Red Skys and Royal Cards“Never take your eyes off your opponent. If you have more than one then split your attention between them but maintain the most focus on the one causing the most danger.” Tao said as we made our way down the street towards where my first match would be.
“Stay relaxed and don’t stress to much.” Chanyeol offered as advice.
I shook my head and rolled my eyes at him. “Really Chanyeol? That’s all you have to say? You do know I have a slim chance of loosing so I’m not all that worried.”
“Don’t get to cocky now Sky. Anything can happen.” Kai advised me before he laughed, “But yeah, you’re going to win without a doubt.”
“Just be careful, you’re still supposed to be injured remember.” Lay commented. “Don’t do anything that would make it obvious your back has no issue at all.”
“Alright, alright. I think I got this.” I said as we came up to where the stadium my match would take place.
I looked around the stands to see many of my classmates sitting around and talking. All of them coming to watch and see what would happen; most of them hoping to see me get beat down and bloody. It’s a shame though that I wasn’t going to let that happen.
I made my way onto the open area with my Warriors gaining looks of distaste from those sitting around who saw us. I could feel their eyes following me, could see as their looked over at my Warriors with disgust lacing their gaze. My anger started to build the longer the judging looks came our way. I just really can’t stand these views and people; they are so closed minded and rude.
“Hey, calm down Sky. Everything is going to be fine. You are going to do great.” Luhan’s voice came ringing in my head. Looking over at him I saw him give me a small smile before he continued, “I can see the anger forming in your eyes. Don’t worry about it and just ignore the looks. None of us care about what anyone else thinks about us. So long as you don’t hate us like they do nothing else can hurt us.”
I looked away from him and started warming up a little where I was as I replied to him, “I’ll try. Thanks Luhan.” His words helped to calm me, to reassure me that things would be fine. But the feel of the eyes on me never went away or let me forget.
I tried not to think too deeply about the last part of what Luhan said. I don’t want to dig into the meaning behind it when I have to keep my mind focused on what was going to happen in a few minutes. But I would ask him for a clarification once this fight was over.
“Are you so scared of our fight that you need to bring your bodyguards around with you? Can’t protect yourself from me that you need the extra muscle and protection?” The mocking tone of the idiot I was going to be fighting.
I looked over my shoulder at him and sneered, “I don’t need protection from a weakling like you.”
“We’ll see about that when I bring you to the ground.”
I turned back to my boys, ignoring the boy, which only served to anger him more. The twelve of them came closer to hear me, “Go sit down somewhere. Don’t let the Dealers say or do anything to you about it. They try and hurt you, stop them but don’t harm them.”
“We understand.” Xiumin replied before Chen led them away towards the bleachers just to our right.
I moved over towards where I would start the match. Each of us started on opposite ends of the field, from there we move towards the center and the fight begins. It’s a rather simple set up and the fight is rather smartly organized and run, but this one won’t last very long.
I looked up at the stand where the seats were set for that group of Dealers that watched many of the fights. I don’t know who they are and I really don’t care since they have nothing to do with me. I always heard the whispering and squeals that began when they were around but it still doesn’t make much sense to me why.
Ignoring their presence I waited for the second year Training instructor to start our match and read us the rules once again. Stepping to the front of the platform she looked down on the two of us, “The rules are as stated: The fight will commence when both opponents are at their markers at center field. This is a physical battle that tests skill, endurance and tactics; all fighting techniques are permitted so long as it does not cause major or fatal injury. Should such an injury occur, the student at fault will be disqualified from the competition in whole and a punishment shall be given out. When the match is called to an end, all fighting and attacks must halt and students return to their ends of the field if they are able. The use of Abilities is strictly prohibited.”
She looked at my opponent and I with her closed off eyes, “Do you both understand the rules given to you?”
“Yes.” The two of us coursed in unison.
“Move to your marks and begin.”
I didn’t falter in my steps as I moved towards my mark near the center field line. I kept my back in a position that would see as if it had just finished healing but was still slightly sore. I had to keep a conscious thought on how I moved so no one would question me about my back or how I’m healing.
In the stage of healing I’m trying to present myself in I can move it without to much difficulty but I’ll have to wince now and then as if pulling it a little too far. Standing on the painted white line that served as my mark I crouched down a little but otherwise stayed relaxed. I was ready to act at a moments notice but I’m sure my c
