Calming you
I'm DifferentJunhyung’s POV
“Hey, tonight after you guys washed up, come to my hut, alright?” Haneul said.
“You guys? As in? All six of us?” I asked.
“Yea.” She smiled.
“Aww~ Why not just me?” I pouted.
She slapped my chest and walked away.
“I’ll go there earlier!” I yelled.
“No!” She shouted back, and although her back was facing me, I could sense her smiling.
“Haneul told us to go to her hut later after we wash up.” I said as I stepped into our hut.
“For what?” Dongwoon asked, playing around with the cushion.
“I don’t know. Gosh! Look at this place!? It’s like a pig’s sty!!! Please!! Can’t you guys just put the stuff you touch back into place!? Or else don’t touch them at all!” I said, organizing the mattress and cushions.
These boys are worse than kids. I’ve been keeping quiet but they take me like their maid. I clean and they dump. Totally not embarrassed with their actions at all. In the dorm I have to clean, even here in Kenya I have to clean!?
“Hyung, stop nagging~” Kikwang mumbled as he threw a sweet wrapper into the bin but missed.
“WHY ARE YOU SO LAZY!? DON’T YOU HAVE LEGS!? IT’S JUST A FEW STEPS AWAY!” I yelled.
“I was practicing my basketball skills.” He reasoned.
“VERY LOUSY SKILLS INDEED!” I yelled.
“That’s why I need to practice.” He mumbled.
“WHAT!?” I stared at him.
“Is something wrong?” A voice said.
We turned to the door and saw Haneul looking at us worriedly.
“HANEUL AH! YOU’RE HERE! It’s just Junnie hyung, he’s being annoying.” Kikwang said.
“I AM BEING ANNOYING!? REALLY!? I CLEAN AND CLEAN AND CLEAN TO GIVE YOU GUYS A BETTER PLACE TO STAY IN! I AM ANNOYING!? ARE YOU SURE IT’S NOT YOU THAT IS BEING ANNOYING HUH?!” I yelled.
“Then don’t do it! No one asked you to!” Kikwang said.
“What?” I asked, feeling my blood boil.
“What… Is wrong?” She asked, looking a bit scared.
“Junnie hyung is being annoyed at the fact we are messy and then Kiki hyung threw his sweet wrapper basketball style into the bin but missed. That’s why Junnie hyung is angry.” Dongwoon explained.
“Ouh~” Haneul said.
“Am I the annoying one!?” I asked, a little too loudly.
She shook her head and smiled.
“But you’re being too loud.” She said.
I kept quiet, feeling really pissed off.
“Come with me.” She said, tugging onto my arm.
“I have to clean this place up!” I frowned.
“Dongwoonie, Kikwangie, please do your part in keeping the place clean.” Haneul said.
The both of them pouted.
“Come~” She said, tugging onto my arm.
“I’ll see you guys in my hut in an hour’s time alright.” She dragged me out.
“Where are we going!?” I tried to stop walking but she yanked my hand forward.
She dragged me to the back of the compound.
“What are we doing here!?” I asked.
“Sit here.” She said, pulling me to sit down on a huge rock.
I dangled my legs down and looked out. Up here, the sky looks like they are reachable.
“Wait for me.” She said, running off.
“YAH!!” I yelled after her, but she ran off.
I sat down and sighed. The sound of the wind howling calmly is quite pleasant. I felt much calmer than before.
“Feeling better, right?” She asked, appearing behind me suddenly.
I nodded slightly.
“Ayee~ So unconvincing.” She pouted.
“Feeling really good.” I smiled.
“So you don’t need this?” She asked, holding up a can of Coke.
“I NEED!!” I tried to snatch it from her but she moved away quickly.
She shook her head.
“Why?!” I whined.
“Promise me something first then.” She said.
“Why do you always want something in return?” I asked.
“Don’t we all want the same?” I asked.
I looked down and stared at my fingers.
“Going to promise me or not?” She asked.
“What?” I asked.
“Stop being so grumpy. Even if the boys piss you off, don’t yell at them. Don’t make them feel bad, at least not here.” She said.
“But it’s not me that wants to act like this! Just look at how they treat me!” I protested.
“Stop raising your voice also. Whenever you feel upset, you can grumble, but don’t yell. Your voice amplifies you know? These aren’t soundproof huts.” She said.
“I know you cannot help but feel frustrated at times. We all do, don’t we? If you’re angry, then what help calms you?” She asked.
“You.” I said.
“Apart from me!” She rolled her eyes.
“I don’t know.” I said.
“Come to me and ask for Coke then. But promise me after you finish it you’ll be okay.” She said.
I looked at her. If it was someone else, I would have yell at them for treating me like a kid, but for some odd reason, she manages to make me feel better.
“So?” She asked.
I nodded.
She smiled and handed me the can of Coke.
“Why do you treat me like a toddler?” I asked.
“Because you are.” She smiled, sipping her can of Coke as well.
“I’m not.” I said.
“Yes, you are.” She laughed.
We continued bickering until we finished our drink. We sat for awhile more before heading to her hut. The boys were already outside.
“Sorry, Hyung!” Kikwang ran towards me, hugging me tight.
“I’m sorry.” He apologized.
“It’s fine.” I said, patting his head.
We went into her hut and settled down.
“We’re going home this weekend, aren’t we?” She said, smiling.
“I’ll miss this place!” Yoseob said.
“Yea~” We all mumbled.
“Because of you guys, the school is almost done. We estimated the date of completion to be at the end of the year, but seeing the progress now, I think we can be done in two months.” She said.
We cheered and clapped like school children.
“The biggest effort goes to all of you… So I was thinking…” She said, looking at all of us.
“What?” Doojoon asked.
“You guys deserve a rewarding break.” She said.
We cheered even louder.
“Hahahaha~ So if you all would please go and pack your bags….” She said but was cut off my Yoseob.
“WHY!? ARE YOU SENDING US BACK TO KOREA!? NO!!!” Yoseob shouted.
“Crazy.” She laughed.
“Pack enough for two, three days? We’re going on a little trip to sightsee Kenya. You’ll have the luxury you all deserve.” She smiled.
“REALLY!?” Kikwang asked, eyes wide open.
“Yeap! So if you guys would please pack! We’ll leave first thing tomorrow morning, okay!?” She asked.
“YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!” We cheered.
The boys started throwing themselves onto her, hugging her.
“YAH!!!!” I tried to prey them off but they ignored me.
“YOU CAN HUG HER FOR THE WHOLE NIGHT!” Hyunseung teased me.
I wish I can. I really wish I can.
We ate tidbits and chatted a lot before going back to our hut to pack.
“Is this part of the voluntary pecks?” I asked before leaving.
“What do you think?” She asked.
“No. Why are you doing this? Aren’t you afraid of what others might say?” I asked.
“Afraid? When have I ever cared?” She said.
“True.” I laughed.
“YAH!” She pushed me slightly.
“Do I get a hug? I didn’t get to hug you just now.” I said.
She looked at me, a little surprised.
“It’s alright. Just kidding.” I smiled.
She pulled me into her arms and hugged me tight.
“Good night.” She said.
“Good night.” I replied, patting on her head lightly before going off.
I ran back to our hut and jumped onto my mattress.
“What so happy?” Hyunseung asked.
I shook my head, but couldn’t stop grinning.
“Hahaha~ Gosh..” He slapped my arm.
He wouldn’t understand. They wouldn’t understand. None of them would understand how much I miss her touch.
