Oh Hanna established herself as one of the top MMA* fighters in South Korea within two years. Her father, Luciel Oh, was also one of the top ten MMA fighters in the world. She had followed her father's footsteps. Watching her father tackle down his opponents skillfully she had imitated on her classmates who bullied her. She remembered that when her parents were called in her father winked at her while her mother looked at her with disapproval. From then on her father had begun leading her towards his path.
(*Mixed Martial Arts)

"Listen Hanna. You cannot always win." She heard her father's voice as she dodged her opponents punch. She bent down wrapping her hand around her opponent's waist and pushing her towards the edge. "If you want to win you have to watch your opponents and learn. This is not only about winning"

"But." She breathed out. "I. Want. To. Win." She emphasized each words yelling as she hoisted her opponent and threw her onto the floor and immediately reached out to her taking her leg and head into her hands blocking her opponent  from attacking her. "And I will always." As the countdown ended her supporters erupted to a joyous scream.

Hanna let her opponent go and smiled in victory as she raised her arms. She then turned to her opponent who was panting heavily. Offering her hand her opponent stood up by Hanna's help.

"You are good as they say. It's an honour." Her opponent shook her hand and then left the victor to be interviewed regarding her victory.

"Hanna Oh, you are going to face Yujung Lee at the final round. She is known to be South Korea's best player and she had been the country's representative at the UFC. How do you feel about it?" One reporter from the States had questioned her.

Hanna's English was not good but she understood the question so nevertheless she continued to answer in Korean. "Sure, Yujung Lee is the best but I'm known to be a prodigy and at the final showdown I can dethrone her from the representative of South Korea. I'm very confident that I can do it." She grinned to the camera.

"Yujung has been reigning as the champion for nearly five years and this is her sixth year. Similar to you she began her career at the tender age of 20. She called your father as her role model. Speaking about your father how are you taking in his loss." Suddenly the whole world started to buzz around her. She could not hear any voices anymore. All she could hear was the ringing noise in her ear getting louder and image of the reporters started getting blurred.

"Hanna! Hanna!" She felt herself being dragged through the swarm of the crowd and pushed into her room. Her manager sat her down and slowly she started to get herself together.

She felt her hands clasp a cold can of cola she realized looking down and then at her manager.

"Hey, you okay?" He asked worried.

"Uncle." She sighed taking a sip from the cola. "Can you tell reporters to refrain bringing dad up?" He stood up and pushed his hair back.

"Those bastards." He punched the wall. "Your mother did not make it today. I'm sorry." He added after a while of silence.

"I know. She doesn't like this." She leaned back to the chair and draped her hand over her eyes. "Prepare my clothes. I'll freshen up. I don't want to party today. Say I'm tired."

"Fine."

***

Hanna had two hours before the final showdown. She dialed to her mother and she knew that her mother was aware about the match. The whole country was in front of the television waiting anxiously for the match to begin. The dial went to voicemail. Well aware that her mother would not respond she decided to send a voicemail.

"Hey mom, it's me. I know you hate me for choosing this path but dad wanted me to do this. This was his dream. I would have been happy for you to be here and watch over me. I love you."

She clicked her phone and then headed to get herself changed. Saying that she was not nervous was an understatement. After all Juyung was a well known and well acclaimed fighter. Hanna was confident that she could beat her but still she was afraid. If her father had been here he could have bring her out of this turmoil.

"Dad, are you watching over me? Please, help me." She clasped her hand and prayed.

Hanna gasped for air as the crowd roared and at the same time she was able to decipher the disappointing sighs. She laid on the floor as her mind wandered back again to her father.

"Hanna, you are not yet ready for this!" He exclaimed.

"But, dad I'm confident. Yujung Lee is not a big hassle. I can defeat her. After all I defeated Uncle Justin. You said that he was a hard opponent and her coach." She said as she threw uniform punches towards the punching bag.

Her father shook his head. "That's not the point here. Everyone has their own sets of skills. I watched Yoojung play and she is way different than you think."

Hanna smirked. "Well, then you observed her." She removed the boxing gloves and hung it on the punching bag. She walked towards her father and placed her hand on his shoulder. "I am sure you can come up with a strategy."

He sighed. "This is your game." And he turned his back to leave her but before he could leave her. "You told me that you play to win. But, winning is not everything. If you want to win you have to watch your opponents and learn. This is not only about winning."

Tears escaped her eyes as she draped her arm over her eyes to hide the tears.

"Hanna! Hanna! Do you fee-" she yelped in pain when she felt someone squeeze her leg making her finally realize that her leg was fractured. The last elbowing hit from Yujung had fractured her right leg. Sudden realization made her laugh loud.

"! You win dad!" She muttered.

***

Hanna was silent for days. Seven days in the hospital passed quickly unknowingly. She believed that her painkillers kept her asleep throughout the days. Finally after a week she decided to check the articles concerning her. Apparently, her agency decided that she should take a break and after all her injury would take few months to recover. This was not her first time to break a leg but somehow Yujung had hit a critical nerve in her leg.

Hanna did not hear the door open but when she turned she was met by the concerned face of her mother. She scoffed instead of welcoming her.

"So, it took you a week to come see your daughter?" Hanna remarked picking an orange from the fruit basket. Her mother approached her and took the orange from her hand while placing the handbag aside.

"Are you here to nag me?" Hanna asked as she watched her mother silently peel the orange.

"I'm sad." Was her mother's simple reply. "Your father died on the ring and I don't want you to die too."

Hanna softened on her mother's concern. The memory of her father being suffocated as he was put on a headlock by the opponent was painful. Her father had slapped his opponent's arms continuously trying to stop him. The moment she saw her father's desperation she knew that something was wrong. When her father stopped struggling his opponent stood up in victory but her father's blue face fell onto the ground with a thud. His eyes last locked with hers shut itself signing off life from it.

"I'm sorry mom." She blinked the tears away.

Her mother broke the orange into pieces and handed them to her. "Come live with me until you recover." Hanna's eyes widened after all her mother had chased her away from her 8 months ago after her father's death when she refused to quit MMA.

She thanked her uncle to pushed her wheelchair towards her home. It would take a while for Hanna to start walking again and until then she had to use the wheel chair. She hated it but she has no other choice.

"Well, here goes my temporary time without training." She rolled over to her room to get some rest.

When evening came she heard her door knock. "Come in." She muttered as she pulled herself up into a sitting position. Her mother entered with a small smile and then took her seat on the edge of her bed.

"Well, we have new neighbors who moved into the house next door last week. I invited them today since you are here as well." Hanna groaned in response.

"Mom! I don't want to face people."

"Oh come now! They are pretty much excited to meet you." Her mother fiddled with her fingers. "Calling you a celebrity and such." Hanna could not believe her eyes. Was it her or was her mother actually being proud?

"Mom, you do know that you were a wife of one of the top ten fighters in the world." Hanna asked though she knew that bringing up dad was a sensitive subject. She saw her mother smile sadly.

"I know, right. Maybe that's why I get those pitiful stares everytime I go out."

Hanna reached her mother's hand clasping them in hers. "Mom, dad would not want us to cry over him. I know. I hate media bringing him up everytime they interview me."

Her mother raised their hands and placed a kiss on Hanna's fingers. "Let's get through this together."

Hanna nodded. "I'll ready myself and be out in 10 minutes." Her mother stood up and patted her head placing a kiss on her forehead.

"Wow, Mrs. Oh! I love the interior. Can I take pictures for future reference?" Hanna saw a boy around her age exclaim as soon as he entered her household. Her mother chuckled giving approval to his request.

"Don't mind my son. He is majoring in interior designing so he gets fascinated with everything." She heard a woman's voice following him.

Suddenly a flash went off right in front of her. Her eyes widened at the said male taking a picture of her.

"What the hell do you think you are doing?" Hanna's voice came out cold than she expected.

The boy smiled. Oh, that gentle smile! Hanna thought. That smiled made her feel butterflies. What the ! How could she feel butterflies for a person she just met! And, for some reason she felt like he would become a pain in the and she would not mind him for it.

"Hello." He waved and walked towards her and stretched his arm. "I'm Kim Younghyun."

Hanna just stared him without accepting his arm for a shake. After a while he pulled it away and then scratched the back of his head. "Well, I do know you. I mean who doesn't know you." He sounded awkward and that was cute, she thought. She felt the side of her lips twitch but she did not let her guard down. "I am honestly a huge fan."

"Now now Younghyun, don't let your fanboy side pop out." Mrs Kim and then stood besides her son. "I'm Kim Lia, you can call me Lia." She smiled the same smile her son shared with her.

"Why don't we go have dinner now? Everything is set up." Hanna's mother popped in and ushered them all to the dining room.

"I'm sorry my husband could not make it. He is busy with the new deals coming in due to the Christmas holidays. Having a toy factory is not easy because it's during holidays when the demands go higher." The two mothers started engaging on a conversation leaving the two children alone.

He kept on staring her trying to begin a conversation with her. "Spit it out." Hanna said as she felt his states on her.

"Spit what?" He asked feigning confusion.

"Your mother did tell you are a fan boy. So?" Hanna pointed out rolling some sphagetti in her fork and placed it in .

"Your last match was intense even my dad watched it. He wanted to meet you today. He regrets that he cannot come today."

Hanna nodded. "So, what about the match?"

"Ermm what do you mean?"

"Well, I heard enough criticism regarding how my moves and techniques weren't professional. Do you think so?"

Younghyun laughed nervously. "To be honest, I just enjoy watching the MMAs but I don't have any knowledge of it. It's quit fascinating to see a female fighter. You are not muscular in civilian clothes."

Hanna rolled her eyes. "I'm a girl and we don't gain muscles like males. You should know that much." He laughed awkwardly again.

"You are right. I'm sorry. I did not mean to be a ert. Don't take me wrong. I hope we can be friends. Holidays starting soon for me let's hang out." His smile made her melt despite the snowflakes that was starting to slowly descend from the winter clouds.

It's been a week eversince the Kims had dinner at her place and now they were invited to the Kims residence for lunch. Her mother was fussing on getting a gift for them and apparently it took the Kims two weeks to arrange their house and finally they were going to host a housewarming party.

Younghyun welcomed them with all smiles and excitement. He helped Hanna get to the living room and he was happily chatting away. Hanna did not know if she would miss someone's smile this much. He was very talkative and did not even mind if she was responding and was satisfied enough with her attentive face.

Hanna finally met Mr. Kim and she suddenly missed her own father. Unknowingly as a tear escaped her right eye she felt a finger brush her cheeks. "Now, don't let the beautiful face get ruined with big ugly fat tears." She heard a familiar voice whisper into her ear sending shivers down her spine as she realized the close proximity of Younghyun.

He appeared in front of her handing her the fresh juice he had brought for her. "I made it. I'm pretty good in kitchen."

"And, my daughter is the opposite." Hanna blushed furiously at the coming revelation. "Mom" she hissed shaking her head lightly but seeing that only made Younghyun encourage her mother to continue.

"She is just like her... father." A sad smile played on her mother's lips. "She prefers fighting and always imitated her father and got into fights in school. I wondered if we raised a son." All of them chuckled except for Hanna who was sulking. Well, in other circumstances she wouldn't mind but for some reason she wanted to present herself in a more girlish version for Younghyun who ignited the girlish desires she never had.

She raised her hand to feel her short hair. Maybe, she should grow them out she wondered. Hanna had purposely chosen a long sleeved blouse and a long skirt since wearing a skirt was easier for her leg though she did not like skirts. The long sleeved blouse helped her hide her toned and muscled arms.

Soon, the conversation took a different topic and they focused on the Kim's life in Busan. In the meantime, Younghyun suggested to show around the house. He revealed that he was the one who worked on the house interior and that's why it took two weeks for them. Except for his parent's room her had designed and arranged everything. He sulked at the fact that he could not touch his parent's room. It was cute.

"Look at how hideous it is. The bare cream colored walls doesn't do any justice to the whole modern vibe of the house. This room is totally old fashioned. From furniture store the color itself." He complained pushing her in and pointing the faults of the room. She let herself smile as he picked a painting telling that it was too old fashioned and was not authentic.

"You are smiling." He pointed out suddenly and rushed towards her. "Awww why did you stop." He pouted as she coughed and looked elsewhere.

"W-what do you mean! Just.. Let's go I'm hungry." She tried to bite the insides of her cheeks to not let her cheeks blush but thankfully he decided to not pester her and turned her the other side to push her out of the room.

***

Younghyun started visiting her everyday with baked goodies: cookies, scones or cupcakes. He said that his mother made them everyday and he decided to share so,e with her. He remarked that she was afterall his only friend in the neighborhood as there were no other people around their age.

"Say Hanna, do you like reading mangas?" Younghyun asked her one day and the next day he had brought the complete volumes of the manga Attack on Titan. He said that he did not want to read alone and so they set out to read together.

"Are you crying?" Hanna asked with a slight chuckle when she felt tears fall on her elbow. She tried to not let their close proximity effect her. He raised his head and then hugged her as he broke down into tears making her flustered.

"It's unfair. Mike and his squad sacrificed their life but their death would forever be a mystery to the survey corps." He started crying harder while Hanna smiled as she patted his head. He was such a softie and a cutie.

She did not know what to say but then finally resorted to saying "they dedicated their hearts for humanity." And that finally did calm him down.

Younghyun was suddenly aware of his actions and pulled himself away from her despite the fact he enjoyed her warmth. He coughed and patted her upper arm. "You got a firm arm right there. I've got to go." He stood up and left leaving his bag behind and then returned back and waved at her and left leaving a very absolutely confused Hanna. But, after a while she broke into a fit of laughter. He was definitely very cute.

In the meantime, Younghyun hit his head into the wall repeatedly realizing his actions. "Stupid! Stupid! What do you mean by firm arms! You sounded like ing ert."

***

Hanna was now allowed to use crutches and she went to the hospital to practice. She noticed that Younghyun didn't visit her for five days. Picking one of the volumes she told her mother that she was going to the Kims.

His mother took her to his room. Without knocking she opened his door since she was tired.

"Mom, I don't have the eneg-" he stopped as his eyes met with the upside down figure of Hanna. He immediately stood up from the lying position and jumped from the bed.

"H-Hanna." He breath out as she took her seat on his bed without an invitation.

"I'm sorry for coming uninvited I'm quite tired."

He fiddled with his fingers and nodded. "Ermm.. Water? Juice?"

"No need son. Here you go. Enjoy." His mother entered right at time and placed it on his table and closed the door after leaving.

"So, Kim Younghyun, why haven't you been visiting me?" She looked at him who was standing silently with his eyes looking down at the floor.

"Hey, is there something interesting on the floor that I don't see?" Her question  made him look at her.

"N-no, it's just... Are you using crutches now?" He suddenly changed the topic.

Hanna laughed at his futile attempt. "Yes, but let's not change the topic hmm."

"Fine, I was embarrassed about that day."

Hanna nodded understandingly. "Don't worry. We all can cry when a fictional character dies. My heart did hurt at Mike's and his squad's death too since I know the pain of losing." She said but no she was actually wrong. He was embarrassed on how easily he hugged her and let himself say something embarrassing like that.

He pointed at her hand that clutched the next volume of the manga. "You came here to read it." He walked and sat besides her.

"No, I came to show off my crutches skills, duh." She rolled her eyes earning a chuckled from him. After finishing the volume they decided to watch the anime and spent the whole day snuggled and watching Attack on Titan.

***

"Come on Hanna don't be afraid." Younghyun held her arms as he helped her slowly walk. It's been two months since they met. They finished reading the manga and shed tears together even after watching the anime. He had started indulging her into the world of the anime and mangas.

"My leg is shaking." She muttered biting her lips. "I don't think I can do it." She cried in pain when she gave too much pressure on her injured leg.

"Okay, let's take a break." He carried her bridal style without a warning which startled her. She blushed as she was placed on the couch.

"Thank you though I could have used the crutches." She said in a small voice.

"No, you are tired." He opened the cap of the bottle and handed it to her. "Let's call it a day and begin training tomorrow."

Hanna crossed her arms with a pout. "I already go for physiotherapy everyday and I don't have to come for this. Let's watch Tokyo Ghoul."

He chuckled and ruffled her hair. "Sure. I don't have classes for a week so we can binge watch."

She punched her fist into the air. "Go grab and comforter soooon."

He nodded with a smile and grabbed a comforter pulling it over them and they snuggled closer as they usually did for the past two months eversince they started hanging out. Younghyun was able to pull her out of her sadness over the fact that she cannot fight in the ring for the time being.

Hanna ended falling asleep on his shoulders. Her hair had grown out and her sleeping face looked younger than she was. He had made her cut bangs last month due to a bet and it looked so good on her. He paused the anime and stared at her face. His eyes went to her lips. He wanted to taste them. The first time he laid his eyes on her he never felt star stricken by anyone. Out of all the girls he met she was different. He rested his head on hers and put his hand over her shoulders bringing her closer and let himself drown into her warmth.

After few hours Hanna woke up with warmth on her side. She blushed when she felt the weight of her partner's head on hers. She smiled and reached for his free arm and squeezed it and snuggled closer and closed her eyes once again. She never felt peace like this before. Maybe, losing and breaking her leg that day was a blessing. If she did win that day she would not meet him and experience this bliss. She liked him very much.

***

Younghyun did not mean to read her diary. He really did not mean to read it but being the curious cat he is he ended up committing the forbidden act. He found out that she liked him much to his relief. That means that he could express her his feeling without the fear of rejection.

He also learned that Hanna was not a desirable woman to many men and thus she looked down on herself in terms of her beauty but he thought otherwise. He found her absolutely gorgeous, witty and cute and most importantly she was herself. She did not try to become someone else in front of him. She was brunt when she needed to be.

Despite her being able to take over any men she yet had the cliched fantasies of proposal. An idea popped into his head on how to make her his girlfriend and as a future interior designer he knew that it was his area of expertise.

***

It took Younghyun few more months to set everything according to plan as he had exams. He wanted everything to be perfect and prior to everything he had informed his parents regarding his decision and similarly he had informed Hanna's mother who was excited for it. They agreed to help him arrange everything on her birthday as he believed that it would make her day more beautiful.

He already knew from her mother that Hanna would feel sad due to the fact that her father is not present. So, he wanted to let her know that he was now there for her and she could lean into him whenever she was feeling down.

Younghyun had baked the cake while his mother helped him with other sweets. He had decorated his house as he chose his place as the party venue. The proposal venue was the backyard which was also arranged. He let Hanna's mother invite more people which included her manager, few friends and some of her colleagues.

Hanna's mother managed to force Hanna wear the red frock which was bought by Younghyun and of course Hanna did not know that.

"Mom, why should I wear this?" She whined. "I thought I told we are not celebrating my birthday."

"Now, you will listen to me. We are going out and that is final." She stripped her daughter and made her wear the frock. Hanna sulked and let her mother doll her up.

"There you go." Her mother said after the final touches on her lip. "Your dad would not like to see you crying your eyes out on the day when his princess was born. Trust me today will be one of the most beautiful day in your life." Her mother winked at her.

Younghyun walked back and fourth with nervousness. "Relax kid. You are not getting married to her, yet." His father placed a soothing arm on his shoulder but it was not helping him. He had waited for this day for so long and it was nerve wrecking.

Getting a message from Hanna's mother that they are on the way, they immediately shut all the lights and waited for the birthday girl to arrive.

Hanna's mother made her wear a blindfold. "Seriously mom! What the hell! I thought we are going to a restaurant. Are you kidnapping me?"

"Shh.. The neighbors aren't supposed to know that I'm kidnapping you."

"Ughh.. Your jokes are lame." Hanna crossed her arms and let her mother do anything.

She heard a door open and suddenly her blindfold was removed and she was met with darkness but in a flash lights came out and every familiar faces yelled happy birthday. She really did it expect a party but tears welled on her eyes. It was always her father who would hold surprise birthday parties for her and she knew that every year that there would be one. She was not surprised as time went on but for the sake of her father she always appeared to be surprised but this year she was truly surprised.

"Hey birthday girl." Younghyun appeared before her in a similar red color suit she was wearing. He apparently had tried to match with her or was it her imagination.

"You planned this, didn't you?" She asked him with a smile. He nodded.

"Anything for you. Come on let's cut the cake first before everyone speaks to you."

Hanna had missed her friends and so was catching up with them. They had been busy so they couldn't visit her frequently but they dropped by occasionally for few hours. They were all happy to hear that soon she was able to go back to the ring. "You shine the best out there but you should be careful." One had remarked.

"Okay, may I get your attention please." Younghyun earned everyone's attention. "I want all of you to wear your coats as we are moving outside to the backyard where a surprise awaits for the birthday girl. Oh, by the way we are having a barbecue party too."

Younghyun approached Hanna and helped her stand up. "You want me to walk?" She questioned him and when he nodded she let him help her wear the coat and lead her outside. Everyone was outside now and there was a bonfire in the middle. He led Hanna to sit on a swing and he grabbed a mic.

"Today is a special of someone special, Oh Hanna. She was born in this cold day to warm the hearts of the people who love her. And, I happen to be someone who has felt her warmth reach me. I have never felt such warmth radiate from anyone. With her I feel like I could be with. She is beautiful. She is cute. She is gorgeous. And most importantly she is one of a kind. That made me fall for her." Hanna gasped as she felt his sincere words made her tear up. "As cliche as this sounds I loved you the first time my eyes laid on you. As a fanboy I never thought that I'd end up being your neighbor and friend. Will you be my girlfriend and accept to be your boyfriend?" They heard some whistles.

Hanna spread her arms. "Do you expect this poor girl to run over to you? Come here you idiot." Hanna half yelled. In response he rushed towards her and hugged her back.

"Yes, I love you be your girlfriend and accept you as my boyfriend." She pulled apart and kissed his lips freezing him on the spot. But a firework was sent upto the sky making him finally respond her kiss. Thank you, dad, he mentally thanked. The guests applauded the new couple as the fireworks decorated the sky above them.

Hanna did not mind losing for once if the outcome was this. She could almost see her father whistling at the scene and she knew that she was ready move on and keep the good memories only.

Hey, sorry that I took time. This came out longer than I expected. I hope it was a good read. Since, you asked for Authors choice I decided to play with a different concept for the female lead. I don't have any knowledge regarding MMA and thus was picked up from the Korean drama Fight My Way featuring Kim Ji Win and Park Seo Joon(if you didn't watch it I recommend you do. It's sweet.) and I have mentioned the manga and anime Attack on Titan which is my absolutely favorite. Haha. Anyways, I hope you enjoy this. ^^
As always please do leave a comment below. Have a nice day!

Chapter 209: I appreciate your vision! This is definitely not what I have in mind so it is even better that you were able to spin my prompt in an entirely different direction.

Minghao's life was truly sad, and I'm glad he had Ella with him to weather through that. I thought the love between them were going to remain platonic, but I'm glad Minghao realized what that love truly meant for him in the end. I was a bit skeptical with the use of Sister and Brother to refer to each other, how do you think they got over that? Were they only calling each other that to keep up the facade (especially on Ella's part, as if she is trying to keep her feelings away, that sort of thing)?

Anyways thank you so much for this! ♥️♥️♥️
