Chapter 141

The Innocent Story Of SinB

On the next morning again, SinB woke up early. Her two friends were sleeping and she was stuck in the middle of the bed with Sowon on one of her side and Umji on the other. SinB slowly crawled to the end of the bed to get up.

She went to drink some water and was about to go back to bed when she heard some music. She walked to the basement silently and saw the door half open and light . She approached and gave a look inside before seeing her dad beside the music player.

“Morning appa.” she said as she entered and her dad looked at her confused.

“Morning SinB.” he said pointing to the walls around them. “What’s wrong with the walls? I thought the new mirrors would be useful…” he said not understanding.

SinB looked down hesitating. “With the girls we’re working on something and we needed the room like that.” she explained as it was a little true but not the full explanation.

“Oh...” he said still confused. “I wanted to enjoy the dancing room a little since we’re home for some days but I don’t think I will be able to dance if I can’t see myself.

SinB felt bad. “You can take them down, we will hang them again when we need the room…” proposed SinB and her dad nodded.

“You sure, it must have been a lot of work to cover all the walls…” he said looking around again.

SinB giggled. “Sowon is pretty tall so I think we will be okay.” she told him and he smiled.

“Okay, wanna help me my baby girl? So then we can dance together like in the good old time!” he said happily and SInB swallowed hard.

SinB’s body was trembling. She could dance with Umji or Sowon, even in front of Yerin, but still she knew she wasn’t as good as before… She wasn’t still fully comfortable with some moves and with her dad here, and in front of the mirrors it was definitely something she couldn’t do right now.

“Sorry appa but I have school later and I should use one more hour of sleep, have you seen what time is it?” she asked him and turned around. “Enjoy your dance I’m going back to sleep.” she quickly said before he could add something to convince her to stay.

As she closed the door behind her she heard him walking in the room and taking down the curtains. She sighed and walked upstair to her room. She crawled back into her bed and lay on her back thinking.

“Where were you?” whispered Umji as she turned to her and put her arm over SinB’s stomach.

“Appa is in the dancing room, he asked about the curtains.” said SinB in a low voice.

“What did you say?” asked Sowon turning on her back too and turning her head to look at SinB.

“You’re not sleeping?” asked SinB surprised that her two friends were up at this time.

Sowon giggled lightly. “When a pig try to crawl back into bed, I can tell you that you can feel it.” teased Sowon and SinB hit her arm.

“Yah!” whispered SinB frowning. “I’m not a pig!” she defended herself and Umji tried not to laugh out loud.

“So what did you say to your dad?” asked again Sowon.

“That we covered the wall because we needed the room like that to prepare a project…” explained SinB.

Sowon nodded and Umji looked up at SinB. “Well it’s not really a lie, the project is to prepare for the showcase…” she said and SinB nodded.

SinB looked at Umji then at Sowon. “He was confused and needed the room to dance I told him he could take them down for now and that we would cover the walls when we need the room again.” explained SinB and Umji nodded while Sowon frowned.

“That means I will have to work hard again to hang them back since I’m the only one that’s tall enough for that.” complained Sowon and SinB giggled.

“I told my dad it wasn’t a problem since your height is the only useful thing about you!” teased SinB and Sowon was the one to hit her arm this time.

“Yah!” whispered SinB to Sowon who laughed and hide under the blanket.

“Girls calm down and let’s try to sleep some more.” said Umji as she got comfortable against SinB who nodded and they all tried to sleep some more.

A little more than an hour later Umji’s alarm rang but she was so tired that she turned it off and closed her eyes again, then it was Sowon’s phone that ran to wake them up, she took it and turned the alarm off sitting in the bed.

“I’m so tired…” groaned Umji her face into the pillow. “I don’t want to get up…”

Sowon smiled and patted SinB’s . “Wake up.” she told her and SinB moved to hide even more against Umji. “No.” she answered as Sowon slapped her non stop now.

“Wake up!” continued Sowon and SinB tried to slap Sowon’s hands away making Umji laugh at them.

Sowon stopped and SinB’s alarm rang. SinB turned around and took her phone to turn the alarm off too. “I don’t wanna go to school…” complained SinB in a groan.

The door slowly opened and SinB’s mom took a look inside. “Oh, you are all in there?” she asked looking at the three girls in her daughter’s bed.

Umji smiled. “Morning omma.” she said and Sowon bowed her head to her. “We were talking and talking and ended up falling asleep here.” said Umji and SinB’s mother smiled.

“I see, well it’s time to eat breakfast.” she said and the girls nodded.

During breakfast everything went well, they all talked and laughed, just like the previous day during dinner, everything was fine till Sinb’s mom asked her one question.

“So how’s school SinB?” asked her mom as she continued to eat.

SinB froze, it wasn’t that good she didn’t do well for some tests recently and she had very hard time catching up with the lesson she missed or barely listened to while she was in class.

But Sinb could never say that to her mother.

“It’s okay…” she said focusing back immediately on her food. Sowon and Umji were giving her side looks, as much scared as her that SinB’s parents would ask more about this topic.

“Honey of course our baby girl is doing well, it’s probably even easy for her.” said SinB’s dad to his wife before smiling at SinB who faked a smile back to him.

Umji wasn’t sure if she should say something at this moment, she could see how stressed out and scared SinB was. And looking at how SinB studies are going, SinB would have trouble catching up all her grade. Even if she could catch up, for sure her grade wouldn’t be as good as before.

“You know, appa, umma. I feel like public school is harder than private school.” stated Umji lowly which made both of the parents look at Umji shocked. “I’ve been studying with SinB and I took a look at her notes, honestly it’s so different.”

“What are you trying to say?” asked SinB’s mom strictly. Umji was never scared of SinB’s mom like her other friends but, it would be a lie if she didn’t feel intimidated by the woman from time to time. Umji looked straight at SinB’s mom and explained herself.

“People tend to say public school is easier because no one care while private school is harder because they have so much expectation of the kids. But truth to be say, from what I notice is, public school might be harder than private school because in the public school, the teachers doesn’t care as much as their students as in private school. They are on their own.”

SinB’s mom looked at SinB. “SinB, are you having trouble at school? Are the teachers not helping you?” asked her mom, sounding a bit worried.

SinB looked down, she appreciated Umji helping her out, but she was still scared to face her mom.

“Umma, I looked at SinB’s notes and for those class that we have the same subjects, her notes are really not detail compared to what I have.” said Umji.

Then, Sowon decided to speak in. “Actually, it’s true. Some teachers are just there to read their lessons then they leave. They only have a few hours here and there for students to go see them. Once it’s pass their time, they would kick the students out of their office and leave.” explained Sowon sincerely. “They don’t really pay attention to us, they expect us to understand most of the book on our own.”

SinB’s dad nodded. “Well in university you’re supposed to be able to manage yourself, and become an adult so I guess it’s normal…” he said looking at SinB. “Is it too hard for you to manage everything?” he asked her gently and SinB bit her lower lips before looking up at him scared.

“Well it’s different from the private schools I always went to before… not the same support from teachers and not the same way of working… Plus with my part time job... and the chores at home since you aren’t often here… I have to clean and prepare food so I have less time to study…” said SinB looking down now and Umji looked at her. As if it was SinB that was cleaning and cooking in this house.

SinB’s dad patted her back. “Growing up it’s hard, you have to do sacrifices, when I was studying, I had so many things to manage that I was only sleeping 4 hours per nights…” he told her sincerely but SinB’s mom frowned.

“Maybe you are going out too much, if you would see your friends a little less and study more instead, you wouldn’t say cleaning and cooking are in the way of your studies.” she said coldly and all the girls froze.

SinB looked down even more, too scared to meet her mother’s eyes.

“Umma, don’t worry too much. SinB is working hard. We’ve been having lots of study sessions lately to catch up.” explained Umji smiling.

SinB’s mom looked at Umji and nodded. “Thank you Umji. I’m glad you are beside SinB.”

Umji smiled. “Hey! SinB is like my sister you know. When we study together, she actually points out some errors I made when I take down my notes. SinB is a smart girl, I believe in her.” she added looking at SinB.

SinB’s dad laughed. “That’s our daughter right?” he said happily looking at his wife. “Our daughter learn fast. Just give her some time, it’s still in her first year of university, she will catch up.”

“Yeah… uncle, aunty… ” stuttered Sowon, voicing out again earning all their eyes on her.

“People tend to have troubles adjusting themself in the first semester of university. Everyone came from different background, some came from public schools, some came from private schools. Some are normally very studious and some are slackers. That’s what my mom told me, just give us some time, we will learn from our mistakes and grow up. University is just one of our experience path on growing up. And knowing SinB,” smiled Sowon looking at SinB first then back to the adults. “she will do great.” she smiled sincerely earning a soft smile from both of their parents.

SinB’s dad nodded with a proud smile on his face. “Alright girls, it was a nice and intense breakfast! It was great to be able to talk heart to heart with you all and I’m glad my daughter have you girls as her friends. But it’s time for you to leave for school before you arrive late.” stated SinB’s dad.

Sowon nodded and bowed her head. “Thank you for this delicious breakfast!”

They left the house and walked to the bus stop. SinB sat and looked at her friends. “Thank you for helping me earlier… At least they won’t be too shocked when they will see my grades falling down.” said SinB and Umji patted her back.

“Don’t worry, we will work every day after school so you can catch up totally.” she said and Sowon nodded.

“I don’t know anything about your classes but I’m willing to help you as much as I can too.” smiled Sowon and SinB hugged them.

“You are the best.” she said sincerely.

“What about me?” asked a voice getting close to them.

SinB turned around and looked at Yerin smiling. “Yerin!” she said happy to see the girl, she felt like she barely saw her these days… SinB was trying to give Yerin more time to be with her friends but she was missing her a lot in the end.

“How are you girls?” asked Yerin joining them under the bus stop.

“We’re okay.” said Sowon as the bus arrived.

“Okay the bus is here, I will see you tonight.” said Umji leaving them taking the bus while she walked in the other direction to go to her school.

SinB waved at her from the bus. It wasn’t packed today, they found free seats and took them.

“Yerin ar, how come you knew we were at the bus stop? I forgot to let you know..” says SinB lowly.

Sowon giggle “Thanks to me! I texted her to let her know we left the house already, so she met us at the bus stop!” explained Sowon in which Yerin nodded.

“SinB.” said Yerin and SinB looked at her. “Jiyoon unnie asked me if you could come see her this week.” said Yerin unsure. “She said she want to talk about the showcase.”

SinB nodded. “Will you come with me?” asked SinB and Yerin nodded.

“Of course.” answered Yerin with her eyesmile. “Anything for my princess. When do you want to go? Tonight?”

SinB hesitated. “I have a study session with Umji and Sowon after school so maybe after this study period?” asked SinB and Yerin nodded.

“Okay, I finish super late today so it should be okay, I will text you when I finish class so you tell me if you’re still around studying so we can meet and go to the dance school?” asked Yerin.

SinB nodded. “That’s good for me if it’s good for you.” she said and Yerin nodded happily. “You sure you don’t have anything better to do after school?” insisted SinB. “I don’t want to ruin your plans if you want to hang out with your friends or something.” explained SinB shyly and Yerin rolled her eyes.

“With the showcase preparation, I spend all my free time at the dancing school so I will go there after school anyway.” explained Yerin nicely.

“Great.” said SinB then Sowon patted her shoulder making her jump a little.

“Sorry, but it’s our stop.” said Sowon and they stood up to go to school.

At the end of the day, SinB was too tired to study, but she was there, in the library with Umji and Sowon doing their best to help her.

“Okay one more time.” said Sowon taking the card Umji’s made for helping SinB studying.

SinB nodded and Sowon asked her the questions checking behind the cards if SinB got the right answer. Then SinB’s phone vibrated.

“I’m done with class, where are you?” SinB smiled at the message from Yerin and quickly typed an answer.

“Library, waiting for you.” answered SinB before telling the girls she would go to the dance school soon.

“You want us to come with you?” asked Umji but Sinb shook her head.

“Yerin will be with me it should be okay.” answered SinB and Umji nodded.

“Will she walk you home after?” asked Sowon and SinB nodded.

“I guess, if not I will call my parents, they are back so they could pick me up.” explained SinB and both the girls nodded.

“Good I will go home a little then.” said Umji packing her stuff. “You call me if you need anything.”

SinB frowned. “You’re not coming home with me tonight?” she asked scared.

Umji looked at SinB then at Sowon. “Sowon will sleep with you, right?”

Sowon nodded. “If you are okay, my mom is on night shift till the end of the week so…”

SinB was still looking at Umji sadly. “But Umji… You’re tired to always be with me…?” asked SinB and Umji shook her head.

“Of course no, but my parents arrive tonight and I really really miss them…” confessed Umji and SinB nodded.

“Okay…” she said still clearly sad. It would be the first night since the incident that Umji would not be sleeping beside her and SinB was scared.

Yerin arrived at the library and walked to their table. “Ready SinB?” she asked and SinB nodded before looking at Sowon packing her stuff too.

“I have to go work.” said Sowon before SinB got time to ask anything. “I will end late, you guys don't need to wait for me for dinner, I will arrive late.” said Sowon and SinB nodded then they all went on their ways.
