Plot

Hanna was invited to a Christmas party by Suho, her childhood friend. She didn't know anyone else besides Suho so when he had to leave her to greet other guests, she sat near the wall after grabbing a plate of food and just watched people. A man (Chen) who seemed to be in the same predicament as her sat a few seats over. They awkwardly started to talk and slowly realized that they had quite a lot in common. Once the party was over and almost everybody was out, Suho took a glance at them and was glad that they seemed to be having fun. He joked that it was probably fate and that it was the work of the mistletoe above them, which they both didn't notice was there. Suho left them again and both were back to feeling awkward.

Junmyeon skipped along with a cheerful smile.  He had on his stone gray jeans and his brown sweater like he wears every Christmas.  He put on a dark pair of shades and styled his bangs smoothly on either side.  He was feeling the season, and he is indeed jolly right now.  He had two envelopes in his hand and was looking forward to handing them out.

He made it to a cream colored house with snow leading up the front door.  At the front door is another male around his age.  Which Junmyeon is in his early twenties, still in college.  The other male is working to shovel the snow to make a path to the sidewalk.

"Jongdae!"  He called out, "Jongdae, I know you're busy, but do you have a minute?"  He asked as he took down his sunglasses.

Jongdae propped the shovel against the wall and then leaned his body on it.  "What's up, Junmyeon?  It's not like you to wander around during the day."  He commented.  "You know there are exams after our winter break."  He reminded.

"I know, I know.  I'll study in an hour or so."  He replied.  "Anywhom, you know how my family always sets a Christmas party up during winter break?" He asked and received a nod.  "Well my parents gave me permission to host it this year."

Jongdae stood up properly.  "Oh really?  That's great!  What are you doing here though?"  He laughed as he scratched his neck.

Junmyeon hummed and took one of the envelopes.  "I wanted to be a bit formal by handing out invitations to it."  He handed the envelope to Jongdae when the other male took off his gloves.

"Wow, that's cool."  He smiled softly.  "Hey, you've got another one."  He pointed at the other red envelope.

Junmyeon looked at the single envelope.  "Yup, one more person left.  Oh how she's gonna hate me for inviting her."  He laughed.  "Anyway, have fun working!  Ciao!"

Jongdae hummed and looked down at the envelope.  He opened the flaps and took out the powder blue card.  It was gradient with snowflakes.  "He went all out, huh?"  He muttered.

Junmyeon went a bit away and stopped at the two-story, gray house.  He sighed and look down at the last invitation.  "Hanna is going to kill me."  He chuckled before walking up and ringing the door bell.

It took a minute for Junmyeon to hear the door unlock.  The door opened, revealing the girl's mother.  She opened the screen and smiled when Junmyeon bowed.  "What can I do for you, Junmyeon?"  She asked.

"Hello, Mrs. Go,"  He waved, "is Hanna home right now?"  He asked.

"I'm afraid you just missed her.  She's on her way to a little meeting with her classmates."  She informed.  "Did you need her for something?"

Junmyeon pursed his lips and looked down at the salted patio.  "I suppose not really.  Do you think you can give her this when she gets back home?"  He asked as he handed the envelope to the woman.

"Sure, I'll give it to her right away."  She took it and put it on the entry way table.  "Shouldn't you be studying?"  She laughed.

Junmyeon has a reputation of studying all day and partying later.  However, when it comes to Christmas parties, he can't just sit at his desk all day.  Every year they about not studying, especially since he still gets good grades.

"I'm on my way back home now.  I'll start studying right away."  He bowed before running off.

She chuckled and looked back at the envelope.  "How sweet.."  She closed the screen and door.

***

Hanna put a Christmas bow in her hair before straightening her dress.  She grumbled as she put the strap on for her short heels.  She looked at herself in the mirror and sighed.  "Oh well,"  She muttered as she thought herself to look pretty ugly in her green and red dress, "his fault for inviting me."

She picked up her small, black purse before walking to the door of her bedroom.  She took her phone off its charger and walked out of the room.  Her parents looked her up and down with a small chuckle.

"You know how Junmyeon is,"  She started with folded arms, "he'll wonder if I hate his dress if I don't wear it."

"Right,"  Her mother stopped giggling, "have fun."  She escorted her to the door.

Hanna walked to Junmyeon's house that wasn't too far away.  She heard Christmas music already playing.  She walked to the front door and rang the doorbell. No surprise, Junmyeon was the one to answer the door.  He had a bright smile as he eyed the girl.

"Hanna~"  He hugged her, "come on in."  He guided before closing and locking the door.

Hanna's nerves went through the roof, Who are these people?  I've never seen these people in my life!  She realized.  Whenever Junmyeon's parents throw a party, they invite relatives.  He must have invited his college friends..  She concluded as she was walked around.

"Well, I have other guests to see to.  I'll see you later."  He let go of her shoulder.

"Wait-"

"Have fun!"  Junmyeon disappeared.

Hanna sighed and looked around.  I guess I should get some food to calm me down.  She thought as she spotted the table with food and drinks on it.

She picked up a plate and put simple foods like beans and vegetables on it.  She then walked to the sitting area and sat down.  Crossing her legs, she starts eating while watching some people around the place chatting and dancing.

"You don't eat much,"  A voice sounded from a couple seats over.

She looked to the right and saw a man with a small plate of food.  "That's alright, I don't eat much while I'm out either."  He continued as he poked at his potato salad.

She nodded.  "Yeah.. I always feel too nervous to eat out in public."  She put the plate on the other seat next to her.

He hummed and did the same.  "Instead, I rather just stay quiet and admire the place from a distance."  He chuckled as he put his hands in his lap.

She laughed and copied.  "Yeah.. I wish I knew more people here though.  It feels.. weird.. to be in a house with all of Junmyeon's friends yet still be alone."  She sighed.

He pouted his bottom lip and started playing with his nails.  "Yeah.. Junmyeon is just full of surprises."  He agreed in a mutter.

"How do you know him?"  She was curious.

"He and I are actually cousins."  He laughed as he turned his body in the chair to face her.

She raised her eyebrows.  "Really?  I've never met you before."  She was excited.  "He's been inviting me to his parties every year since we were kids, I thought I would have recognized you."

He nodded and looked down at the chair between them.  "My mom recently moved us.  I've just never come to any of his parties.. I was.. a bit scared."  He said silently.

She moved to the seat between them.  "Hey, I understand."  She put a hand on his shoulder.  "I'm Hanna."

"Jongdae."  He returned the soft smile.

It seemed liked hours passed by after that.  Hanna and Jongdae spoke about almost everything, catching up on each others lives and all.  Hanna learned that Jongdae likes to sing, and so does she.  He learned her habits while she was talking.  How she would feel the fabric of her dress when it got to a sensitive topic and when she puts her feet together when it's an exciting topic.

Jongdae can't say that he's any different.  And Junmyeon has noticed this.  He walked up to the laughing pair with a satisfied smile.  "I thought you two would get along well."  He laughed.

"It's been a great night, Junmyeon.  Thanks for inviting me."  Jongdae said.

Junmyeon chuckled as he took a quick glance around them.  "I invited you two on the same day.  I guess it was fate that made you two get along so well."  He brought up.  "Or~ It's because you two are sitting under a mistletoe.  You take your pick."  He shrugged as he walked off.

The two instantly look up at the ceiling.  There most definitely is a mistletoe there.  Hanna's cheeks go pink as she never realized that was there.  Jongdae is in the same boat too.  They lower their heads to make eye contact.  They blinked in the silence.

"I uhm.."  Jongdae fumbled with his clothes, wondering what he should do.

"Rules.. are.. rules.. I suppose.."  She said in a small voice.

Jongdae slowly raised his hand to cup her cheek.  He tilted his head a bit as he leaned in close to her.  "Can I?"  He asked permission in a whisper.

He watched her slowly nod.  It's like nothing else was around them; no one was watching them and no one had any knowledge on them.  Their lips come together softly and, in Hanna's opinion, shortly.

"I'm going to go now,"  He pulled back with flushed cheeks, "it was great meeting-"

"Jongdae,"  She interrupted, making him stop from leaving the chairs, "why don't you give me a call later?  We could.. I don't know.. hang out?"  She wondered as she held his hand and took out her phone with her other hand.

"S-seriously?"  He asked.

She stood up and put her number in the other's phone he had taken out.  "Merry Christmas, Jongdae."  She stood on her tippy toes to put a kiss on his cheek.

After that, she walked off.  Jongdae felt his cheek with a smile.  Best Christmas party ever..

Chapter 209: I appreciate your vision! This is definitely not what I have in mind so it is even better that you were able to spin my prompt in an entirely different direction.

Minghao's life was truly sad, and I'm glad he had Ella with him to weather through that. I thought the love between them were going to remain platonic, but I'm glad Minghao realized what that love truly meant for him in the end. I was a bit skeptical with the use of Sister and Brother to refer to each other, how do you think they got over that? Were they only calling each other that to keep up the facade (especially on Ella's part, as if she is trying to keep her feelings away, that sort of thing)?

Anyways thank you so much for this! ♥️♥️♥️
