Jealous Girl

Me And The Girl Next Door

Sylvia spent her lunch break at the rooftop, eating lots of sweets. She's too upset with Wes to even come back to the classroom. "First, he left me to walk alone to school. Then, you forgot my lunch. You'll pay for this, Luo Hong Zheng." she said before taking a big bite from her sweet bread.

"I knew you'd be here!"

She looked up, and saw Wes walking up to her. She let out a pout as she folded her arms. "What are you doing here and how did you find me?" she questioned him. "I just had a feeling you'll be here." he said as he sat beside her. "Go away! This is my secret place!" she told him.

Wes couldn't help but laugh at her. Sylvia could only glare at him as she took a big bit from her bread. "Why are you eating sweets for lunch? That's unhealthy!" he told her  "You," she said pointing at him with her bread. "... forgot my lunch."

"Look, I'm sorry about it. I was about to tell you last night about Pei Ci but you didn't want to talk to me." he told her. Sylvia rolled her eyes at him. "And you said you're OK if I leave with Xiao Ci yesterday!" he reminded her.

Sylvia snobbed him, and looked away from him. Wes let out another laugh. "My pesky little sister is jealous, am I right?" he .

She got even more annoyed at him. "Leave me alone, OK?" she told him off. "Why are you mad anyway?"

"Because you never told me about her! And here I am, being too clueless at how close you are with that girl."

"Well, I'm sorry about that. I never thought we'll see each other again."

"So what is she to you anyway?"

Wes just let out a smile as he kept his silence. He find it amusing when Sylvia is this jealous. "Fine. If you don't want to answer, I don't care. Why don't you just go back to your Xiao Ci!" she told him off.

She got up from her seat, and marched away from him. After  a few steps, Wes stood up, and followed her. "Fei Fei..." he called her. When she didn't looked back at him, he held her hand. "Hey, look at me." he pleaded.

Sylvia struggled to be free from his grip. "Let me go! I don't want to talk to you!" she told him. "Just tell me why you're mad!" he said. He gripped her wrist harder, and then pulled her closer to him.

Sylvia bumped into his chest. Their faces were an inch away. As she looked up at him, she saw him staring at her. Her heart began to beat fast knowing he's close to her. And at that moment, it felt like the world stood still. The time stopped, and the only thing she could see is his brown eyes, and her reflection in it.

His hand moved to her waist as he inched more. She had never been this close to him, and yet it felt so right to be in his arms. He leaned on to her forehead, and and she exhaled his scent. His face gets closer and closer until she could feel his hot breath, and their lips almost touching.

And then the bell rang.

As if she was awaken from the dream, the realization of her being this close to him suddenly scared her.  "Ah!" she shrieked. She jolted from him, and ran away, leaving Wes to wonder why.

Wes let out a disappointed sigh. She was this close to her, only to push him away. "I guess I have to accept the fact she will never love me..." he said to himself.

Meanwhile. Sylvia tried to catch her breath as she stopped running down the stairs. Her heart was beating fast, not because of the long run, but because of the realization of hom close Wes is to him. "Why am I like this? What's happening to me?" she asked in frustration. She smacked herself in the head knowing how stupid she was for pushing Wes away.

--

"Zheng ge..."

Wes looked at Pei Ci, and smiled at her. "Will you walk me home today?" she asked as she smiled sweetly at him. The final bell rang, and everyone on the class is getting ready to go hom. "Of course, I will. I know you still don't know your way around. And besides, there's erts around. I want to protect you." Wes said.

Sylvia heard what he said, and she could feel a vein popping from her head. "Stupid Zheng! You don't even care if I get harassed by the ert or not?!" she thought. Diana saw her reaction, and then looked at Wayne. "Xiao Jin, I remembered I want to go to the library with Fei Fei today. You'll accompany us, right?" Diana said. Then, she winked at him. Wayne immediately got what she meant.

"Ah! Of course, I will." Wayne nodded his head. Wes looked at Wayne, and smiled at him. "Thank you for walking  Sylvia home today, Wayne." he said. Sylvia looked at Pei Ci and Wes. He saw Wes help her with her bag, and hold Pei Ci's hand. "Then, we'll see you guys tomorrow, all right?" Pei Ci said. Wes said goodbye to the trio, and left the three alone.

Sylvia buried her head on her arms, and let out a loud groan. "Are you OK, Fei Fei?" Wayne asked. Sylvia looked up at the blackboard, and shook her head. "You two go ahead. I want to go to the dojo first. Don't worry about me." she said.

Wayne and Diana looked at each other. Both of them were hesitating to leave her alone. "But Fei Fei..." Diana protested. "It's all right. I can take of myself, Shi An. You and Xiao Jin go ahead without me. I'll be fine. Besides, I don't want to be a third wheel." Sylvia said. "Well, if that's what you want. But will you let us know if you get home safe?" Wayne told her. Sylvia smiled, and gave him a thumbs up.

She went to the school dojo, and practiced judo, until sunset. She left the school shortly before it became dark. A block into walking home, she felt like she's being watched. Little by little, she sped up. She knew she was being followed, but she doesn't want to look back.

When she find herself in a crowded street, she paused for a while to take a deep breath, and then looked back. There was nothing suspicious behind her, but she still she feels someone's watching her. Scared, she finally decided to run home.

She reached her house safe and sound. As she closed the door behind her, she leaned on the door. "It must be the ert following me..." she thought. She tried to calm herself down as she took deep breaths.

"Sylvia, you're here." Ella said as she walked down the stairs. She noticed the beads of sweat in her forehead, and the scared look in her eyes. Ella began to worry. "What's wrong?" she asked. Sylvia shook her head. "N-nothing, Ella jie. I... I just ran from school to here." she lied."Why?" Ella pried again. "I... I want to know how long it will take me to run from school till home." she said.

Ella let out a sigh. "All right, if that's what you say. Anyway, better change your clothes, so we can have dinner, all right?" she said. Sylvia smiled, and nodded her head. Then, she ran up to her room.

--

"Have you heard? A second year student got harassed yesterday by the ert." Sylvia heard Win telling his friends. "What did the ert do?" Evan asked. "The ert followed the girl from the school gate. Then, he pulled and cornered her at the inner lane a few blocks from school, and flashed himself in front of the girl. I heard the girl was so traumatized, she got sick and can't even go to school." Win said.

Then, Sylvia remembered what happened the night before. Someone was following her. If she had not ran so fast, maybe the ert would have got her. "That's scary!" Eunice told Win. Win nodded her head. "So that's why you have to let me walk you home so that the ert can't be near you." Win said.

A sweat drop formed on her forehead. Win scared Eunice with the ert story so that he could make a move at her. She took her eraser, and threw it in his head. Win flinched in pain. "Hey, you're taking advantage of this opportunity to make a move on Eunice!" she told him.

Sylvia looked at Eunice. She was scared with Win's story. She saw Eunice tug Evan's sleeves with puppy eyes. "Evan, I'm scared of that ert. Will you walk me home and keep me safe?" Eunice asked. Sylvia could only give herself a face palm. "Of course, Eunice. I promise to protect you." Evan said as he smiled sweetly at her. Win pouted at Evan. "And I thought you only like Sunnee?" Win told him. Evan let out a sigh, and looked outside. He saw Sunnee and Dylan talking outside. "But she had a boyfriend. That ice princess!" Evan said.

Meanwhile, Sunnee and Dylan were seriously talking outside the classroom. Sunnee's eyes widened when she heard what Dylan told her. "You mean to say...."

Before she could finish what she was about to say, Dylan nodded his head. She quickly glanced inside the room, and then looked at him. "But, how could that be?" she asked. "You have to promise me, you won't tell anyone first. This is highly confidential." he warned her. "But..."

"I know."

"Is it possible you guys are wrong?"

"I wish I am."

"Then, I won't believe it unless I see it with my two eyes."

Dylan put his hand over her shoulder, and looked her dead serious in the eye. "Promise me, Nee. Promise me you won't tell anyone. Not even the people involved here." he told her. Sunnee nodded her head. "I won't." she told him.

As soon as Dylan saw Wes and Pei Ci approaching, he let Sunnee go. "I have to go. I'll see you later, all right?" Dylan said. Sunnee nodded her head. Sunnee looked back, and saw Wes entering the classroom. "It's getting more complicated..." she thought as she let out a sigh.

"Hey, what's the fuss all about?" Wes asked as he entered the classroom. "Wes, we're scared because of the ert!" Cosmos said as she pouted. "Win said there was a girl from our school who became a victim of the ert." Eunice said. Wes folded his arms as he smiled. "Girls, you don't have to be scared. Everyday, you encounter a ert from this class. Just look at Win and Evan." he told them. The two threw crumpled paper at him. Pei Ci couldn't help but laugh at the two.

"But hey, the ert is scary, huh?" Pei Ci commented. Then, she looked at Sylvia. "Aren't you a bit scared when you walk alone, Fei Fei?" she asked her. Wes smirked as she looked at his little sister. "Of course she won't be afraid." Wes said. Sylvia's eyes widened upon hearing that. "What the heck?!" she thought.

Then, Wes looked at Pei Ci, and smiled. "She's a strong girl. I know she can protect herself. I've taught her well." Wes said. Sylvia glared at him as she let out a devilish smile. "Oh, yes. I can protect myself. I don't need a guy to walk me home to protect me from erts. I can take down a ert when I need to." she told them.

Wes smirked at her. "See, guys. My little sister is so brave." Wes said. "Wes!" Wayne scolded him. Wes looked at him. "What?" he asked in an annoyed tone. "Just because Sylvia knows how to fight, it doesn't mean she won't be needing help, all right? This ert is a big issue. What if the ert does something to Fei Fei, in a way that she can't fight and help herself? What if something bad happened  to her?" Wayne told him.

"I can take care of myself! I don't need Wes to protect me!" Sylvia told Wayne proudly. Wes huffed at her. "Then, I'm at ease." he said sarcastically. Sylvia threw another glare at him. Everyone around them fell quiet. "Uh... are we in the middle of a war between brother and sister here?" Evan finally asked. Both Wes and Sylvia snobbed away from each other, and fell quiet.
