After class, SinB went to Umji’s house. She rang the doorbell and saw her best friend face as the door opened quickly, surprising her a little. Umji must have wait by the door for her to arrive. SinB found this cute. Umji was always so caring with her.

“Hi buddy!!” said Umji with a big smile quickly hugging her best friend before letting SinB walk in.

“Where umma and appa?” asked SinB looking around, wanting to greet Umji’s parents. She really liked them, they were so nice and caring, just like their daughter.

“They are out, probably back later on.” explained Umji while walking toward her room.

SinB followed her and immediately laid on the bed. Umji looked at SinB and went to lie beside her. “What’s wrong SinB?” asked Umji worry in her voice.

“Hm… I don’t know.” sighed SinB turning her head to look at Umji, the girl was looking at the ceiling.

“SinB, when did we become so distant?” asked Umji before turning her head too, to look at SinB in the eyes.

“What are you talking about?” asked SinB frowning.

“Obviously, things aren’t going well. I heard you cried at school and that only occur once in a blue moon. Why don’t you talk to me like before…?” asked Umji a little sad. “I have to find out by other people when my best friend doesn’t feel good!” she added hitting SinB’s arm playfully.

“Hahaha, Eunha texted you?” laughed SinB and Umji nodded.

“I’m sure you knew before you answered my text.” said Umji and this time it’s SinB that nodded at her.

They looked at each other and stayed silent until SinB sighed. “I had an argument...” she just said sadness in her voice.

“With Yuju?” immediately asked Umji knowing that recently only Yuju could make SinB in this state.

SinB smiled bitterly. “Naa… With Umma...” confessed SinB looking away as Umji frowned at her.

“What happened?!” asked Umji shocked to hear that. SinB never argued with her parents before...

“You know how she is.” said SinB sadly and Umji nodded. “Well Yuju showed up yesterday night without notice and let’s say her first impression on Yuju isn’t really good…” explained SinB looking back at Umji’s eyes.

Umji nodded, understanding right away, she knew SinB’s mom perfectly. She really liked SinB’s parents a lot but she knew that with her mom if the first impression was not good, basically it meant game over.

“Umma told you to stop associating with her?” guessed Umji.

SinB nodded. “Yeah… she said she won’t be of any help in the future and that she’s using me… I talked back to her and… yeah she gave me an order to stop hanging with her…” said SinB tears coming back to her eyes.

Umji sighed. “You know how umma is… give her some time...” said Umji patting SinB’s arm in a reassuring way.

“Umji ar, you know very well that it won’t change her mind… especially after that Yuju slip that I went Karaoke and clubbing…” added SinB making a face.

Umji sighed again. “Yeah… that’s...a very bad… impression on her… by telling umma that you girls went there, mean that she often go there… Wait!” exclaimed Umji sitting up in the bed and looking down at SinB wide eyes. “Did umma thinks I went there too?!” she asked and SinB giggled before taking Umji’s arm and pulling her back against the mattress beside her.

“Haha… you know her so well.” laughed SinB. “Don’t worry I told her the truth, I already told her that you didn’t even know them when we went there…” explained SinB to her best friend that was clearly reassured now.

Umji nodded. “But… SinB, for you to talk back to umma… that’s a big… I mean it’s rebellious for her… You know that right?” asked Umji concerned by the situation. She knew how was SinB’s relation with her mother but they never argued like that and she knew that deep down all SinB’s mom wanted was to protect her daughter.

SinB nodded. “I know but I’m not sure I want to let her control who I can be friend with anymore. I want to be able to take my own decisions” she said and Umji nodded. “Good or bad, it’s my life…” she added remembering Yerin’s words.

It went silent some minutes, just lying beside each other in a comfy silent.

After a moment Umji turned and put her head on her arm, she was facing SinB “I’m thinking…” she just said and SinB nodded to her, letting her best friend explain her thoughts. “For you to actually do that, you really… care about Yuju…” said Umji, carefully to not upset her best friend.

SinB pouted. “Of course Umji, she’s my closest friend at university. I’m always with her...” she explained and Umji slowly nodded.

“SinB, let me ask you something ok? Don’t get mad.” said Umji and SinB nodded to her.

“Yeah, go ahead.” SinB said while closing her eyes.

“What if umma tell you to stop being friend with Sowon or Eunha? Would you talk back to her?”

SinB thought for a few seconds. “Yeah, I would probably.” she said after reflexion.

“Did you hesitate when umma asked you to stop associating yourself with Yuju?” asked Umji looking for answers.

SinB got up from her comfortable position. “What are you implying?” she asked getting offended by her best friend implications.

“SinB, I told you, don’t get mad. I’m saying, Yuju is obviously more important to you than anyone else.” she said sitting up too.

“Umji, if umma tell me to stop talking to you I would have done so too. It’s just you and Yuju are more close to me than Eunha and Sowon. Why do you keep saying stuff like that?” argued back SinB getting off the bed.

“No, SinB, open your eyes, every time at the mention of Yuju, you get offensive. Yuju told you to go to Karaoke, you go. Ask you to hang out at a club you go. Ask you to DRINK! You drank!! That’s not the SinB I know!” said Umji standing up and facing SinB, determined to make her friend open her eyes for good.

“I’m just meeting new friends Umji, I don’t want to be a loner. I have to do it to feel included in their world.” argued back SinB, it wasn’t easy for her. Arriving in this public school, meeting those kids that have a different education, and different lives. She had to get out of her comfort zone to be able to feel normal around them. And still she feel like an outsider.

“Ok fine. Yuju told you to stop hanging with Yerin-si, you listen to her, not wanting to upset her. You are afraid that Yuju find out you hang out with Yerin! You told me about it! Stop lying to yourself and open your eyes! When Yuju tell you to stop talking to Yerin, you immediately obey? That’s not you!” insisted Umji. “What happen to the SinB that I know?! Since you meet that girl you talk back to your mom, you go to clubs, drink alcohol! Don’t you see how much you changed?!”

SinB stayed silent and looked down, thinking about everything Umji just told her. Then she looked up at her best friend. “Maybe I’m just tired to be the sweet obedient girl that always do what her mom wants and never stood up for herself!” said SinB frowning. “Yeah I’m changing but it’s not that bad, I’m growing up, I can finally control my own life. And it has nothing to do with Yuju!”

Umji sighed. “I’m glad to see you finally stood up for yourself and all but…” Umji hesitated and SinB looked at her frowning. “SinB, seriously, think about it.” insisted the girl. “Yuju is so much more important to you than anyone else. What I want you to realize is that you would do anything for this girl, I don’t think you only treat her as a friend, close friend or even a best friend. You think of her as a-”

SinB glared at Umji. “Don’t you dare finish your sentence UMJI!” cut SinB raising her voice. It was too much, wasn’t Umji supposed to support her and help her through those hard moments? SinB already argued against her mother and now it was Umji. Why was her life so miserable?! Couldn’t Umji just pat her head then hug her while telling her everything will be fine...

Umji looked at SinB, not scared of her glare. “You looked at Yuju differently SinB. Whenever she’s close to you, you would have that sweet smile on you. Whenever she get intimate with you, you would blush.” she added and SinB shook her head.

“I blush to whoever get close with me! It’s a normal reaction Umji!” talked back SinB. “I’m shy, I would blush at a grandma smiling at me across the streets!”

Umji approached SinB with only a few millimeter away and SinB just stare at Umji. “See, you didn’t blush or feel anything toward me.” said Umji her face almost touching SinB’s.

SinB took a step back and frowned. “It’s not the same Umji!! We known each other since we were in our diaper!!!” she exclaimed.

“Exactly my point, you do feel different with Yuju!” said Umji trying to make a point but SinB couldn’t hear more of this nonsense. So she turned her back to Umji and walked away.

“Don’t run away SinB!” Umji said taking a step in her best friend direction but stopped when SinB turned around.

“I am not running away Umji!” said SinB facing the door.

“Okay, then answer one last question.” said Umji very determined.

SinB turn around and stared at Umji. “Shoot.”

“Did you not feel well after the kiss with Yuju? The kiss on the mouth I mean.” asked Umji looking straight into SinB eyes. SinB bit her lips but stayed silent, she didn’t know what to say to this, she really felt weird after the kiss, so confused. But if she had a chance, she would kiss Yuju’s lips again… SinB blushed at her own thoughts. “See, you know the answer!” said Umji and SinB looked up at her. “Deep down you know it SinB! You fight with umma for Yuju because you love her more than friend! You are fighting with ME because you don’t want to admit it!”

SinB exploded “NO UMJI, I DO NOT! She’s my close friend. That’s IT and that’s ALL! We are done talking Umji! I can’t believe you, you, as my BEST FRIEND, think of me like this!! You should know me better Umji!!” she rambled then she quickly ran down the stairs but ended up in front of Umji’s parents that were arriving into the house at the same moment she was walking out.

“Oh SinB baby!!! Long time no see you!!” said Umji umma with a bright smile.

SinB bowed politely. “Hi Umma, hi appa. Mianhe, I need to go...” she said and walked away, while Umji was running down. “SinB, wait!” shouted Umji but SinB didn’t turned to her and just closed the door before running as far away of the house as she could.

Oh no!! SinB and Umji is having a fight! :( How do you guys feel about this chapter? Is the emotion wise good? We work really hard trying to make it as realistic as possible on their feeling wise. I hope it meet your expectation!! I actually got a bit teary when I wrote the part where they were arguing :( Let us know as usual!!!
