I'm Different

Spring

Haneul’s POV

“Haneul!” Someone knocked on my door.

“Are you awake!?” She yelled.

“Yea….” I mumbled, stumbling out of bed.

“Yes?” I opened the door, but not my eyes.

“Aigoo! Open your eyes!” The person at the door squashed my cheeks.

“Ughhhhh~ What is it, Ahjumma? I’m sleepy!” I yawned.

“I know you’re dead beat after coming back from Kenya, but there’s someone looking for you.” She said.

“Which crazy?” I grumbled.

“What crazy!? He is really handsome.” She giggled.

“If he’s not crazy, would he come so early?” I asked.

“What early!? It’s almost 2PM! He has been here since 9AM! He told me to not wake you up but he waited for so long I thought I should wake you up, or else knowing you, he might have to wait until tomorrow.” She laughed.

“Alright, alright.” I mumbled.

I went to wash up and headed out.

“Why is this place so quiet!?” I yelled as I stretched myself.

“They’re all in school.” Someone answered.

“Ahh really? Not back yet?” I asked.

“They’ll be back at 4PM. Jace is the driver for the day.” She said.

“Oh right, Ahjumma said someone is looking for me?” I asked.

“HANEUL!” I heard a familiar voice shout.

I turn around and froze. How did Junhyung know I was here?

“Jun.. Hyung?” I mumbled.

“Oh there you are! I was looking for you to tell you this lazy bum is awake, but you were nowhere to be seen.” Ahjumma said from behind me.

“I went to walk around. Sorry.” Junhyung apologized.

“Don’t apologize! Have you eaten? If not, I’ll make you some food, you can eat with Haneul.” She suggested.

“It’s alright.” Junhyung said.

“Just say yes.” I mumbled, walking passed him.

“Oh erm.. Thank you then.” He said, bowing.

“We don’t have Coke here.” I said, handing him a cup of water.

“It’s fine.” He said.

“How did you find me here?” I asked.

“You said you would give me a chance, but you left me with nothing. So I asked around.” He said.

“I was about to give you my number that day, but you disappeared.” I said.

“Sorry. I was rushed off.” He said.

“Why are you here?” I asked.

“To make full use of my chance?” He said.

“Why… Are you living in an orphanage?” He asked, looking around.

“You got a problem with that?” I asked.

“No no. I am just curious. Where are your parents? Your home?” He asked.

I looked at him.

“Please don’t tell me something happened to your parents!” He said, a little too loudly.

I didn’t answer him, just wanting to see his response.

“What happened!?” His eyes started to water.

“Hahahaha! Nothing! Gosh! Nothing happened!” I laughed.

“THEN WHY AREN’T YOU SAYING ANYTHING!?” He yelled, wiping the tears off his eyes.

“Just wanted to tease you.” I stuck out my tongue.

“It’s not funny!” He grumbled.

“Alright, alright. My parents are back in my home country. My home is still there, just that I don’t live there anymore. Ahjumma owns this orphanage. Jace and I did some social work here about two years ago, and then.. It just happened. We kind of live here if we’re not in Kenya.” I explained.

“So… The two kids…” He mumbled.

“What about them?” I asked.

“They live here too?” He asked.

“Yes.” I said.

“They are… Orphans?” He asked.

“No.” I answered.

“Then?” He asked.

“They’re mine. OH FOOD!” I jumped out of my seat to go get food.

After food, I introduced Junhyung to the people there as well as show him around.

“You even have your own room.” He said, looking at my room.

“I do.” I said, gesturing him to sit down.

“Where are the other boys? No schedules for today?” I asked.

“We’re on break today.” He said.

Junhyung’s POV

We chatted like how we usually would, but whenever I asked about the kids, she would change the subject. We were in the midst of talking when we heard lots of yelling and giggling coming from outside. Haneul looked at her watch and smiled.

“They’re back!” She jumped up and dragged me out of the room.

“NOONA!!! UNNI!!!” A bunch of kids yelled as they ran towards her.

I stood behind her, frozen.

“My darlings! How was school!?” She asked, squatting down to their level.

They yelled lots of stuff in unison, I couldn’t make out any, I wonder if Haneul could.

“Unni, who is that handsome Oppa behind you?” A girl, about seven years old asked.

“Oh him? Let me introduce. Yong Junhyung.” She pulled me to the front.

“Anneyonghasaeyo. Yong Junhyung imminda.” I said, bowing slightly.

“YONGJUN HYUNG!” One of the boys yelled out.

“Yah! He is your Hyung! How can you yell out his name like this!?” Haneul scolded.

“But Noona, I called him Hyung, didn’t I? Yongjun Hyung.” The boy pouted.

Haneul and I burst into laughter.

“No no. My surname is Yong. My name is Junhyung.” I explained.

“Huh? Then how should I address you? Junhyung Hyung? It’s weird.” He mumbled.

“Just call me Junnie Hyung, Hyung or if you prefer, Junhyung is fine too.” I said.

“Then I’ll just call you Hyung!” He smiled.

“So we can call you Junhyung Oppa?” One of the girls asked.

“Why not?” I smiled.

“Oppa, you’re handsome!” One of the girls said, covering her face.

“Gosh, if my darlings turn into fan girls and fan boys and neglect their studies, I’ll kill you.” Haneul whispered.

“Yong Junhyung sounds familiar. OH!! BEAST!!!” One of the older girls pointed at me.

“What did I say about manners!?” Haneul scolded.

“Sorry, sorry. OMO!!! I KNOW YOU!!!” The girl squealed.

I didn’t know how to respond, so I just smiled and bowed.

“Ouh wait, where’s Ji Eun and Tae Hyun?” Haneul asked.

Who are they?

“They were with Jace Oppa.” One of the girl said.

“So where is Jace Oppa?” Haneul asked.

“I… Don’t know.” She answered.

“Hahahaha. It’s alright, I’ll look for them. Okay, kids! Go wash up and come back here for snacks later! Ahjumma prepared a lot today!” Haneul said.

The kids cheered and suddenly all disappeared.

“Don’t look so stunned.” Haneul punched my arm lightly.

“Huh what? Haa~ Oh.. Who is Ji Eun and Tae Hyun?” I asked.

“My babies.” She smiled.

Before I could ask further, two familiar voices yelled in unison.

“UMMA!!!!!!!!!!” They yelled.

We both turned around to see two kids running towards us, with Jace strolling behind.

“Aigoo I miss you two!!!” Haneul ran towards them, letting them crash into her embrace.

“How is school?” She asked, kissing them on their cheek.

Jace looked at me and nodded in acknowledgement with a slightly smile.

“Umma! Who is that?” The boy around 5 years old, I assume would be Tae Hyun, asked.

“Oh. He is…” Haneul was about to answer when the girl broke free from her embrace.

“EVIL AHJUSSHI!!!” She stomped towards me, pushing me backwards.

Although her little hands didn’t have the strength to make me fall, but her words and expression were hurting enough to make my heart ache.

“GO AWAY!!!!” She yelled into my face.

“I….” I couldn’t say anything.

She suddenly grabbed my wrist and bit me really hard.

What did I do for this little girl to have such strong hatred towards me?

Chapter 208: Finally! I've read everything. It was ultimately satisfying. No regrets reading it for a long time even though I stopped at the very last chapters but I managed to finished it. I love everything in this story. The plot, the characters and so on. Their quirkiness and childishness always make me smiles and laughs most of the time. It makes my day at how ridiculous the characters are. However, it never fails to teach me the lessons of life and how important are the families including non-blood relation. It makes to appreciate yet enjoy the content as well. Yes, I agree with you that the ending was already perfect as it was. :D Despite the chapters are unbearably long, it was entertaining and well done. Love your story! ♥
