Red Skys and Royal CardsWhen Chen said I would see things on a different level I never thought he meant like this. I have no idea what I was going to see could be so out of the world insane. Is this seriously what he sees every time he does this? Am I actually seeing this or is it all some weird dream after being hit by one of his stray bolts of lightning?
“This can’t be real.” I say as I continue to watch the sky in astonishment.
“Oh it’s very real. Isn’t it beautiful?” Chen says as he to stars at the wonderful beauty happening above our heads.
“Do you see this all the time?” I asked him again.
“This is how I see every storm.”
“It’s like magic.” I breath; not fully able to register it all. “Can you show me the cloud to ground lightning again?”
“With pleasure.” I’ve seen storms before; I always loved to watch them from inside my house, the pattern the lightning made in the sky always fascinated me. But this just opened up a whole new world I never knew existed behind the lightning storms.
I wasn’t just watching the blink of an eye flash of light anymore. No, it was more than that. I saw the whole formation process as if it was always there. I could see the charged particles in the air moving; I saw those negative particles move though the air towards the ground in their branch like pattern. I witnessed the positive particles from the ground move upwards, reaching to touch one of the negative branches.
I watched as the connection was made and the electricity surged from the cloud to the ground not three feet in front of us. It wasn’t just white light I saw anymore; no I could see the electric strands, the thin ropes of electricity cut through the air. The most shocking thing of all though was that I could actually see the shock wave of sound caused by the lightning that made thunder real.
I could see all of it. The ions in the clouds, the movement of electricity, even the thunderous shock waves; I could see all of it. It was a completely different world and Chen controlled all of it right now.
It was truly beyond words at just how spectacular it really was. It’s something you have to see to believe and understand. It’s breathtaking.
“It’s about time you learn how to do this yourself.”
“What?” I spit out as I turn to look at Chen like he was crazy. “I can’t do that!” I exclaim as I wildly flap my hands around in the air. “You have to be out of your mind if you think I can do all of what you just did.”
“Sky.” Chen says calmly.
“Yes?”
“You have my Specialty as part of your Ability. Everything I can do, you can do as well.”
“But. . . “
“No, buts Sky, you can do this. I already told you it was easy if you understood how it worked. You do remember how all of it works right?”
“Kinda?”
“Good enough.” He clapped his hand as another bolt of lightning flashed through the air, each of its steps to formation fully visible to me now, a saw the shock wave it produced shoot outward as the sound of thunder ripped through the air.
But that wasn’t the only thing that happened when his hand hit together. I don’t think he had any idea this was going to happen before he wasn’t the only one with a stunned expression plastered on his face. Neither of us were expecting this, but I couldn’t help but burst into a fit of giggles.
It was funny. No scratch that, it was hilarious! It was the funniest this I have seen recently and I couldn’t help but wonder who he pissed off. It’s like a thing from stories and the movies; I didn’t think I would ever see something like it being real and happening in front of me.
Then again, I’m now part of a world that shouldn’t exist.
Who cares anymore, this is too funny to warrant such serious and reality bringing thoughts. My worries about attempting to do what Chen just did vanished. The thought that I might hurt someone while I trained were all but gone from my mind as I watched Chen in utter amusement.
“Serves you right for causing me to get wet. Enjoy your storm dongsaeng.” Suho called from a window on the third floor.
“Hyung!” Chen screeched as the sky blazed white.
“When our storm ends so does yours. Enjoy teaching.” Suho shut the window with his laughter the last things to be hear echoing around us.
What has us laughing so much? Well Suho was kind enough to make a little, very visible cloud float about two feet above Chen’s head. Not only that, but rain was pouring from it and onto Chen with no chance of letting up. But it was only Chen getting wet, nothing else. The water disappeared before it landed on the ground but clung onto Chen and soaked his clothing through. The raining cloud followed him around where ever he moved. And if he tried to wave his hands through it to get rid of it, it would only reform and rain harder on him.
It was so funny. And I was about to make more fun out of it. He said I needed to learn, so why not try on a little small-scale model first. Trying to remember what Chen said about cloud to air lightning and what I saw when he was using his Specialty while I watched.
I tried to picture how the positive and negative particles would move, touch and what the lightning would do. And like Chen said, it was easy. Way easier than I thought. And my laughter only grew.
I now just found a way to make his little rain cloud have tiny bolt of lightning crack across the cloud and a few times h
