Hoku’s POV…

Ever since I had found out the news and my memories had come back, I had found myself lost in the world I had lived in, nothing seemed to matter to me at all, nothing, not even the child inside of me. I had gone days without knowing who I was, treating those that trusted and cared about me like strangers I had never known, it was all Michael’s fault. I had never thought a man I had trusted so much would do such a thing to me. Don’t get me wrong, I was glad the baby was alright, I saw that car coming and did the first thing I thought of, turned my body with my arms protectively around myself. Of course it left my leg mangled but it left me with one thing I couldn’t stand to lose at the time, the child growing inside me.

I didn’t even have the energy to go on with life anymore, Tyra was my best friend and I wasn’t there for her when she needed it the most. She left before I could apologize for hitting her at Youngbae’s wedding, now it would rest to haunt me for the rest of my life. I sighed from my spot on the bed, just staring out the open window to the city lights. Life seemed so empty all of a sudden.

“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!” I screamed suddenly shooting out of my pillows, panting, crying, whimpering as I held my stomach protectively staring into the dark room. The dream, it wasn’t like the rest, it seemed so real and for once I was worried and desperately panicking about the child in my arms. The door shot open followed the lights in the room showing a half asleep, half dressed and worried Jiyong staring at me.

Author’s POV…

Never had Jiyong moved that fast in his life, but hearing a blood curdling scream echo through his apartment, loud enough to wake the neighbors, he shot up as if he had been getting shot at. Running out of his room and across the hall, he didn’t even care if he still had his pants on, he needed to make sure that she was ok. Once he shot the lights on he looked at her panicked to see her staring at him in terror. Quickly his legs carried him over to the bed where he pulled her into his arms, uncaring if she was going to push him away.

“Are you ok?” He asked as she whimpered into his chest, resting her cold hands on his bare chest. She just nodded out of breath continuing to cry quietly. He held her tightly, not wanting to let go as she molded into his chest.

“What happened?” He asked in a whisper drawing circles on his back with the palm of his hand. She sniffled, wiping her tears onto her blanket before looking back to his chest.

“The baby.” She whispered biting her lip to hold the tears as he sighed and nodded, patting her back.

“I…….lost……it.” She whispered through tears as he sighed, leaning his chin to rest on the crown of her head. He had to admit, even that made his heart leap.

“It’s alright, the baby’s alright.” He whispered as she nodded hesitantly before continuing to cry. He would never let something that happened to them, they had gone through too many things in life for something like that to happen. Before long, Jiyong noticed her grip on him grew lighter and her breathing seemed to level out. Sighing content that she had finally relaxed, he pulled away gently before looking down to the woman lying in his lap, breathing softly. He sighed again, reaching down carefully before brushing her hair gently out of her face. Ever since she had gotten her memories back, things still hadn’t gone back to normal. She was different. Carefully, he pulled her up into her pillow before bringing the comforter up to her chin, taking one last look at her stomach before sighing. Standing up from the bed, making his way towards the door, he was stopped by a hand on his wrist. He froze in surprise to see that she was still awake, and now staring up at him through the dimly lit room.

“You need something?” He asked in a whisper walking over to side. He watched as she looked down to her hand around his wrist as it slowly dropped before her fingers intertwined in his. Jiyong’s heart skipped a beat at the site before kneeling down to her level.

“What is it?” He whispered reaching over with his free hand to curl some stray behind her ear. She sniffled finally looking up into his eyes concerned. Hoku felt so bad for putting him through all of this especially when he was the one person that never left her side. Word was already out that he was the father, she couldn’t take it back, but some part of her didn’t want to take it back. She was having an inner battle with herself, she wanted nothing more than to be back in his embrace as he wanted, but then there was a small part that was still a bit hesitant. She bit her lip staring up into the caring eyes of the man kneeling in front of her, the man that had dropped everything to take care of her and the child he had just been told was his, she had missed those eyes so dearly.
Mustering up whatever courage she could she leaned forward connecting her lips to his usually warm and moist ones. Jiyong’s eyes shot open as he felt the familiar warmth on his own lips followed by her scent. Too in shock to move he watched as she pulled away before staring at him.

“I’m sorry.” She whispered as he blinked in confusion, still trying to get his limbs to move with no luck.

“Sorry? For what?” He asked confused as she sighed.

“I’m sorry for not telling you about the baby.” She whispered ashamed as he sighed, reaching over to caress her cheek.
“Hoku-ah, look at me.” He mentioned as she blinked, letting the tears fall down her cheeks before looking up to him.

“Don’t ever apologize to me, alright?” He asked hurt as she continued to stare at him.

“You have nothing to apologize for. If anything it should be me.” He mentioned as she leaned into his embrace.

“I’ll never leave you again. You’re mine.” He whispered leaning forward to kiss her forehead.

“I’ll take care of you and the baby, don’t worry about anything.” He whispered resting his chin on the bed to stare at her.

“I love you Jiyongie.” She whispered causing his heart to ache in remembrance. He smiled finally feeling that familiar warmth spread through his broken heart.

“I love you baby.” He whispered as she smiled, sniffling a bit before he stood up.
“You need to rest, so just call me if anything.” He mentioned as she gripped his arm tighter.

“Stay with me.” She whispered as his eyes widened.

“Are you sure?” He asked turning to her as she nodded in her pillow.
“I don’t want to have that nightmare again.” She whispered scared before he quickly climbed in next to her letting her cuddle up to his chest. Jiyong held her around her shoulder with one arm while the other lay protectively on her stomach.

“I’ll never let anything happen to the both of you.” He whispered into her hair, sniffing her strawberry shampoo before kissing her head.

“I’m sorry I haven’t been myself this week.” She then whispered as he patted her back comforting.

“It’s alright, I understand that you are hurt, so take all the time you need, I’ll be here for you.” He added as she kissed his bare chest before resting her ear over it. This is how it was supposed to be, if the incident with Trang or Michael never happened, where would they be now?
