Different 2===
It wasn’t the best day to eat ice cream, not with this freezing weather, but Taeyeon did it anyway. Sitting in a park’s bench, legs hanging and swinging, she ate her ice cream quietly while people watching. The cold breeze made her cheeks red but it seemed like the girl wasn’t bothered at all.
“You have ice cream on your cheek.”
“What?” Taeyeon turned to her left and a handkerchief was dabbed on her face.
“Ice cream on your face, Umma.” Soojung pointed at Taeyeon’s pinkish cheeks.
“Thanks.” Taeyeon took the handkerchief and wiped . “Anything left?”
Soojung only shook her head and went back to eating her ice cream.
Silence engulfed them as they sat side by side. Taeyeon was looking ahead, watching Tiffany and the boys playing. Soojung let out a giggle when Kang Joon tripped and almost fell down.
“Don’t you want to join them?” Taeyeon turned to her daughter.
“Maybe after this ice cream.” Soojung turned to her mother. “How about you, Umma?”
“I...” Taeyeon turned back to Tiffany and frowned.
“Not much of an active person, I see.” Soojung nodded and wiped her hands before standing up. “Let’s go.” She grabbed Taeyeon’s hand.
“But...”
“Come on, Umma. I know you want to join in the fun.”
“What.” Taeyeon looked at the little girl in disbelief.
“Your face says no but I know deep inside you want to.” Soojung tugged at Taeyeon’s hand until her mother relented.
“Ah, this kid.” Taeyeon shook her head as she let Soojung drag her in the middle of the park.
“Umma!” Kang Joon came running to Taeyeon, clinging to his mother.
“What now?”
“I want ice cream too!”
“I want pancakes!” Minho jumped up and down while raising his hand.
“We will get them on our way home.” Taeyeon rolled her eyes at the enthusiasm. “What?” She turned to Tiffany.
“Nothing.” Tiffany shook her head, smiling at the sight. If someone had told her that one day she would be seeing three kids clinging to Taeyeon like there was no tomorrow, she would have died laughing. But there she was, her adorable, little, grumpy wife trying not to squirm out of their children’s hold.
“Let’s go home now.” Taeyeon said in half annoyance and the children reacted.
“We want to play more!”
“5 more minutes!”
“I didn’t get to play, Umma!”
“Fine!” Taeyeon flailed her hands. “Go, play. No fighting!” She pointed at the round, puppy dog eyes staring at her.
The kids cheered happily and ran to the playground, leaving Taeyeon and Tiffany alone.
“Are you happy?” Tiffany stepped closer and casually wrapped her arms around Taeyeon’s waist.
“What?”
“I dont know? You look so annoyed, it’s hard to tell.” Tiffany grinned when she got an eye roll. “So?”
“Of course, I am.”
“Who makes you the happiest?”
“Why are you making me choose?”
“Just curious.”
Taeyeon just stared at Tiffany’s sparkling eyes, her heart doing that stupid fluttering thing that she both loved and hated.
“So?” Tiffany nudged at her wife when Taeyeon remained unresponsive.
“You.” Taeyeon finally said in a tiny voice.
“Why?”
“What’s with all the questions?”
“Just answer it.” Tiffany brushed Taeyeon’s hair gently.
“Because without you, I wouldn’t have any of these.” Taeyeon looked at Tiffany dead in the eyes. “Years into this stupid marriage and you still seek validation.”
“Not really, but it’s nice hearing that from you every now and then.” Tiffany laughed at Taeyeon’s unenthusiastic reaction.
“Fine, I love you. Happy now?” Taeyeon tried to squirm out of Tiffany’s hold but barely moved an inch.
“You know what they say, happy wife equals to happy life.” Tiffany giggled when Taeyeon let out a tiny grin.
