The Best Boyfriend

Me And The Girl Next Door

Sylvia let out a sigh as she looked outside the window. "It's raining again..." she said sadly. Wes has promised her a date that afternoon after he, Wayne and Dylan have gone out that morning. "Will Zheng continue with our date today, despite this rain?" she asked. She let out another sigh. She was looking forward to this day, only to be ruined.

As she looked down, she saw Wes walking up to her house under an umbrella. She finally smiled upon seeing him. "My Zheng!" she shouted. Wes looked up at her. He smiled, and waved at her. She immediately ran down the stairs to meet him. As she opened the door, Wes smiled at him. "Zheng, I missed you!" she said as she jumped and hugged him. Wes let out a laugh as he embraced her. "I've just been gone for a few hours..." he told her. Sylvia looked up at him and pouted. "But still, I missed you." she told him.

Wes let out a laugh. "What to do? It's raining, and we can't go out on a date?" Sylvia asked as she pouted. Again, Wes let  out a boyish smile. "Who says we can't have a date while it's raining? We can stay indoors, instead, right?" he said. Sylvia gave him a confused look. "Trust me, all right?" he told her. He held her hand, and then pulled her to his house.

As Wes opened the house, she saw the living room was decorated with fairy lights, candles and flowers. On the coffee table were her favorite food and pastries. Her eyes widened upon seeing the place. "You still had time to do this?" she asked. "I came home early to decorate the place. As for the pastries, well, I had to ask Chun ge to help me with those." he told her. Sylvia couldn't help but smile at him. "Aiyo, my boyfriend is so sweet and thoughtful." she told him as she blushed. "Well, I have to find a way so we can date. Since we can't go out for a picnic since it's raining, we can do an indoor picnic instead, right?" he said. Sylvia nodded her head.

The two of them went to the living room, and sat on the floor. Sylvia immediately took a pastry, and ate it. Wes could only watch as she savored her favorite food. "This tastes good! Hey, I know you don't like sweets, but you should try this." Sylvia said. Wes took a bite from the pastry she's holding. "It's good, isn't it?" she asked. Wes nodded his head. "It is. Especially when you're holding it." Wes . Sylvia could only laugh at his cheesiness. "Zheng, I know you don't like sweets. But why do you have so many sweets in your body?" she asked him. "Can't I be so sweet towards my girlfriend?" he asked. Sylvia smiled at him. "As long as you're only sweet towards me, I can accept that." she told him.

As Sylvia took another pastry, Wes stared at her. It's been days since she accepted his confession, and he still can't believe she's his girlfriend. It still felt like he's dreaming when he looks at her. "Luo Hong Zheng, why are you staring at me?" she asked him. Wes smiled again. "Nothing. It's just that, whenever I look at you, it still felt like a dream. And I feel so lucky whenever I look at you." he told her as he held her hand. Pink tint appeared in her cheeks. "I think I'm luckier to have you. Because you loved me even when I pushed you away. And you had always been there for me." Sylvia said.

Wes inched closer to her face. "Have I told you today that I love you?" he whispered. Sylvia nodded her head. "You did this morning...." she reminded him. "Then, I'll say it again. I love you. And I won't get tired of telling you that." he whispered to  her. Sylvia giggled at him. "I love you too..." she told him. He moved closer to her for a kiss, but before he could make his move, they heard the roar of the thunder. Sylvia shrieked, and jumped into his arms, hugging him. Wes blushed at what happened, but nevertheless, he was thankful for that thunder for he have her in his arms.

Sylvia covered her ears and closed her eyes. She's scared of thunders, but feeling Wes' arms around her made her feel safe, and it felt a little less scary. "Hey, don't worry... I'm here. The thunder can't hurt you." Wes told her as he rubbed her shoulder. Sylvia slowly opened her eyes, and saw Wes staring at him. "It felt comfortable in your arms..." she told him. Wes pulled her closer to him, and snuggled with her. "Is this more comfortable?" he asked. Sylvia nodded her head. "Much better!" she said, resting her head on his shoulder.

As it rained outside, Wes held Sylvia in her arms, not wanting to let her go.

"You girls will help us, right? We want this to be very memorable for Chun ge and Ella jie." Wes asked Pei Ci, Sunnee, Diana and Sylvia the next Monday at school. "Of course you can count us in!" Diana told Wes. Wes smiled at the four. "So, here's going to be your delegations..." Wes said handing them the papers. The four read the tasks they will be doing at Chun and Ella's second wedding.

"So, Fei Fei and I will be in charge of the decoration, and Sunnee and I are in charge of singing?" Pei Ci asked Wes. Pei Ci let out a groan. "Why am I in charge of this? I don't even like to sing." she asked. "Because you and Sunnee sings well." Wes told her. Sylvia gave Pei Ci a confused look. "She sings well?" she asked. "That was a long time ago! I forgot when was the last time I performed in front of everyone." Pei Ci said defensively.

Sam, who was reading a book, heard their conversation, and just smirked. "Wes, I know I had nothing to do with that thing you're organizing, but asking that creature to sing will make everyone deaf." Sam told him. Everyone looked at him, while Pei Ci glared at him. "You ert..." she hissed. Pei Ci made a step towards him, but Sylvia stopped her. "Hey, hey, calm down. Don't mind him." Sylvia told her. Wes shook his head. "Can I be in charge of the church instead?" Pei Ci asked. Wes shook his head. "Wayne's in charge of that." Wes told her.

Sam shot a look at Pei Ci, and smirked at her again. "Church? You might burn the moment you step inside the church. I heard they don't accept evil creatures like you." he shot at her. Pei Ci could feel a vein popping from her forehead. "Hey, stop giving your opinions. It doesn't matter." Pei Ci told him. Sunnee looked at Pei Ci and Sam and observed them. Then, she smiled. "Ah, I think the reason P'Sam likes to insult P'Pei Ci is because he likes her! I remember, that's how me and Raccoon started." Sunnee commented. Everyone's eyes widened upon hearing. "Of course, that could be the reason!" Diana said.

Sam stood up from his seat, and faced their group. "Excuse me, but even if she's the last woman on earth, I won't like her." Sam told them. "And even if you're the last man on earth, I will still hate you." Pei Ci said. The two intensely glared at each other, the group could see electricity coming out of their eyes. "Guys, stop... please..." Wes said, stepping in between them. "Then, tell this ert to stop meddling with us!" Pei Ci shouted. Sam simply smirked. The truth is, he doesn't know why by he likes it when Pei Ci is riled up like this. "Sam, please stop..." Sylvia told Sam. Sam looked at her as she smiled. Looking at her, he couldn't help but feel brokenhearted.

"Hey, stop looking at Fei Fei as if you want to devour her." Pei Ci told him. Sam folded his arms as he shot another glare at her. "Why do you care? Are you jealous?" he asked her. "Why would I be jealous? I'm more handsome than you!" she told him. "If pigs fly." Sam told him. As he turned his back to take his seat, he felt something hit his head. He looked back, and saw Pei Ci's notebook lying on the floor. "This girl... she needs to learn her lesson!" he thought.

With an angry look on his face, he marched towards Pei Ci. "Sam, don't do anything to her!" Wes warned him. He didn't listen to him. Instead, he gripped Pei Ci's hand, and dragged her outside the classroom. "Pei Ci!" everyone shouted. "No one will follow us, all right?" Sam shouted as they faded from their sight. Sylvia looked worriedly at Wes. "Don't worry. I know Pei Ci can handle this...." he told her. But the truth is, he's scared of what Sam will do to his friend.

--

"Let me go, you ert!"

Pei Ci shouted as Sam dragged her to the gym. She could feel her arm being numb as Sam pulled her. Sam stopped and threw her on the wall. Then, he slammed his hand on the wall, and stared intensely at her. "W-what do you want?" she asked nervously. Sam let out a smirk. "Revenge." he told her. Sam inched his face close to her. She could feel her heart racing as Sam gets closer to her. Remembering what happened the last time, Pei Ci closed her eyes tight, wishing he would go away. "No!" she shouted.

"Let her go."

She heard someone say. Sam felt a metal bat against his neck. "Didn't you say before, a guy who disrespects a girl is the lowest of them all. Why aren't you practicing what you preach?" he heard a familiar voice say. Sam loosened his grip on Pei Ci, and saw Ya Lun behind him. "Yan Ya Lun... why are you siding with this creature? Didn't she stole your girlfriend before?" he asked. "And why are you attacking her now, aren't you supposed to be her knight in shining armor?" Ya Lun asked. Pei Ci let out a disgusted expression. "Excuse me, I can save myself." she told the two. Sam looked at her, and burst out laughing. "Really? But have you seen the look on your face?" she told him.

Ya Lun let out another sigh. "Are you going to let her go, or what?" he asked Sam. Sam sighed, and let Pei Ci go. Then, he turned to Ya Lun. "She's all yours." he told him. He shot one last glare at Pei Ci before leaving him with Ya Lun. After they were left alone, Ya Lun approached her. "Are you all right?" he asked worriedly. Pei Ci sneered at her. "Why are you asking me that? Aren't you supposed to be mad at me?" she asked. Ya Lun let out a sigh. "Before, I admit it but..."

Ya Lun looked at her, and smiled. "Nothing. I just had a change of heart, all right. Is that guy always bothering you?" he asked. "Always. But it can't be helped. I'm bothering him as well." Pei Ci told him. Ya Lun let out a laugh. "Well, if he starts to bully you, you have to let me know, all right?" he told him. Pei Ci folded her arms, and gave him a dubious look. "Are you sure you're Yan Ya Lun?" she asked. "Of course!" he said. "Don't be too nice to me. Remember, I dated your girlfriend." she told him.

"Well, actually, I have to thank you. You made me realize how I should treat a girl well, and although Jenna and I have really broken up, now I know how to treat my next girlfriend good." Ya Lun said. Pei Ci let out a smile. "Well, I'm glad you learned something from me." Pei Ci told him. Ya Lun nodded his head. "So, thank you. And I was hoping we could also be friends and brothers?" he told her. Pei Ci smiled at him. "Too bad... have you heard? I'm going back to Canada soon? The exchange student program is about to end." Pei Ci told him. Ya Lun's face became sad upon hearing that. "But... we still can be friends even if I'm a thousand miles away, right?" he added.

In an instant, Ya Lun's face lightened up. "Really?" he asked. Pei Ci nodded her head. "Then, I'm glad. Thanks, Pei Ci!" he said to her.

Sam just finished his cleaning duties that afternoon, and was about to go home. He passed by the music room on his way to the school gate, when he heard someone singing and playing the piano from inside.

"I hear the winter leaving.

I wake up in some year, some month.

I think, I wait, I look forward to,

But that's not how the future is arranged.

Cloudy sky, an evening, outside the car window.

There is a person waiting in the future.

To the left, to the right, to the front I look.

How many corners must love turns before it arrives?

Who will I meet, what are we going to say?

The person I’m waiting for, how far away is he in the future?

I hear the wind blowing from the subway and the crowd.

I'm standing in line, holding a number plate for love."

Suddenly, he felt drawn to that voice. Curious, he looked inside, but he couldn't clearly see who was the girl that was singing. "Who is she?" he thought. He leaned on the wall and closed his eyes, as he continued to listen to her sing. Suddenly, he found himself smiling as he listened to her. The more that he listen to the girl sing, the more he felt himself being drawn to her. "Is it possible..." he thought. "... to fall in love with someone's voice?" Then, he smiled to himself. "If love at first hear is real, then I think I'm in love with this angel who owns this voice..." Sam said to himself.
