Mark looked around the chief wizard's temple.  Dressed in all black, Mark sneaks into the potion room.  He picks up a book that was left on the table.  It was a copy of the wizard's spells and potion instructions.  Of course the wizard wouldn't keep the original work in his alchemy room.  Mark opened the book and sat back against the wall, scanning the details on basic potions.  Some potions were bleeding potions, helping the drinker to clot better and faster.

Some other potions were to harm those drinking or inhaling the fumes.  His heart skipped a beat when the lights and the tall wizard came into view.

"Young boy,"  The wizard started, startling the seven year-old, "what are you doing in my temple?"  He asked, holding a blue candle.

Mark stood up with wobbly legs.  "I'm-I'm sorry, Sir.."  he bowed and put the book back in its place.  "I've been curious, is all."  He said.

The wizard softened his expression.  "What were you curious about, little one?"  He asked, holding Mark's hand invitingly.

Mark walked with the wizard out of the alchemy room.  "I'm curious about potions.. how do they work?"  He asked.  "I've always heard 'bout them, but I'd never seen or known 'bout them."  His childish tone made the wizard chuckle.

"Where are you from?  Why aren't you with your parents this time of night?"  He asked, sitting the boy down at the kitchen table.

Mark looked down and pursed his lips.  "I say that destiny don't like me a lot,"  Mark said, accepting the glass of milk, "my folks left me a couple days back at the cow farm."  He pointed at the general direction.

The wizard pouted his lip.  "Boy, there aren't any cows there.  That farm has been abandoned for ages."  He said.

"I know,"  Mark furrowed his eyebrows, "ma just said to sit tight.. She didn't even give me a kiss."  He said sadly.

The wizard put his hand on the boy's head.  He nodded and smiled.  "Well you're welcome here, young Mark."  He said.

"How did you know my name?"  He asked.

The wizard chuckled, seeing the boy's future before his eyes.  He caught a tear as it was forming.  "I'll take care of you and you'll learn."  He assured.  "I have a spare bedroom, follow me."  He lead the boy out of the kitchen.

Mark followed curiously to the chamber.  He sat down on the old bed and put the empty glass on the coaster that the nightstand has.  The wizard put the blanket to the boy's chin.  "Destiny is decided by us, young Mark.  You have the power to change your life."  He said—he hoped.  "I see a young girl in your life, Ara is her name."  He said.

Mark smiled.  "A friend?"  He asked.

"No, your soulmate."  The wizard said, pointing at the water symbol on his forearm. "She will have a similar mole."

Mark looked at him with big eyes.  "Do well, young Mark, and your destiny will be beautiful."  He said.

"I'll do my best, Sir."  Mark acepted the little dog plush, not even questioning why the old man had these things.

His eyes then close for the night.

Mark opens his eyes and groans at the light coming in from his chamber's window.  He rubbed his eyes as he sat up, swinging his legs over the side of the bed.  His height made the closet seem short.  He opened the closet and pulled out an outfit to wear.

Today marks his tenth day in arcane potion training.  What this means is that he will be using the potions he makes in a battle.  Whether it be drinking it his own self, or throwing it at his opponent.  He wears something easy to run in, knowing his wizard mentor will probably have a few aces up his sleeve.

It's never anything normal with the wizard.  He's either eating a bowl of roasted sulfur mushrooms or mixing together potions that make his hair stand up.  But Mark is used to it, as he considers the old man his father.  The now-adult male walks down the stairs and into the familiar kitchen.  He sees the crazy man eating his mushrooms with milk.

He raised an eyebrow.  "Where did you get milk, Sir?"  He asked in confusion.  "We haven't had a cow farm nearby since many years before I came here."  He commented.

The wizard furrowed his eyebrows and put the bowl down.  "I traveled to a different land than this recently.."  He said.

"A different land?  Can I go one day, Sir?"  He asked.

"No, Mark.  You are to stay inside today."  The wizard instructed.  "Do not exit this tower."  He said seriously.

Mark pouted.  He reached for the mushrooms and looked at the golden color.  He ate one from the bag before walking to the sink to get some water.  "I will be in the alchemy chamber then."  He said to the man.  "No training today?"  He asked.

The wizard nodded.  "No training today.  Practice making potions."  He confirmed.

Mark walked out of the kitchen.  He did what the man said.  He opened the book and started making the potions.  However, his mind kept traveling to the other land.  He put the flask down and looked out of the window.  What different land is he talking about?  He asked to himself.  Is it a different nation?  A different kingdom?    He sat down against the wall.

How many different kingdoms are there?  Are we allies?  Many questions filled the young mind of Mark.  Which is why he waiting until night to sneak out of the temple.  He looked around and climbed the rocks.  He looked at the abandoned cow farm.  Not a single soul was seen there.

He opened the big, barn door.  There were old tools there and stacks of whithered hay.  He climbed the ladder to the top and saw a chest.  He looked around before opening the chest.  He sees that the lid is a mirror.  The first time he saw himself in a mirror.

"Oh..?"  He poked the mirror, his finger disappearing.

He jumped back and his back hit the wall.  He looked at his index finger with heavy breaths.  "What-what was that?!"  He panicked.  He looked at the chest, seeing his scared face look back at him.  He reached to close the chest.

Going down the ladder, his legs wobbled.  He ran out of the barn and saw three men with lanterns on their staffs.  They had swords on their hips and armor on their body.  They looked at Mark with angry eyes.

"How dare you tresspass on sacred land!"  One man said, taking out his sword.

The other two took their swords next, letting their lanterns go.  Mark's heart went faster as he realized there wasn't any place to run.  His eyes search the place as the three near him.  He took a potion from his belt, throwing it the men's way.  They cough while he runs to the fence, hopping over the tall, wood-rotten fence.

He knows that tresspassing is wrong, but running away from guards is a very big crime—punished by death.  He knew that he was a goner.  He kicked the door down and ran up the stairs.  He heard the guards enter the house as he made it to a pink room.  The room looked like it belonged to a girl in its prime.

He looked around and saw a mirror on the wall.  It was as tall as him.  He walked closer to it and put his finger on it.  He yelped when his finger left.  He took his hand back and looked at the finger.  Hearing the guards coming up the stairs, he nodded to himself.  He closed his eyes as he pushed his way into the mirror.

The guards enter the room, seeing his foot disappear into the mirror.  "Should we go after him?"  One guard asked.

"No, he won't survive in that world."  The main guard said.

"Which world will he be entering, Sir?"  The youngest asked.

The oldest looked at their reflection.  "I have no idea,"  He said, "that was the wizard's boy.  He needs to face his punishment for letting Mark out today.."  He said, walking out of the room with his sword held strongly.

***

Ara dressed in a blue dress this evening.  Her dress made it to the floor and her sleeves went past her finger tips.  Her plain face was accented by the sapphires in her ears and the pin in her hair.  Her mother's jewelry made her sparkle in the beautiful restaurant.  She had been sitting her for almost half an hour, waiting for her date to arrive.

Her parents are the type that want to introduce a man to their daughter to marry.  They don't mind her saying she has interest in a co-worker or a handsome man, but at the end of the day, it's their opinion that matters.  And this man is just another man that her parents picked out.

Just as she promised, however, she was willing to give each boy a chance.  There ought to be one boy out there that is perfect for her, right?

She looked up when she heard footsteps nearing the table.  The man was dressed in a dark blue suit, matching her sapphire appearance.  She stood up and bowed.  "Miss Ara, I'm so sorry for running late."  He said.  "However, I have so much business to attend to."

Ara raised an eyebrow.  "And what business is it?"  She asked.  She isn't an arrogant girl, but making her wait thirty minutes just to tell her that he has to leave once he gets there isn't polite either.

"I can't really talk about it, it's FBI matters."  He said.  "Here,"  He took his credit card out, "eat whatever you'd like."  He put the platinum card in her hand.

Ara looked down at the card.  "This is our first and last date, Jackson.."  Ara said in disappointment.

"I understand."  He bowed.

She watched him leave.  She looked at the card and sighed, knowing she couldn't spend his money in good conscience.  She flipped through the menu to look at the lowest priced things and paid for the food on her own dime.  She's a high-ranking fashion designer, she can afford a pricier steak.

She clinked her juice-filled wine glass with the empty glass in front of her.  "One day, I will meet my soulmate.."  She gave herself false hope in a mutter.

Walking into her room, she turns on the light.  She sat at her mirror table, taking her mother's jewlery out of her ears, from around her neck, and in her hair.  She took off the ring ang bracelet that matched too.

Ara liked to look presentable to her dates.  She might not put on a lot of makeup, but as a fashion designer, she likes to wear her clothes.  She loves her style and would like to express herself with her clothing.  She's a shut-in person, but opens up in the right atmosphere.

She looked in the mirror after taking her heels off.  She sighed as she lifted her dress and hung it in her closet.  She walked into the bathroom and finished her nightly routine of showering and dressing in her night gown.  Brushing her hair in the bathroom, she hears a loud bang from outside the door.

She gasped and almost let the brush go.  She slowly opened the door and saw a man holding his stomach while curling up on the floor.  She walked closer to see the man dressed in black but a purple cape.  "Excuse me?"  She had a small voice wall gaining the attention of the man.

The man looked up at her before looking around the room.  His eyes then land on Ara once more.  The girl relaxed her arms, and he saw a strange yet familiar symbol on her arm.  He blinked twice before standing up.  "Where am I?"  He asked.

She gave a concerned glare.  "You're in a lady's bedroom,"  She answered, "what are you doing here?  Are you a friend of my dad?"  She asked.

"I don't know you,"  He said honestly, "I came through there."  He pointed at the full-length mirror.

She furrowed her eyebrows and walked up to the mirror.  She poked at her reflection before looking back at him.  "I don't know what you're trying to do, but whatever it is, I would like you to leave my bedroom before I sream."  She said.

"I'm sorry,"  He bowed, "I didn't mean to cause any trouble.."  He said, looking around for an exit.

She walked up to her bedroom door and opened it.  "This is the way out."  She pointed.

He walked up to her, looking at her with aw.  "I've.. never seen a lady before.."  He said as he walked out of the door.  "Can I talk to you for a few minutes before you go to bed?"  He asked as he noticed her wearing something similar to what the wizard would wear to bed.

"I suppose.. just don't be loud."  She said, walking him downstairs and turning on a couple of lights.

The man looked around at the fairly large place.  "What do you mean you haven't seen a lady?"  She asked in wonder.

"It's always been just me and the Master Jinyoung.."  The man said.  "Oh, my name is Mark, by the way."  He introduced himself.

Ara bowed.  "I'm Ara,"  She said, "who is Jinyoung?"  She asked.

Mark looked at her arm once more.  "My magic mentor.. And kinda like my dad."  He chuckled.  "Can I see your arm for a minute?"  He asked permission.

Ara looked down at her arm.  "Oh.. You noticed it.."  She hid her arm behind her back.  "I rather not be made fun of by a stranger, if you don't mind."  She looked up at him.

"Oh no, I wouldn't make fun of you."  Mark put his hand up.  "I have this weird symbol on my arm too."  He said, taking his cape off and showing his forearm.

Ara looked at the symbol on his arm.  She gasped before looking at her arm.  "It's identical.."  She muttered.

Instantly, Mark thought of what the wizard had told him a sum of years ago.  She's my soulmate..  He realized.  "Maybe that means.. we're compatible?  Like with the Zodiac signs?"  He suggested with a faint smile.

Ara huffed with a smirk.  "Are you seriously flirting with me?"  She asked.

"Perhaps.."  He put one eyebrow up.

Before she could say a word, the remaining lights downstairs turn on.  "Ara, Dear?"  She heard her mother before she saw her.  "Who is this man?"  She asked.

Ara looked back at Mark, now studying the details of his face before his clothes.  "He's.."  She didn't know what profession he would have wearing a cape like that.

"Is he another love interest?"  Her father asked, taking his sleeping cap off.

She grew pink cheeks and looked at her parents.  "Yes, he's.. a chemist."  She lied.

"A chemist you say,"  Ara's father rubbed his chin, "what are you doing here at my house tonight?"  He asked.

Mark stood up and bowed.  "I-"

"My date ran out on me,"  Ara spoke up, "this kind gentleman saw it and offered to take his place."  She made up.

Her mother gave a happy-surprised look at Mark.  "Why thank you, young man."  She said.  "And what is your name?"  She asked.

"Mark Tuan."  He introduced himself.

"Nice to meet you, Mark."  Her father said.  "Where are you from?"  He asked.

Mark didn't know to answer that.  He kept a smile on his lips, but his eyes wandered.  "A distant land.."  He said.

"Well you're welcome to stay here, Mark."  Her mother said.  "Dear, could you show Mark to the guest room?  You don't want your boyfriend feeling unwelcome, do you?"  She tasked Ara.

Ara nodded with a hesitant laugh.  "Of course not,"  She replied, "please follow me, Mark."  She took Mark's hand.

Once they were alone, Mark sighed.  "You don't have to pretend to like me, Ara."  He muttered.

"Pretend?"  Ara looked up at him.  "Who's pretending?  You're really interesting."  She corrected.  "You have the same mole as I do, I think we can get along well."  She said.

Mark smiled and bowed.  "Thank you, Miss Ara."  He bowed like he would to the king in his world.

Not much romance here.. but romance can't happen too much on the first meeting.
Perhaps there will be a moment soon that they have a kiss or two ;)
You said that he could be chased by wizards, but I made Mark the wizard *evil laugh*
I hope you liked this!  Thank you for requesting~

Chapter 209: I appreciate your vision! This is definitely not what I have in mind so it is even better that you were able to spin my prompt in an entirely different direction.

Minghao's life was truly sad, and I'm glad he had Ella with him to weather through that. I thought the love between them were going to remain platonic, but I'm glad Minghao realized what that love truly meant for him in the end. I was a bit skeptical with the use of Sister and Brother to refer to each other, how do you think they got over that? Were they only calling each other that to keep up the facade (especially on Ella's part, as if she is trying to keep her feelings away, that sort of thing)?

Anyways thank you so much for this! ♥️♥️♥️
