Red Skys and Royal CardsGetting the damn Royals involved in this would be nuclear, none of us want them anywhere close to us. Close to Sky, even less. And neither do I have the want to divulge to Sky just what happened in our past. What we were capable of doing and what we actually did in the process.
I would ring Nyx’s neck if doing so wouldn’t cause Kris to strangle me and gut me on the floor for touching his pet. Both him and Chanyeol are very protective over their animals, and even if we tried to go after them, those tiny creatures are pretty nasty when crossed.
“I don’t want you to be tormented about whatever happened in your past. I don’t want you to suffer from those memories. But, I do need to know what they are, I need to know what happened.” Sky spoke once again. Her tone soft and caring. “Your past has shaped you, it’s made you who you are today. You have to remember that it’s the past, not your present or your future. Speaking about it will make it seem as if it is happening, but it’s not, and it won’t affect what we have here now. So, please. Tell me.”
“We did very unforgivable things, Sky.” I said.
“We were the people you hate the most.” Chanyeol muttered. “Power obsessed Dealers.”
“What?” she asked.
“You’ve been told of the origins of Dealers, have you not?” Kris asked her.
“I have.”
Suho stepped over to her bedside. “Then you know that it started with thirteen Dealers.” She nodded her head silently. “Royals come from the immediate family of twelve of the first thirteen while the Descendant is the blood child of the thirteenth Dealer.”
“Only one of the first thirteen Dealers was able to produce an heir to their blood line.”
“What happened to the other twelve?” She asked us.
I cringed as I thought back to what happened to the Dealers. “They were cursed.” I said in the heavy silence that surrounded us.
“What was their curse?”
Baekhyun laughed shakily. “To live eternity as the beings they abused.”
Sky covered as she began to understand what we were explaining and why this was relevant. Our history was not pleasant and it was not kind. It was filled with terrible actions, power and destruction.
“The twelve of us used to be the first Dealers to exist, until we were cursed for the things we did.” Luhan sighed. “The twelve of us along with our youngest, JiHoon, are the Dealers you are told about, the ones you learn about.”
“W-What?” She balked. Her eyes widening as she looked at each on of us.
“We haven’t always been Warriors.” Sehun shifted on the bed as if wanting to be closer to her. “Before we were like this - before we were Warriors we were the first Dealers to exist.”
“We did many things that we regret when we look back on it. We treated the Warriors we Claimed even worse than how Dealers do today. We were cruel to anyone that wasn’t like us. If someone pissed us off we hurt them, tortured them, killed them.” Lay explained.
The things we did in our human lives are unforgivable. It’s why we don’t like to think of it, to remember it. We aren’t those people any more, in more ways than one. We now have that power we were obsessed over but we no longer want it as we once used to. We are no longer the fun loving humans; we are the beings that we coveted. Following the orders of the gifted humans we once were.
A curse we can no longer escape from.
“All we wanted was power, as much of it as we could get. What lives we had before were nothing to us any longer, we changed. And for all we did, we were cursed.” Xiumin looked away from her. All of us were having difficulty looking straight at her, scared about the way she would look at us.
We don’t want to see the disgust, hate, and negative emotions she has towards us once she finds out what we have done. None of us could handle it; it would break our hearts to know she loathed us for the things we once did.
“What happened?” She asked us. Her voice was muffled from behind her hands as she looked around at all of us in shock. “What did you do that got you cursed?”
D.O laughed dryly. “We broke the one law that will have any Dealer executed today.”
“There is a reason why no Dealer is allowed to exceed Claiming a single Deck. The law is in place for a very important reason.” Kai continued.
“I don’t see how that could do anything.” Sky remarked. “What’s Claiming a bunch of Cards going to do?”
“It’s not Claiming the Cards that poses the problem.” Xiumin rung his hands as he watched the floor. “It’s the reason Dealers Claim those Cards that makes the problem arise.”
“As you know, Dealers – for the most part – crave power. They can call upon and control beings of great strength and magic, along with that they can wield a portion of that power. But for
