Junhyung’s POV

I was supposed to meet Haneul at the bookstore at 7PM to pick her up for dinner but I was held up at work. It was already 10PM now and she isn’t answering her phone. It was supposedly our first date and I was late. I am so screwed. I rushed to the bookstore and was relieved to find it open.

“Welc… Get out.” Haneul said the moment she saw me.

“Sorry! I was held up at work! I’m so sorry! Please forgive me!” I begged.

“Get out!” She repeated.

“Please! It’s cold outside!” I pouted.

“I remember someone said that he would eat dinner with me every day if company is all I need. And I clearly remembered we were supposed to meet at 7PM. What time is it now? 10PM!” She frowned.

“I’m sorry. I was really held up at work.” I said.

“First date and you made me wait!” She pouted.

I kept quiet, looking down, not daring to say anything. There was silence between us until my stomach started growling. I heard her laugh and I looked up embarrass.

“WHO SAID YOU CAN RAISE YOUR HEAD!? She shouted.

I quickly looked down.

“I’m really sorry.” I mumbled.

My stomach started growling again. I hadn’t eaten since morning. I was hungry to the point I didn’t feel anything at all. I slapped my stomach for making such embarrassing noises. She started laughing harder, causing me to laugh as well.

“Let’s go fill your stomach up with food.” She said.

“Are you still angry?” I asked.

“OF COURSE!” She shouted.

“But that doesn’t mean I should starve you.” She said, taking her bag.

“My girlfriend is so sweet!” I said, hugging her arm.

She elbowed my stomach lightly.

“So, what are we eating?” I asked.

“I don’t know. What do you feel like eating?” She asked.

“No idea. Don’t really feel like eating thou.” I said, looking around.

She slapped my arm and glared at me.

“What did I do?” I pouted.

“Your stomach was protesting and you say you don’t feel like eating!?” She scolded.

“But I’m not lying.” I said.

“It’s bad for your stomach okay.” She said.

“Aww~ Are you concerned?” I said.

She rolled her eyes and looked away.

“Come on. Tell me! You’re concerned, right?” I asked.

“NO! Don’t eat for all I care!” She said.

“You’re so mean.” I said.

“I never said I was nice.” She said.

We entered a small eating house and settled down.

“So what do you want?” I asked.

“Kimchi Fried Rice.You?” She said, looking at the menu.

“Kimbap.” I said, flipping the menu.

She kicked my leg and glared at me.

“Okay okay. And ramen too.” I said.

“That’s better.” She said.

“You’re concerned, why wouldn’t you just say it.” I said.

“Just go and order. And, I want my sunny side up sunny.” She said.

“What sunny side up sunny?” I asked.

“I want the egg yolk uncooked. If it’s cooked, you’ll go in and cook me one.” She said.

“Why not I just go and cook now?” I said.

“Just go and order will you!?” She laughed.

When I came back, I saw her pouring water for the both of us

“I think it’s going to be quite fast since there isn’t anyone.” I said, sitting down.

“Mmm okay.” She said.

She started cleaning the spoons and chopsticks before putting them on a tissue in front of me.

“Thank you.” I said.

She just smiled and continued doing it for herself.

While waiting, Beast’s On Rainy Days played in the shop. We both laughed awkwardly at the song. I was feeling embarrassed actually. Of all songs, why does it have to be ours on my first date with her?

“Do you like this song?” I asked.

“Honestly, this is my favourite song in the whole album.” She said.

“You mean you heard our album?” I asked.

“I’m not a boring person.” She said.

When my rap came on, she suddenly coughed and imitated the way I rapped. I couldn’t stop laughing at her sudden action.

“Oh my gosh what am I doing?” She mumbled, covering her face.

“Very cute.” I said, pinching her cheeks.

“Why did you have to cough before you rap?” She asked.

“I don’t know, its part of the song.” I said.

She kept imitating my cough.

“Yah! I didn’t sound like I was dying!” I said when she coughed too much.

“30 years down the road you’ll sound like this.” She said, imitating the grandfather kind of coughing.

“Stop it!” I laughed.

Of course she would not stop. She kept imitating my cough until the food came.

“Cough later! Eat first!” I poked her cheek.

She coughed again and started laughing.

“Really! Eat!” I shoved a piece of kimbap into .

We started eating. She poked the egg yolk a little and smiled happily when she realized it was just the way she liked it. How cute.

“Mmmm!! MAS-SIDDA (Delicious)” She squealed happily after eating a scoop of rice.

I was kind of taken aback by her action. I never expected her to react so cutely.

“Ahhh~” She said, putting a spoonful of rice at my mouth.

I smiled and opened my mouth.

“It’s good, right!?” She said, even before I started chewing.

But I nodded anyway.

“Liar! You haven’t even chewed.” She laughed.

What kind of girl is this!?

Halfway through the meal, she took out the Donald Duck from her bag and let it sit at the side. I choked on my noodles at the sight of it.

“Are you okay!?” She laughed, patting my back.

“Why did you take it out now!?” I said, looking at the duckie that now looks like me.

“Shouldn’t you show a little more enthusiasm in meeting your fan instead of asking why I take it out now?” She said.

“How enthusiastic can I get?” I said, trying to take off the mask but she stopped me.

“You’re the only celebrity in the whole world who has a duck as a fan! And it’s not just any Tom, or Harry duck! It’s DONALD Duck you know!” She said seriously.

“WOW! That’s amazing!” I said.

“Yea! It is. Nah, hold him.” She said, handing me the duck before she continued to eat.

“He should be starving. Feed him. He’ll be very happy.” She said.

“AGHHH!!!” I pulled her ears.

She pinched my cheeks and pouted.

“Let go!” She said.

“NO! Not until you stop teasing me!” I said.

“Let go!!” She frowned.

“NO!!” I tickled her ears and she jumped in surprise.

“Don’t do that!” She shouted as her ears turn red.

Now I know her weakness.

“Stop teasing me!” I said.

“I didn’t!” She pouted, pinching my cheeks harder.

She started pulling my cheeks like rubber band.

“You did!” I said with much difficulty.

“We’ll let go together on the count of three!” She said.

“Okay! 1, 2, 3!” I counted, but we both didn’t let go.

“LIAR!” We shouted at each other.

“I hate you.” She said, letting go of my cheeks.

She pushed my hands away and shoved food into until her cheeks were puffed.

“Sorry.” I poked her arm.

“HMPH!” She pouted.

“Okay! I’ll feed the duck!” I said.

“I don’t care!” She said.

“He wouldn’t eat!” I said, putting the noodles at the duck’s mouth.

She tried to suppress her smile but failed.

“Don’t be an idiot and just eat.” She mumbled.

“How can I eat when you’re angry?” I said.

She squashed my cheeks with her palms and flicked me on my forehead.

“Oww..” I whined.

“Eat!” She commanded.

“YES MDM!” I said, shoving the noodles into my mouth.

After food, we held hands and strolled back to the bookstore.

“How did you come up with such an idea?” I said, looking at Junnie Duck.

“I didn’t. I told you he is your fan.” She said, pinching the nose.

“Right, right. Fan.” I said.

“Sorry for turning our dinner into supper.” I said.

“I guess I have to get used to it.” She smiled.

“Don’t say such things!” I said.

“Isn’t it true?” She said.

“You always make me feel bad!” I said.

“That’s like my new hobby!” She smiled.

“Very bad!” I pouted.

“Very bad. Very bad. Very, very bad. Tsk tsk tsk~” She shook her head and wiggled her finger.

I kissed her on her cheek and put my arm over her shoulder, pulling her closer to me.

“I promise I’ll be early tomorrow.” I said.

“I don’t trust you anymore.” She said.

“You trust me, I know.” I said.

“Oh my god. You’re hearing things.” She said.

“Why are you so cute?” I asked.

“Because I’m Haneul.” She said, smiling widely.

Right, because she is Haneul.
