Preparation

I'm Different

Haneul’s POV

We have finally started going into solid wedding preparation. All those advertisements on how preparing for a wedding as a couple would be so blissful and happy is all a lie. Preparing for a wedding, especially one that is of such huge scale, it is like a headache that only seems to get worse and it is made worse with Junhyung’s endless naggings. I know he is trying and it is partly my fault that I am such a slack worker. But I still get things done. Then again, I know it is not all about me anymore. I still have a lot to learn.

“Lionny, have you called to the shop and ask them when will the wedding photos be ready?” Junhyung asked as he walked into the room, poking on his phone.

“What shop?” I looked at him.

“The photo shop?” He looked at me.

“Oh.” I smiled.

“Never mind.” He mumbled.

“I’m sorry! I’ll call them now!” I said.

He looked at me. I could not understand his expression.

“What?” I asked.

“We’ve used up one month out of the three, and all we got done was the wedding photos.” He said.

“Uh huh. So?” I asked.

“SO!? SO!? You said SO!? Haneul, the wedding is in two months! SO!?” He raised his voice.

“You’re tired. You need to chill, alright?” I said.

“I’m tired, I’m stressed out, I’m pissed off! And you’re not helping!” He shouted.

“I beg your pardon?” I asked.

“I reminded you five times this morning to call! And what have you been doing all day!?” He yelled.

“While you’re at work, I’m working too, excuse me.” I said.

“While I work, I think of the wedding too!” He shouted.

“Are you implying that I’m not bothered enough?” I asked.

“Well, your actions tell.” He said.

I sighed and looked away.

“Just because I do things slowly does not mean I am not doing it at all. Come on, we have two months. Why can’t you just chill and we will get it done together? I don’t understand what are you stressing about, seriously!” I said.

“We have not found anything for the catering, for the event, for the reception, no hotel, no venue, no church, no nothing! We have nothing! Except the wedding photos!” He yelled.

“Could you please calm down, for goodness sake! You’re stressing yourself out for nothing! You have carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero tattooed on your arm but you're not looking at it at all! You're doing a great job on carpe diem, but you're forgetting quam minimum credula postero! Stop thinking we don't have enough time! We do! Quit worrying for heaven's sake!” I yelled back.

“Do you really want to get married?” He asked.

“What?” I looked at him.

“Sometimes I wonder if you’re getting married with me or with that laptop of yours.” He pointed.

I turned to my laptop screen, and back to him. It was my half-written article on screen.

“Hey, take that back, seriously.” I said.

“Why should I?” He looked at me.

“You’re indirectly insulting my job. Take that freaking sentence back!” I said.

He did not say anything, except stare back at me.

“Just because my job doesn’t pay as much as yours doesn’t give you the right to insult.” I said, looking down.

“I’m not insulting you. I’m just hoping you would put more effort into our wedding.” He said.

“How do you know I am not putting in the effort? Yes, I may not be as fast as you are, but that doesn’t mean I am not working. I mean, can’t we just chill?” I asked.

“Chill, chill, chill! That’s all you know how to do in life!” He yelled.

“Now you’re insulting me. Great!” I said.

I unplugged my laptop and grabbed my stuff.

“Where are you going!?” He yelled, grabbing my arm.

“To get married with my laptop! Idiot nagger!” I kicked his shin, pushing him onto the bed before stomping out of the room.

“YAH!!!!!” I heard him yell, but I couldn’t be bothered.

I slammed my laptop onto the coffee table, throwing myself onto the sofa.

“Your daddy is a big !” I grumbled, caressing my baby bump.

“But mummy is at fault too, right?” I continued.

“But he needs to chill! He needs to relax! He looks so terrible! He is getting worried for nothing!” I said.

“Maybe I need to change myself… He works and is tired but comes back to see nothing done, of course he gets angry. It’s our wedding, not mine alone.” I mumbled.

I saved my article and closed the page.

Junhyung’s POV

I lied on the bed, massaging my shin. The strength Haneul used to kick me is like both hers and our baby add together. It hurts so much.

“Is it Daddy’s fault? Am I nagging too much? Am I rushing stuff?” I asked, hand caressing my stomach.

I could have been caressing her belly if not because I angered her. Now I could only caress my own, pretending our baby can hear me.

“Daddy didn’t mean to say those mean words. What if she calls off the wedding with me and go marry her laptop? Then you would be calling the laptop daddy and it’ll not answer you. You don’t want that, right? Neither do I.” I mumbled.

***

I woke up with a queasy feeling in my stomach. I sat up, hitting my chest lightly in hope to feel better, but it did not work. The next thing I know, I was running to the toilet, puking out all the contents in my stomach.

“ARE YOU OKAY!?” The toilet door burst open, revealing a worried looking Haneul.

I looked up, wanting to tell her I was okay, but I started vomiting again. She pat my back and handed me water to rinse my mouth after I was done.

“Agh what the hell is wrong?” I mumbled, holding onto my upset stomach.

“It’s normal.” She said, helping me to the bed.

“What’s normal?” I asked, lying down on the bed.

“Vomiting. The doctor said it’s normal.” She said, pushing my fringe out of my face.

“What doctor? When did I see a doctor?” I asked, confused.

She just laughed.

“What’s going on?” I asked.

“I see you’re still angry over just now, aren’t you? Alright, alright. I’m sorry. I’ll do all the preparations from now on, okay? You’ll just lie here and rest.” She said, patting my stomach lightly.

“Why?” I asked.

“Because you need it.” She said, tucking me into bed.

“Why do I need it? What are you saying?” I asked.

“You’re not allowed to be dancing around, have you forgotten? Just because your tummy is still flat doesn’t mean there’s nothing inside, silly.” She said.

“What is inside?” I asked.

“Yah, Yong Junroro. It’s not funny anymore, huh.” She pouted.

“No. I’m serious! What’s going on?” I asked.

“Our baby, Junroro.” She sighed, caressing my belly.

“What has our baby got to do with me dancing?” I asked.

“How can you still be dancing when you’re carrying our baby? What if you slipped and fall? Or even if you don’t, our baby can’t take it if you break dance around.” She said.

“Are you acting stupid or what?” She frowned.

“I should be asking you this. What are you saying? Why am I carrying our baby? How is it possible? It is you who is pregnant.” I said.

“No, it is you. I know it’s difficult to accept it for now, but we’re in this together, okay?”She said.

“Wait, wait, wait! What are you saying!?” I sat up, looking at her.

“What am I saying?” She asked.

“You said I’m pregnant? You know it’s not possible. How could this be? And, come on, it is you who is pregnant. Are you delusional? I’m sorry I shouldn’t have rushed you through the wedding.” I said hurriedly.

“Junroro, look at me.” She said, grabbing my cheeks.

I stared into her eyes.

“I’m not pregnant.” She said.

My eyes widened.

“It is you. You’re carrying our baby, not me.” She continued.

My eyes widened even more, so did my jaw dropped.

“We saw the doctor, remember?” She said.

I shook my head.

“We did. He said that although it’s weird, he isn’t surprised. You have a period, after all.” She said.

“It’s not possible. I can’t. I can’t get pregnant. What sort of sick joke is this?!” I asked no one in particular.

She pulled me into a tight hug.

“I know it’s difficult on you. I know it’s going to be more painful and uncomfortable. But you’re not alone, Junroro. You have me, you have Beast, MBLAQ, Tae Hyun, Ji Eun, Ahjumma, Jace, my parents and yours. And our baby. We’re all here for you.” She said.

“No no no no no~ This can’t be happening.” I mumbled.

“Junroro~ Shhh~” She rubbed my back.

I pulled away from her, looking at her.

“Tell me you’re joking, Lionny. It’s not funny. Please.” I pleaded.

She looked at me with sad eyes.

“Junroro.” She called out softly, putting her hand on my stomach.

“What are you doing?” I asked.

She took my hand and pressed it against my own stomach.

“Can you feel it?” She asked.

“Feel what?” I asked.

“Our baby, of course. Our baby is here for you. He or she will be very proud of you.” She said.

I looked at her.

Indeed, my stomach felt different. Am I… really pregnant? But.. how? But... What's going on? What exactly is real and what is not?

Chapter 208: Finally! I've read everything. It was ultimately satisfying. No regrets reading it for a long time even though I stopped at the very last chapters but I managed to finished it. I love everything in this story. The plot, the characters and so on. Their quirkiness and childishness always make me smiles and laughs most of the time. It makes my day at how ridiculous the characters are. However, it never fails to teach me the lessons of life and how important are the families including non-blood relation. It makes to appreciate yet enjoy the content as well. Yes, I agree with you that the ending was already perfect as it was. :D Despite the chapters are unbearably long, it was entertaining and well done. Love your story! ♥
