"Daddy Chun?"

Chun looked at the door of the cafe, and saw a familiar face. She smiled at him as she walked towards him. "Tammy!" he exclaimed. He stood up from his seat, and gave the girl a hug. It has been almost ten years, and he was glad that Tammy still remember him. "Since when have you been back here in Taipei, Daddy Chun? Where's Mommy Ella?" Tammy asked.

Upon hearing Ella's name, the smile on his face slowly faded. "She's... she's not with me..." he said. "Oh... did you two had a fight?" she asked. Chun shook her head. "Maybe you made Mommy Ella mad again. Don't worry, I know Mommy Ella will forgive you, just like before." she said as she gave him a reassuring smiled. "I really hope so." he said.

Then, a blond haired guy shortly joined them. "Tammy, dear?" he called. Chun gave him a dubious look. "Who is this, Tammy?" he asked. "Hi, sir. You must be Tammy's other dad?" he said with a cheeky smile. Chun folded his arms as he nodded his head. The blond haired guy extended his hand to him. "I'm Ming Jie, Tammy's boyfriend. But you can call me Matthew. It's nice to finally meet you, sir." he said. 

Chun was quite impressed at Tammy's boyfriend. "Ah, the boyfriend of my dear daughter. Are you taking good care of Tammy?" he asked. "He is, Daddy Chun! " Tammy said proudly. Then, Chun looked firmly at Matthew. "Then, you should continue taking care of my daughter." he said. Matthew nodded his head. "I will, sir." Matthew said as he held his hand. 

"Actually, Tammy. It's good thing I saw you. Are you still living at the apartment at Willow street?" he asked. Tammy shook her head. "We left that place a few years ago. Actually, me and my family moved back to Japan. Matthew and I are here for a short vacation." Tammy said. Chun let out a sigh. It's been days since he's back in Taiwan, and no one has seen Ella. Not even their old classmate, Danson, her ex-colleague Calvin, or even her best friend, Sphinx. 

"The truth is, I came back here in Taipei because I'm looking for Ella. Is there any chance that you have seen her while you're here in Taipei?" Chun asked. Tammy shook her head. "I'm sorry, Daddy Chun. I was also hoping to see Mommy Ella after seeing you today." she said. "What happened to the apartment at Willow street?" Chun asked again. "From what I have heard from grandma, most of the apartments had been sold to new owners. Are you planning to move back in to Willow street?" she asked. "I'm hoping I could rent a house somewhere there. I think I might stay here in Taipei for a long time." Chun said. 

Matthew suddenly remembered something. "Willow street? I think I saw an ad about a house for rent in that area a few days ago." he said. Tammy looked at him, and smiled. "Ah, my boyfriend does remember every little details." she said. Matthew simply winked at her. "Really? Then, I should go and check if that house is still available." Chun told them. "Sir, do you want us to accompany you?" Matthew suggested. Chun smiled at him, and shook his head. "No need, Matthew. But you can do me a big favor by looking after Tammy, and making sure you enjoy your short vacation here in Taipei,  all right?" Matthew said. Matthew smiled and nodded his head. "I sure will, sir!" he said. 

"Then, I should get going. Tammy, it's nice seeing you again. And it's nice to meet you, Matthew." Chun said. Tammy smiled at him, and then she walked up to him, and then gave him a hug. "I miss you, Daddy Chun. I really hope you'll find Mommy Ella soon." she said. Chun nodded his head. "I will. And once I find her, I won't lose her again." he said. Then, he said goodbye to the two. The two watched as Chun leaves.

Ella opened the door, and saw Wes outside. She was surprised to see him, as she didn't hear him knock. "Wes, what are you doing there?" she asked. "I... I just wanted to see how Fei Fei is doing..." he said. Ella smiled at him, then folded her arms. "Then, why didn't you knock." she asked. Wes let out a sigh. "I... I don't know how to face her..." he said. 

Ella gave the younger man a skeptical look. "You made her cry today, am I right?" she asked. Wes shook his head. "I didn't, Ella jie! I swear to God!" he said as he lifted his right hand. "Then why is Sylvia crying for hours now? And why do you feel guilty?" she asked. 

There was another sigh coming from him. "I feel sad seeing her sad..." he said. This time, Ella let out a smile. "You feel sorry for her?" she asked. "I don't know. I can't explain. It's just that since we were young, I try my best to make her happy. It's just that it hurts here when I see her cry." Wes said, pointing at his chest. 

"Well, would you be more at ease if you find out how she's doing tonight?" she asked. Wes nodded his head. "Then, go and see her. If it would make you feel better to see how she's doing, then go." Ella said as she opened the door wide to make way for him. "Thank you, Ella jie!" Wes said before rushing up to her room. 

Ella smiled to herself as she looked at Wes. "This boy sure still doesn't know he's in love with his best friend, does he?" she said to herself as she shook her head in amusement.

Wes slowly opened the door of her room, and saw Sylvia lying on her bed, facing the window. "Fei..." he called as he walked in. "It's OK. I need time to be sad. You can leave me alone for now...." she said before sniffing. Wes approached her, and then sat on the other side of her bed. "It wouldn't be fair. When Tia broke up with me, you had been there trying to cheer me up. Remember when you cried with me that night she left? You cried the most for me, because you're hurt as well. Why can't I do the same thing? Why should I let you be sad alone?" 

"You can't cry..." Sylvia told him. "Why? Real men cry." he said. "Because if you cry, I'll cry too. I feel tired crying for the past few days." she said. "Then, go and rest from crying for a while. If after your rest, it still hurts, then cry again. I will just be here to be your human handkerchief." he said. He stared at her back, and let out sad smile. "We're going to be OK. After all the pain we've been through, we're going to be OK..." Wes whispered to her.

"Zheng..." she called her in a low voice. "Fei Fei..."

"It still hurts but my eyes are tired...."

"Then close your eyes, and sleep."

"I can't sleep... I feel like I'm going to cry again after I sleep."

Wes took a deep breath before lying on her bed. He turned to face her back, and hugged her. "Do you feel much better now?" he asked. Sylvia nodded her head. Then, she slowly closed her eyes. "Fei Fei..." he called again. "Hmmmm...."

"Remember what I promised to you when we were young? I promise I will protect you with all my life... so for now, just sleep tight. I'll be here to look after you." 

There was no response from her. All he could hear is her heavy breathing. "I know I can't protect you from all the pain in the world. But I promise you, I will be here to hold you tight whenever you're hurt. Your pain is my pain." he whispered to her, Then, he let out a yawn and closed his eyes.

Wes was awakened by a loud ring from the alarm clock. He reached for the clock, and pushed the snooze button. He rubbed his eyes, then opened them. As he tried to move his other arm, he felt something, heavy. "What's that?" he thought. He looked up at the ceiling, and realized he's not in his room. "Where am I?" he thought. 

As he tried to remember what happened the night before, he looked at his side, and saw Sylvia in his arms. She was sleeping peacefully beside him. "Fei Fei!" he exclaimed in his thought. Now, he knew what happened the night before. He went up to her room to console her, and then he fell asleep. As Sylvia hugged him, he felt his heart beating fast again.

"Heart, please stop beating fast when she's close to me. You're going to kill me!" he thought. He doesn't know why he's acting that way. He shouldn't feel that way, because for him, Sylvia is the little sister he never had. Wes doesn't know how to get out of that position. If he stayed that way a few more minutes, then they're going to be late. But, when he looked at Sylvia's sleeping face, he couldn't help but stare at her. 

He let out a smile to himself. Sylvia isn't as bad looking as he thought. In fact, she's very pretty. He stared at her long eyelashes, then at her cute nose, then at her pink lips. He found himself moving closer to her face the more he stared at her. He tried to reach for her face again, but the alarm goes on again. This time, Sylvia woke up. 

When Sylvia woke up, she found herself in Wes's arms. "Zheng? Did you sleep in my room?" she asked as she rubbed her eyes. Wes sat up. He doesn't know how to explain it to her. "I... uh... well... I...." he stuttered. Then, she smiled at her. "Maybe that's why I had a good sleep last night. I had you as my pillow." she said. Wes pouted at her. "Do I look like a pillow to you?" he asked. Sylvia nodded her head. "A very comfortable human pillow." she said. 

Wes could feel his cheek burning, so he looked away from her. "You better get ready for school, or we'll be late." he said. Then, he stood up from her bed, and rushed out of the room. 

Wes ran down the stairs, and from the kitchen, he saw Ella. "Good morning, Wes. How's your sleep?" Ella greeted him. Wes' cheeks turned even more redder when Ella greeted him. "Ella jie, you didn't wake me up last night?!" he asked. Ella smiled and shook her head. "Why would I? When I checked you and Sylvia last night, you two were sleeping peacefully. I can't disturb you. And besides, if you did something to Sylvia, I would have probably heard it last night." Ella sad. Wes felt even more embarrassed. "Ella jie!" he shouted out of embarrassment. Ella could only laugh. "All right, I'm sorry about it. Go, and prepare for school now. Oh, and I prepare yours and Sylvia's lunch. I know it's your turn to bring your lunch today, so just tell Sylvia you're the one who prepare it." Ella said. 

He nodded his head as he grabbed the lunch bag. "Thank you, Ella jie!" he shouted before rushing out of the house.

Lunch Time. 

"What's your lunch for today?" Wayne asked Wes as they moved their desks for lunch time. "I don't know." Wes told him. Wayne gave him a confused look. "But aren't you supposed to cook for something for the two of you today? Whatever it is, let me have some of it, all right?" Wayne said. Wes nodded his head. 

Shortly after, Diana and Sylvia joined them. "Hey, Diana. Remember that brownies we brought from the dessert stall?" Wayne asked her. Diana nodded her head. "Yeah! I loved those brownies." she said. Wayne took out his lunch bag, and handed her a bag of brownies. "I went there yesterday to buy them for you." he said to her.. Diana's face lightened up upon seeing the brownies. "Oh my God! Thank you, Wayne!" Diana said. As she hugged him, Wes and Sylvia saw him froze up, and smiled secretly at him. "Y-you're welcome?" he stuttered after he let her go. "Let's share this together, all right?" she said. 

Then, Sylvia cleared . "How about me? I love brownies too." she said. "You always like sweets." Wes told her. Then, she turned to Wes. "Hey, do you want to buy lunch at the cafeteria?" she asked. Wes shook his head. "I brought lunch." he said. 

Sylvia gave him a confused look. "You had time to prepare lunch? We woke up late today, right?" she said. Wes began to panic, for he thought she would say that he slept in her room. "Why did you two woke up late?" Wayne asked. "Well, he -"

Before Sylvia could talk, Wes covered . "We were talking on the phone." Wes explained. Wayne just nodded his head. Sylvia and Wes sat beside each other. Then, he opened the lunch bag, and placed her lunch in front of her. As Sylvia opened it, she fell silent. "What's wrong?" Wes asked. When he peeked at her lunch box, he saw that everything was heart shaped - the rice, the egg, even the burger patty was shaped like a heart. 

Wes was shocked upon seeing her lunch box. "Ella jie!" he thought. He immediately took her lunch box, and closed it. "Why?" Sylvia asked innocently. Wes let out a nervous laugh. "That was mine, I'm sorry." he said. "We were late, and you managed to shape everything into a heart?" she asked. Wes let out another nervous laugh while the three looked at him with confusion in their face. 

He placed the other lunch in front of her. "This is yours." he said. But as Sylvia opened it, everything is also heart shaped. Wayne couldn't help but laugh at Wes. He looked like he wants to disappear in the face of the planet forever because of their lunch box. "Wes? You know Sylvia is still brokenhearted, right?" Diana asked in confusion. Wes let out a nervous laugh. "I was asleep while I was doing our lunch box. I'm so sorry." he said. 

Sylvia looked at him, and smiled. "But I like it. This one is cuter. Thank you, Zheng." she said. Then, she began to eat her food. As she smiled at him, Wes began to feel his heart beating fast again. "Heart, please slow down! We're not in a race..." he thought as he looked away from her. 

Wayne noticed him clutching his chest, which made him worried. "Are you all right, Wes?" he asked. Then, Sylvia and Diana looked at him. He looked at Sylvia, and she had a worried look in her face. Then, his heart was beating fast again. "I... I want to go out for a while." he said. Then, he stood up, and ran outside the classroom.

"What's wrong with him?" Sylvia asked. Diana shrugged her shoulders. "Let me check on him, all right?" Wayne said.

"Why am I like this?" Wes said as he walked through the hallway. "I have been feeling this way since this morning. No, since, I don't know when. Why am I feeling this way?" he asked in frustration. 

"Feeling what?" 

Wes paused for a while. Then, he looked back and saw Wayne walking towards him. "Are you eavesdropping on me?" he asked in an annoyed tone. Wayne let out a laugh. "You're cute when you talk to yourself." Wayne said, smiling at him. Wes let out a pout. "Don't fall in love with me, then." he said. 

"Seriously, are you OK?" Wayne asked in a more serious tone. "I am. Why do you ask?" Wes said. "You kept on clutching on to your chest. Are you in pain? Maybe you should see a doctor, it might be serious." Wayne said worriedly. Wes let out a sigh. "Maybe I should. It's just that lately, I feel my heart beating fast." he confided in him. "Does it hurt?" Wayne asked. Wes nodded his head. "Then, you should really go and see a doctor. It might be a heart problem." Wayne said. 

"Guess I should. I feel so weird lately." Wes said. Then, he looked at Wayne. He thought, maybe he would feel the way he felt for Sylvia if he hugged him. "Wayne, you're my friend, right?" Wes asked. Wayne nodded his head. "Can I ask you a favor?"

"Sure! What is it?"

Wes pulled Wayne, and hugged him tight. He tried to observe himself.  "Hmmm... my heart is not beating fast. Maybe it's because we're both guys? Will Diana agree if I ask to hug her?" he thought. "Luo Hong Zheng! What the heck are you doing!" Wayne shouted in his ear as he struggled to get out from his hug. He was shocked when Wes hugged him. "One more minute." Wes said as he hugged him. "I really don't feel anything." he concluded in his mind. 

As he let him go, the noticed Sunnee was staring at the two with a shocked look on her face. Wes was petrified when he saw her. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to see that!" Sunnee shouted at them before running away. Wayne was surprised. Then, he looked at Wes. "Look what you have done!" Wayne told Wes as he pouted at him. Wes could only laugh.

Chun stood before their old house. He was hoping this is the house that Matthew was telling him about. But, there was no "For Rent" sign outside. "I wonder who manages the houses here now? Has Ella been here? It has been a long time, I'm pretty sure she missed living in this neighborhood." he thought. 

As he turned around to leave, the door suddenly opened. He doesn't know why, but the moment he heard the door opened, his heart began to beat fast. When he looked back, he saw Ella  standing by the door. "Ella..." he called. 

Ella was surprised that Chun is here, and that he was able to find her. "Chun?" she called. God knows how much she missed him. She wanted to run to him, and give him a long kiss on the lips. But then, all her fears and insecurities ate her up again. Instead, she retreated back inside the house, and closed the door in front him. 

Chun tried to follow her, but the door was closed. "'Ella! Ella, talk to me, please..." he pleaded to hear. "Please, leave Chun... just leave..." he heard Ella tell him. "I'm not leaving this place without you. So please, Ella...."

He knocked on the door over and over, hoping Ella would finally open it. "Ella, I love you. I will always love you. Please... please come back to me, please..." he pleaded again. "Just go, Chun! I don't want to see you." Ella shouted at him. "Even if I leave today, I will come back here for you. I'll come back until the day you can come home from me. I'll come back until you want to see me. I won't give up on you, Ella... so please don't give up on us." he told her. "Please leave, Chun. Please leave."

Defeated, he he could only grant his wish for now. As he turned to leave, two teenagers were looking at him. "You know Ella jie?" the girl asked her. Chun nodded his head. "I'm her husband." he said. 

The two looked at each other, then back at him. "Really?" the both said. Chun nodded his head.
