Merry Christmas; Just the two of us
I'm DifferentJunhyung’s POV
“Eh? Where are we going?” Haneul asked, looking out of the window.
“To celebrate our Christmas.” I said.
“What?” She asked.
“Wait here.” I said, parking the car at the side.
“YAH!!” She shouted as I got off the car.
I came back in awhile and she frowned at me.
“What is it?” She asked looking at the bags I came back with.
I pinched her cheek lightly and continued to drive. I stopped the car at an empty highway and got out. I opened the door for her and pulled her out.
“Are you going to sell me away!?” She made a pitiful face at me.
“Crazy!” I laughed.
I put the bags of stuff up onto the roof and climbed up.
“What are you doing!?” She yelled when I climbed up the car.
I got up the roof and stretched out my hand to help her up.
“Is this okay!?” She asked.
“Come on!” I said, tugging onto her arm.
We were both sitting on the roof of the car with our legs dangling down.
“Cold?” I asked her.
I wrapped a blanket over her and pulled her close to me.
“Merry Christmas.” I said.
“What are we doing here?” She asked.
“Just to spend time together. Why? You don’t wish to?” I said.
“No. Just that.. What a weird place.” She laughed.
“It’s not weird.” I said.
I opened up the box, revealing a log cake.
“What!?” She laughed.
“I’m hungry, aren’t you?” I asked.
She nodded.
“We have a fork.” I said as she dipped her finger into the cream.
“I know, but I don’t want to scratch your face.” She said.
“What?” I asked.
She smeared the cream onto my nose.
“You started it.” I said, dipping my finger into the cream as well.
We spend the next ten minutes smearing each other’s faces with cream.
“We’re never going to eat like this!” I said, dodging her hand.
“Then stay still and let me win!” She yelled.
“No~!!!” I whined.
“Then too bad!!” She said, grabbing my hand.
I grabbed hers and the cream off her fingers.
She froze and stared at me disgustingly.
“I win.” I said with a smirk.
“EWW!!!!” She yelled, staring at her fingers.
“Sorry.” I said.
“Accepted.” She smiled, wiping cream onto my cheek.
“Okay okay! Let’s eat, shall we?” I said.
We both looked at the cream-less log cake and started laughing. We ate the cake with our knife since we were both too lazy to go down to the car to actually get the forks.
“Ahhhh~” She said, holding up a piece of cake.
I opened my mouth, waiting for her to feed me but it didn’t come. She ate it herself instead. I pouted at her but she kept laughing.
“Pabo!” She laughed.
“So mean!” I said, shoving more cake into my mouth.
“You’re going to choke!” She laughed, stopping me from putting more cake into my mouth.
“Aigoo!! So cute!!” She pinched my already puffed cheeks.
After eating, we both played with the Santa and Rudolf plastic figurines.
“Go away!” She used the Rudolf to kick my Santa.
“What!?” I used my Santa to knock her Rudolf over.
“Why do I always have to carry you and your sledge?!” Her Rudolf ‘turned its back’ against my Santa.
“Because you’re the reindeer?” I said, my Santa head butting her Rudolf’s .
“ERT!” She yelled, turning her Rudolf over.
“Are you going to work or not!?” I yelled, making my Santa go really close to her Rudolf.
“No!” She made her Rudolf move a few steps away.
“Okay then, you’ll have no pay to buy medicine for your flu.” I said, making my Santa ‘walk’ away.
“Ah no!! Master! I’ll work!” She made her Rudolf ‘run’ back.
“Good! Then what are you waiting for!?” I yelled.
“Christmas? Duh~” She said.
We both ended up laughing.
“That was lame.” She said, still laughing.
“What a rebellious Rudolf.” I laughed.
“What a bad tempered Santa.” She said.
We started laughing again.
When we finally calmed down, we both sighed in unison. We looked at each other and laughed.
“Stop laughing.” She said, hitting me lightly.
“You laughed first!” I said, pulling her to lie down.
“How do you know it’s me?” She asked.
“I just know.” I smiled.
We stared up at the sky. We were both really sleepy and on the verge of falling asleep until we felt something wet touch our skin. We opened our eyes to see what it was? It was snowing.
“It’s snowing.” She said.
I nodded, smiling as I admire the snow fall from the sky.
“IT’S SNOWING!!!!” She yelled, jumping off the car.
“Yah!! Becareful!!!” Her action shocked me.
I jumped off the car and held onto her.
“Don’t ever do that again!” I said.
She nodded and ran around like a kid, opening to ‘eat’ snow.
“It’s not very clean, you know.” I said.
“But it’s very fun, you know.” She said.
We both ended up trying to ‘eat’ snow. It snowed heavily; therefore the ground was quickly covered in snow. We had a snow fight and even built a small snowman on the roof of the car.
Haneul’s POV
I used to like the snow, but I stopped liking it after it started reminding me of the times my family and I shared. But for some odd reason, tonight, when the snow fell, the feeling came back to me again. I think it was because of Junhyung. Or rather, I am certain it was because of Junhyung.
“Go find a twig for its hands!” I shouted as I made the snowman.
“Jun?” I called out when he didn’t reply.
I looked around and saw that Junhyung wasn’t around.
“Junhyung ah~” I called out.
“Merry Christmas!” He shouted, jumping out from behind.
I got a shock and flattened the snowman by accident.
“YOU KILLED HIM!!!” He pouted, pointing to the pile of snow where the snowman once stood.
“SNOWMAN!!!” I shouted, looking at what I have done.
“Never mind, we’ll make one again later.” He smiled.
“Snowman~” I whined.
“Shhh!! Mourn its death later. Come here!” He said, pulling me along.
He made me sit down in the passenger seat.
“Merry Christmas.” He said, handing me a box.
“What??” I said, looking at the box, and then him.
“I hope you like it.” He said, pecking me on my forehead.
“I thought you got me the bag already.” I said, looking at him.
“That’s from the boys. This is from me.” He said.
I smiled, touching the wrapper.
“Open it.” He said.
I tore off the wrapper carefully and opened the box. It was a pair of Converse Sequined High Cut. I would never buy such bling stuff because I never thought I would look good in it but this one was simply beautiful.
“Wah~” That was all I could say.
“Like it?” He asked.
I nodded, admiring the sequins.
He took the shoe from me and removed the one I was wearing.
“What are you doing!?” I asked.
“Putting it on for you, can’t you tell?” He said.
“I can do it myself.” I said.
He just smiled and continued what he was doing. The shoe was a perfect fit and it surprisingly looks good.
“Thank you.” I said.
He stuck out his cheek, asking for a kiss. I kissed him on both sides of his cheek.
“How did you know my size?” I asked.
“I just asked for the biggest.” He said.
“Yah!” I pushed him a little.
“Kidding~ Of course I know! I have my ways.” He winked at me.
We continued to play awhile more in the snow before leaving.
“Are you sure they wouldn’t fly away?” I asked.
“Have you seen a flying snowman?” He laughed.
We built a few snowmen on the top of roof and we were too reluctant to clean it off when we had to leave. So he suggested just leaving it on the roof. He drove at a really slow speed to prevent the snowmen from ‘disfiguring’.
When we finally got to my place, the snowmen were surprisingly still standing, except that one of it lost its nose.
“Oh my god! It can’t breathe!” Junhyung yelled as he went off to search for something to replace its nose.
“Make do with this.” He said, pushing a small rock into its face.
“Gosh! Now the nose is too big! It looks like it has a rock stuck in its face!” I laughed.
“Silly? It does have a rock stuck in its face.” He said.
We started laughing, again. I guess we were both too tired already.
“Merry Christmas.” He said, hugging me.
“Want to come up?” I said.
“Huh?” He looked at me.
I pointed to my block.
“Isn’t it too late? Your parents…” He mumbled.
“They are never home.” I said, looking away.
He kissed me on my cheek.
“So?” I asked.
“Why not?” He smiled.
“WAH!” He exclaimed when he stepped into my house.
“What is there to ‘wah’ about?” I said, throwing the keys onto the table.
I dragged him to my room.
“WAH!!” He exclaimed again.
“Shut up.” I laughed.
“I’ll take a quick shower, okay?” I said.
He nodded and sat on the couch.
Junhyung’s POV
I looked at her room while she showered. It was just.. White~ Everything was white, yet it wasn’t too blinding, neither does it look like a mental institution. It was a classy type of white. It spells Haneul. She had glow in the dark stars dangling from the ceiling, her soft toys sat all around her room.
She also had Christmas lighting all over the corners of her room. Her bookshelf overflowed with books, but that wasn’t all, her table, bed and floor had books too. Overall, her room had a really cozy feeling, but at the same time, it felt lonely, I don’t know why. Actually, her entire house, despite looking really posh, it gives off a really lonely feeling.
“JUN!!!” She yelled.
“Yes!?” I shouted back.
“Could you get me a towel? It’s in my wardrobe!” She yelled.
“Okay~” I said.
I opened her wardrobe and the clothes fell out.
“Oh my god.” I mumbled.
She obviously doesn’t pack her stuff. She just chucks them all in without even looking. I tried to look for her towel but I couldn’t find any.
“What towel!? Where!?” I yelled, digging through her pile of clothes.
“Yah yah~ You’re touching my bra.” I heard her say.
I turned back and saw her clothed already, drying her hair with the towel.
“You prank me again!?” I yelled.
She shook her head.
“Dig further, just avoid my undergarments.” She winked.
My hands found its way to a box.
“Oh~ That’s fast.” She smiled, sitting on her bed, towel drying her hair.
I pulled out the box. It was really big. It was wrapped in magazine paper and my name was written really hugely on all sides.
“Merry Christmas!” She smiled.
“For me!?” I asked in surprise.
“Is there another Yong Junhyung?” She asked.
“Wah~” I said, looking at the box.
“Ever since you stepped in, all you said was ‘wah’.” She said.
“Open it.” She said.
I nodded and tore off the wrapper.
“Oh my god!” I yelled.
“Like it?” She asked.
“How did you know I wanted something like this?” I asked.
It was a Yamaha TSX-120 docking station.
“I’m psychic.” She said.
“It’s really expensive!” I said.
She shrugged her shoulders and fell back onto her bed.
I went to sit beside her, playing with her hair.
“Thank you.” I said.
She pulled me down by my collar and gave me a kiss.
I held her in my arms as we both lied on the bed.
“Sleepy?” I asked.
She nodded with her eyes half closed.
“Sleep then.” I said.
“Stay with me.” She mumbled.
“Huh?” I froze at her request.
“Please.” She snuggled her face into my chest.
“What if your parents come back?” I said.
“They never come back.” She mumbled, emphasizing the ‘never’.
I kissed the top of her head and pulled her closer to me.
“Please.” She pleaded, sounding almost like crying.
“Okay.” I said.
“Thank you.” She wrapped her arms over my waist, hugging me tight.
Although I was really afraid her parents would suddenly return, I didn’t want to leave her alone. I didn’t want her to feel lonely. Now I guess I can understand why she chooses to work overnight at the bookstore. The atmosphere in her home really felt lonely. She is always alone, if it was me, I would never want to come back too.
“Darling.” I called out.
“Hmm?” She replied.
“If you ever need company, any time, call me and I’ll come.” I said.
She nodded and mumbled something that sounded like ‘Thank you’. She fell asleep in awhile. This is the first time she actually fell asleep in my arms, usually I was the one sleeping on her lap. It felt good to actually just be cuddling like this.
