Junhyung’s POV

“AHHHH!!! DON’T LET GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Haneul yelled for her dear life.

“HAHAHAHA! How can I let go when you’re clinging onto me so tightly!?” I laughed.

“I’m scared!!!!” She whined.

“How do you expect to ski like this!?” I asked.

She was clinging onto me like a koala bear.

“I don’t know!!” She shouted.

“Trust me. I wouldn’t let you fall.” I said, holding her hand.

“No no no!!!” She shook her head.

“Okay, let’s give up skiing.” I said.

“Huh!? No!! I want to learn!” She protested.

“But how!?” I looked at her.

“Okay okay! Erm.. AHHH I’M SCARED!!!” She jumped into my embrace.

“Do you trust me?” I asked her.

“Of course!” She said.

“Then let go.” I said.

“Huh? How is letting go trusting you?” She asked.

“I’ll never let you fall. Even if you happen to fall, I’ll cushion your fall. I’ll never let you get hurt.” I said.

She looked at me, her hands trembling really badly.

“Go on. It’s going to be scary, no doubt. But enjoy the experience, not fear it.” I said.

“What kind of a coach encourages his student like this?” She pouted.

“This kind. I can’t be lying to you and telling you that you’re going to fly, right?” I said.

“Alright, alright.” She said, letting go of my hand slightly.

She quickly grabbed me again when she moved a little.

“Go on, it’s just a small hill. If you can do this, you can do anything.” I told her.

“I’m scared.” She pouted.

“We’ll go together.” I said.

“You’ll end up flying down on your own!” She whined.

“You don’t trust me huh?” I said.

“No no. Ahhh damn!” She covered her face.

“Even if you don’t trust me, at least trust yourself. You’re not going to let yourself fall. You’ll enjoy it.” I said.

I grabbed her hands and lead her to hold onto the skiing rod.

“Now, look forward, not down.” I told her.

“See that. See the snow there? You love the snow, don’t you?” I said.

She nodded. I could tell she was trying to calm herself down.

“This is your life. Hold onto it real tight. You can choose to let go or you can choose to let it take you to heaven. It’s your choice!” I shouted.

I let go of her and skied downhill.

“YAHHHH!!!!!” I heard her shout.

I stopped below and looked up at her. I gestured for her to come over to me.

“I’LL CATCH YOU IF YOU FALL! I PROMISE YOU!” I shouted, hoping she’ll hear it.

She stood there for about fifteen minutes or so. I was about to walk back up when I heard a piercing scream followed by a figure flying downhill.

“Oh my god.” I mumbled.

I took out my phone and snapped a photo of her.

She was smiling and laughing so happily. She did it.

“Woah woah woah. Be careful there, genius.” I caught her before she went somewhere else.

“Hahahahahaha!!!” She kept laughing, not able to say anything.

“Someone’s adrenaline is pumped up to the max.” I said, wiping the sweat of her forehead.

“It’s fun! Damn fun!” She laughed.

“It’s okay, right?” I asked her.

She nodded excitedly.

“Shall we go higher?” I asked her.

“YES!!” She exclaimed.

I helped her take off the skiing gear so it would be easier for her to walk.

“You’ll hold this.” She said, pushing everything to me.

“Right. Thanks.” I mumbled as I struggled with our gears.

“Aww.. Just kidding. I’ll help you.” She smiled and took one skiing rod.

“That was.. great help.” I said.

“Really? I thought so too!” She hugged my arm.

We went up to the peak where we skied together. She kept wanting to go higher but it was dangerous for a beginner.

“Come on! Just a little higher!” She whined.

“No.” I said.

“Please!” She pouted.

“No no.” I looked away, not wanting to give in to her pout.

“You’re mean!” She pulled my ear.

“Oww~ I’m concerned for you!” I said.

“Ya! Whatever!” She squat down and played with the snow.

“Aghhhh~ You’ll kill me one day.” I mumbled.

“Fine! But that’s the last one!” I said.

“Really!?” She beamed.

“Yea. Let’s go.” I said.

“You’re the best!” She jumped around.

“You change too fast.” I shook my head.

“We’ll go to.. YAH!!!” Even before I could say anything, she was already flying downhill.

“HANEUL AH!!!” I yelled as I tried to catch up with her.

“Yea?” She turned back to look at me.

“YAH!!! DON’T TURN BACK!!!” I shouted.

I pushed myself forward to be faster than her. The wind felt like a blade cutting against my skin.

“AHHHHH!!!!” I heard Haneul yell.

I saw her losing control and heading towards a tree.

“Damn it.” I cursed.

I was close to her, but not close enough to grab her yet. I forced myself forward and managed to grab her just in time before she crashed into the tree. I lost balance and we both ended up rolling downhill together. I threw the rods aside and pulled her close to myself, her face in my chest, shielding her from the impact.

We stopped when my back hit something hard.

“Agh~” I whined at the impact.

“Are you okay!?” I asked her.

She looked up at me, obviously shaken up.

“Yah! Haneul ah! Are you okay!?” I tap her cheek.

She nodded slightly.

“That’s good.” I kissed her.

“You’re bleeding.” She said.

“I am? Where?” I asked, looking all over.

“Here.” She touched my forehead.

“Ouch.” I winced at her touch.

“I’m sorry.” She apologized.

“Silly. It’s not your fault. Besides, it’s just a cut.” I said.

“It’s not just a cut.” She pouted.

“Then what?” I asked.

She reached into her pocket and took out her phone. She showed me my reflection using her front camera. I had cuts on my neck and face as well as a bruise on my cheek.

“That’s ugly.” I said, trying to make her laugh.

She looked down and pouted even more.

“Aww come on! Help me clean the wounds, would you? Then we’ll go snowboarding!” I said.

She smiled slightly and stood up.

“I’ll hold everything.” She said, pulling me up.

“Am I that kind of guy?” I said.

She looked at me blankly.

“Just hold my hand. My back hurts.” I said, slightly pouting at her.

She nodded and linked arms with me.

“Stop pouting, you don’t look good like this.” I said, pinching her lips lightly.

We returned the gears and went back to our room where she helped me clean my wounds. After that, we had lunch before heading to snowboard.

“You can ski, this isn’t difficult.” I said.

I taught her how to stand up as well as stop.

“We’ll go straight first yea? Later I’ll teach you how to turn.” I said.

“Ahh wait! Don’t let go of me yet!” She screamed.

“I’m not letting go. Who said I am letting go? My nose was just itchy.” I laughed.

“Tsk! Stop laughing at me!” She frowned.

“Okay okay. Can we go now?” I said.

She nodded.

I stood in front of her while she tried to balance herself.

“Keep going. I am here.” I told her as I held onto her hand, practically pulling her downhill.

“I’m going to let go yea. We’ll try a short distance.” I told her.

“WAIT!!!” She screamed.

She grabbed onto my hand tightly for quite awhile before she let go.

“You almost cut off my blood circulation.” I said.

“Sorry!” She frowned.

“Okay. Smile! Gosh~” I push the corner of her lips upwards.

“I’m scared!” She said.

“You’ll do just fine! Come on, you’re Haneul! You’re supposed to be only afraid of cats and nothing else!” I .

“Just go wherever you want to go!” She pushed me slightly.

“You said it huh. No regrets.” I turned my back and snowboarded down about five meters.

I stopped and turn to her. She was squatting in the same position, grabbing tightly onto the board.

“COME ON!” I shouted, opening my arms.

“Come and hug your boyfriend!” I said.

“I don’t want to!!!” She shouted back.

“I’m cold! Come and hug me!” I shouted.

“You’re dressed in thick clothes! Don’t lie!” She yelled.

I took off my coat and scarf, dumping them beside me. I was left in a long sleeve shirt.

“WHAT ARE YOU DOING!? PUT IT BACK ON!!!” She shouted.

“Come and put it on for me.” I yelled back.

“HOW CAN YOU PRESSURE ME LIKE THIS!?” She shouted.

“No pressure! I’ll wait!” I said, squatting down.

She looked really frustrated but scared at the same time. I know it wasn’t really morally right of me to pressure her like this. But I really wanted to teach her how to ski, snowboard and skate by today. I may never have the chance anymore and there is still a whole load of stuff I wanted to do with her. I know she can do it; she just needs to overcome her fear.

I waited in the cold for what seems like three hours but actually it was only twenty minutes. I watch as she stood up and squat back down countless times. I understood her fear. We had the rods to hold onto while we ski, but it’s as good as embracing air when it comes to snowboarding.

“Jun ah! Please put on your coat!!!” She yelled at me.

I smiled at her and gestured her to come forward.

“I HATE YOU!!!” She yelled.

“You know you love me!” I yelled back.

I was starting to feel numb from the cold. My teeth were chattering like crazy. Everything around me was white. The longer I waited, the sleepier I got.

“Please!!!!” She pleaded.

“I promise I’ll catch you if you fall! Didn’t I prove it to you just now that I would protect you already? Besides, you can ski, you can snowboard too! It’s about the same, just without the rods!” I yelled.

“I’m scared!!! I’m really scared!!!” She shouted, sounding as thou she was on the verge of crying.

Sorry, Haneul ah. I’m so sorry. If I had forever, I would not resort to such methods. I never want to see you cry. Your happiness is my everything.

“Close your eyes and picture yourself holding onto the rod! And then let your feet take charge! Trust yourself, Haneul ah!” I yelled at her.

“YOU CAN DO IT! I KNOW YOU CAN! YOU WERE DOING SO WELL JUST NOW!” I shouted.

I think almost an hour had passed when she finally stood up. I stood up as well, ready to catch her the moment she nears me. I watch her lean forward, snowboarding towards me. Her movements were graceful, not scared or messy. She didn’t even make a sound.

I saw a small smile crept onto her face as she came closer. Her eyes were closed. I wonder what she was thinking about. I caught her before she could go too far. She opened her eyes and smiled slightly at me.

“Fun, isn’t it?” I said.

Her smile turned into a frown and she hit me on my chest.

“How could you do this to me?” She said.

“But you did it anyway, so what’s wrong?” I said.

“What if you fall sick? Or you freeze to death!?” She shouted.

“You wouldn’t let that happen to me.” I said.

“Stupid!” She punched my arm.

I let her hit me, it doesn’t matter anyway.

“Don’t ever do such things again!” She shouted.

“Just look at you! You’re so cold!” She said, rubbing my arms to warm me up.

I hugged her tight.

“Let go! Put on your coat!” She whined.

“No no. Stay like this for awhile.” I said.

“Come on! You’re freezing!” She said.

“Please.” I said softly.

She pulled me closer to herself and my back.

“Is everything okay?” She asked me.

“It has never been better.” I whispered.

We hugged for quite awhile before she forcefully pulled away from me. She literally forced me into my coat and circled the scarf around my neck, covering half my face.

“Don’t you dare take it out.” She warned.

I nodded.

We continued to snowboard until it was almost dark.

“Let’s go for dinner and then I’ll teach you how to ice skate.” I said.

“You aren’t tired?” She asked.

“Are you tired?” I asked her.

“No. But you look like you’ll pass out any time.” I said.

“I just happened to look like this.” I said.

“No you don’t!” She laughed.

“Come on, let’s go.” I said.

We had a quick dinner in one of the restaurant.

“When are we going back?” She asked.

“Why? You want to go back already?” I asked.

“No no! I’m just asking.” She said.

“Well.. I’ve booked the room for four days. We can either extend or leave earlier, it depends on you.” I said.

“Four days? You don’t have to work?” She asked.

“You want me to go to work?” I asked.

“No.” She said.

“You want me to quit my job?” I asked.

“No! It’s not that! Arghhh~ Don’t twist my words!” She said.

“I am on a break.” I smiled.

“Then shouldn’t you be getting some rest?” She said.

“Why? You sound like you don’t like it here.” I said, pretending to look hurt.

“No, it’s not it. I love it here. But you look so tired. You have to teach me stuff and can’t even take a break. To add to that, you got hurt. This isn’t relaxation. Look, your dark circles are becoming like Seungho’s.” She said.

“Any time spend with you is relaxing time yea. And, I don’t look like Hyung. He’s a panda, I am human.” I pat her cheek.

“Come on. Eat up and we’ll leave.” I said.

We walked to the skating rink after dinner. I rented the whole place so she could make mistakes without having to feel embarrassed.

“Why is it empty?” She asked.

I shrug my shoulders and went off to rent the skates.

“Come. I’ll wear them for you.” I said, taking off her shoes.

“I’ll do it myself.” She said.

“You clumsy fellow. The blades are really sharp. I don’t want you to cut yourself.” I said.

“Who is the one always getting cuts and bruises all over?” She mumbled.

“If you can roller blade, this is easy.” I said, holding her hand, leading her to the skating rink.

“I can’t roller blade. But I can cycle.” She said.

“Ahh~ It’s about the same. It both has wheels.” I said.

“What a lousy explanation.” She laughed.

Teaching her how to skate was an easier task than teaching her how to snowboard and ski. She got a hang of it pretty quickly. Although she had to go through the ‘don’t let me go’ stage, she picked it up fast and soon, she was skating all over the place.

I watch her from the side as she went rounds after rounds. The smile on her face was priceless.

“Why aren’t you skating!?” She shouted.

“I’m watching you.” I said.

“What are you!? A ert!?” She teased.

“YES!” I shouted and skate in her direction.

“Don’t let me catch you!” I shouted, chasing her.

We spend a few hours in the skating rink, chasing each other and having fun.

“Do a ballerina spin!” She requested.

“Huh? I am a rapper.” I said.

“Aww~ Then rap and skate and do the ballerina spin!” She said.

 “What’s with the ballerina spin?” I asked.

“I want to see it!” She said.

I rapped ‘Beautiful’ while skating around her. She was smiling like a fan girl. I ended with a slight spin that Joon happened to teach me before. I bowed 90 degrees in front of her.

“WOAH!!!!!” She clapped and cheered.

“Teach me how to spin!” She swing my arm.

“That you got to ask Joon. I may end up causing you to break your bones. I don’t want that to happen.” I said.

“Awww~ It’s okay. That was awesome thou! Can you do the Fiction dance step!?” She asked excitedly.

“Darling, this is ice.” I said.

“But nothing is impossible, right!?” She said.

I looked at her, and then at the ice.

“Ahh never mind. I was just kidding.” She said, skating in another direction.

I practiced on the spot for a few minutes and tried to get the hang of it.

I started singing, loud enough for her to hear. When she turned back, I rapped my part while skating towards her. Then I held onto her hand while I sang and danced the steps for ‘Fiction’. She was smiling so widely that despite the fact I think I look extremely ugly and awkward right now, it didn’t matter at all.

“Saranghae saranghae saranghae saranghae saranghae,” I rapped into her face and she looked away, blushing. I made her face me while I sang. After I was done with the song, I kissed her on her lips to end it.

“Like it?” I asked her.

“DAEBAK!” She clapped and kissed me again.

“You’re really talented, you know?” She said as we skate around, hand in hand.

“I don’t know about that. I just know I am really lucky.” I said.

“Why?” She asked.

“Because I have you.” I said.

“That’s super cheesy!” She laughed.

We continued skating around. I piggy backed her while skating just to entertain her with speed. When we left, it was already close to 2AM.

“Tired?” I asked her.

She nodded sleepily.

“The walk is long. I’ll piggy back you.” I said, getting on my knees.

“It’s okay.” She said.

“Come~” I pulled her onto my back.

“Let me down. You’re tired too.” She said.

“Try to jump off yourself.” I said, holding her tightly.

She rested her head on my shoulder.

“Sleep. I know you’re tired.” I said.

She fell asleep pretty quickly. I walked slower to let her sleep. When we arrived, I put her on the bed. She didn’t even wake up.

“Tired eh?” I whispered as I took off her coat and shoes.

I wiped her face, arms and legs with a warm towel because I know she would not wake up to shower. I took a quick shower myself before going to join her in bed. She was already snoring softly by then.

“Good night, Darling. I hope you enjoyed today.” I said softly, kissing her lightly on her forehead.

I covered the blanket over the both of us. I fell into a deep sleep even before I could think about anything.
