” Doojoon asked, walking towards me.

“EH!?” His eyes widened.

I frowned at him.

“Ahh~ Don’t be angry. For a change, drink water. It’s good for you.” He said with a smile.

“I WANT COKE!!!” I shouted.

“There’s one.” He said.

“Only one!!” I whined.

“How many do you want!?” He asked.

“THREE!!” I shouted.

“Seriously, it’s time you start drinking water.” He said.

“DOCK HER PAY!!” I yelled, stomping into the room.

I threw myself onto the bed, feeling really upset that the new girl changed all my coke to Evians. Who is she to do this? Not like she is Haneul.

Haneul! I haven’t heard from her today! I looked at the time. It was about 7.30PM. She should still be awake. It’s Christmas Eve, I wonder where she went.

“Mmm..” She answered.

“Hello? Darling? You’re asleep?” I asked.

“Mmm..” She answered.

“Why do you sound so tired? Did you do a lot of shopping today?” I asked.

“No. I was busy…” Her voice trailed off.

“Aww.. Are you really that sleepy? Poor thing. What did you do?” I asked.

“I mmm the hur…” She mumbled.

“What?” I asked, laughing at her.

“Ughhh Jun ah~ I want to sleep.” She said.

“Okay okay. But, are you free tomorrow?” I asked.

“Yea..” She said.

“It’s Christmas! We’ll go out, okay?” I said.

She didn’t answer.

“Hello? Darling?” I called.

I heard her snoring softly. She must have fallen asleep.

“Good night. Sleep tight. I love you.” I kissed the phone before hanging up.

What did she do today to cause her to be this sleepy?
